If you've watched the daily Web Minute during Good Day NY, you've probably noticed that it looks a bit shabby around here. We've got this deep red wall to the back of the room that makes for a good television backdrop, but the rest of the place needs some serious help!

That's where you come in... help us paint our web office!! (no, not actually come in and do the labor.. I'm talking about picking the perfect color.. I know you can do it .)

Take a look at close-ups of the office... and then post your "colorful" opinion. Not too crazy about the pics? That's Reid Lamberty's fault... just kidding, Reid :-> Good job on the photos.

Interesting challenge. What about incorporating the red white and blue used in the My Fox web logo into the room? It would be difficult to pull off given the room dimensions, but not impossible and appropriate for the web center. You could even try blue carpet, red (ish) walls and a white ceiling with the myfox logo suspended from a wire in full 3d! If you wanted to go for even greater effect, you could have some type of image showing the NY skyline (similar to the myfox poster)on one of the walls. Also, building some type of modern, space saving cubicles with windowed walls would be a good idea. I would also suggest keeping all tower systems on the floor to give you more desk space. The thought of all the bloggers coming in and painting the office is actually funnier and would make for some great video although the outcome might not be pretty! Good luck!

Hey Kathy!

Funny I was just reading an article yesterday how room colors affect your emotions. There are lots of web sites that demonstrate mood changes with room colors......here is one site:

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2007/apr/17/colors_can_aff
ect_mood/

Red is known to make people angry....I wonder if that back wall has caused any unnecessary anger or passion in your office.

Hi Kathy, I think a goldish color will be great with dark brown carpet all around...no?? That will be very comfy. Try it out... ok?

Have a great weekend!

Hey Kathy. I think the answer is in the pictures. Let Reid take a 1,000 pics and decorate the walls. If that doesn't work, you can always do a solid bright color for the whole office, like the red wall you have already. Have a good weekend!

Hey Kathy!
Ok. I just clicked on the link and checked out the collection of colors. I noticed that when I click on a prticular color, two more shades of paint are also recommended to offset the whole look. So here's my top three:
- Harvest Gold (w/2 coordinating colors)
- Poseidon (w/2 coordinating colors)
- Pulsating Blue (w/2 coordinating colors)

Now, you may decide to paint the walls one color, the ceiling another, and the borders another (or any other combo). But the choices above will def. give the room a whole new look-the color schemes are great! Enjoy your weekend!

Hey Kathy...here's a thought. I think that that everyone who works there should each get paint samples of their favorite colors and just throw it on the wall. Who knows eventually you might have an entire abstract office worthy of Jackson Pollack!
Or you just might wanna paint it a neutral color!!!

I knew I could count you guys!
Really, really interesting ideas... and don't even know where to begin. You've made me feel like we here could get very creative. Or maybe sticking to the basics is better. I'm definitely not sure which is "best" but they're all worth considering.

Ok, so, to begin: Daniel, I love the idea of the MyFox logo in 3D hanging from the ceiling! A lighter version of red (not pink, but not the deep color we have in the back) could be perfect for the currently white walls. (i love that pic of you, btw..it's you, noc?)

Jane, I think it's a good thing my back is to that red wall. The last thing I need is to be surrounded by "anger"... Thanks for the link and ditto on the information about color affecting moods.

Lisa, your color scheme reminds me of my bedroom. It's very calming.. the only trouble we'd encounter is the carpeing: we can't change it :-< Trust me, I'd love to have new carpeting! Do you think it would work despite the dark blue rug?

Bobby, I don't know about letting Reid take 1,000 pics (he'd do it, too :-> ) But you're the one who got my creative juices flowing... how said it had to be a solid color... why not lots of pictures??

Ah, leave it to Mystro to color coordinate for us! You've always come across as a happy, creative type... I love the details. Your color combinations have my vote (all three actually!)

Bob, I love abstract art. I'm looking for the perfect piece for my living room. Want to help me with that, too? Just kidding... I'm demanding, huh?

BTW art is a GREAT wat to add color and interest to you office. From your photos your workplace looks kinda cool. You just might've gotten used to them, YA THINK? See, I CAN be serioius sometimes!

Thanks again, everyone.
So we're still waiting for some more "colorful" opinions to pour in...
If you ever feel like adding more comments, feel free.
I honestly like a bit of every idea proposed.. if only we could incorporate them all? now that would be a real challenge.... I'll keep you updated.

Kathy, hope things are coming along for you guys in the office. I was wondering if you could let me know if Ines received what I sent to the studio for her today, if you know by any chance?? I didn't want to ask her directly. Thanks for your help if you know. Have a great day!!

Hi Kathy: I don't think you should paint the walls. You should just hang some photography if you have any photographer friends who might be interesting in selling you some of their stuff.

Obviously, just kidding. Someone commented above that there was an article about the effect of color on your mood. That's very true. A well-known college football coach once painted the walls in the visitors locker room pink to keep the other team soft. That's a true story.

But I think something lighter, like a soft yellow, might keep you guys in more positive spirits, rather than that hard-to-miss red.

Hey Kathy. Im gonna stick with my suggestion of lots of pictures. If that doesn’t work, than I say do all of the walls a reddish color. Good luck with everything!

That's funny John----pink and football don't mix! Maybe it brought out their feminine side. That'll cause a loss!
A friend of mine is a football coach, and he stategically makes his home team play on the shady side, so the visitors will be blinded by the sun!
Sneaky, but smart!

You can't fall asleep with these colors on the wall. I like the orange, an all around power color.
