Well September saw several emergencies for the Fredericktown Fire Department. I have put together a short video of a few of the scenes. The first was a small brush fire caused by a jumper wire that burned out on an electric pole. This occured on 9/2/07. The next happened on 9/13/07 when a  car caught fire. This also caused damage to the near by garage. The final portion of the video is a structure fire that happened on 9/21/07. The fire caused heavy damage to the double wide trailer. I believe that the cause was determined to be electrical in nature. I just wanted to say the FFD did a great job with all of the emrgencies. Included is a picture of a non injury accident last Saturday. Also next Saturday 10/13/07 the Fredericktown Fire Dept will hold the 2nd annual Chili Cook Off in downtown Fredericktown. There will be games, face painting, Elmo, and of course Chili! Proceeds will go towords the purchase of a new jaws of life. So come down and enjoy the festivities! Things begin at around 10AM. Nice job Weatherman222! Keep up the good work. Are you using a police scanner to get info on the accidents/fires?

Thanks! Yeah I am. I have a Uniden Bearcat, it does a fine job of keeping me informed. Plus because of Myfoxstl.com the fire dept has noticed work and I am now their official photographer. So I won't be getting run off from the scenes anymore and I can get closer to the action.

That's great the firemen are helping a bit. Kinds of hard to do a story when told to scoot, eh.

The unique thing about what you do is shoot video and get to the point. Excellent footage and you need to travel around area picking up good videos and then contacting either the local news media (tv) and/or newspapers for still shots. There's money to be made if you are willing to drive - get a hybrid. Again - great work.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm glad you liked it! I am going to try to contact the local paper since many times they don't cover some of the emergencies after business hours. As for weddings I have done a couple for family and friends and enjoyed but it is very stressful cause I would sure hate to mess up the memories of someones big day. I would like to do another wedding sometime with my new camera because I could really do some neat things with it... Thanks again everyone!

Great job weatherman!!! If I had my own car and a good camera I would do the same exact thing, not to mention chase storms too lol. Anyway, keep up the good work and hopefully some day soon you can start making money by doing this.

Nice work Kevin.
Were you able to check out the Fire website that I posted a while back. I think you would fit in nicely over there.

Thank you once again slcpdexplorer! Yeah I've checked out the website and would like to join but since I'm affiliated with the fire department now some of my video and pictures can be used for investigational purposes, which would restrict them from being put on the web. So due to that I'm hesitant to post some of them but I will check into things with the fire dept and see if there will be any issues with putting them on that site.

My name is Kevin and I live in a small town about 80 miles south of St. Louis. I attended Fredericktown High School and graduated in 2008. I currently am a sales associate at our Wal-Mart Supercenter. Also I'm a firefighter (Unit 812) and the photographer for the Fredericktown Fire Department. After high school I will be attending Mineral Area College and majoring in the allied health program. I have loved weather since I was a little kid and always looked at meteorology as a career but my struggles in math and a small job market for meteorologists it will just be a hobby for me. I'm also a volunteer storm spotter for the NWS in Stl. Other hobbies I enjoy are photography(still and video) listening to my scanner and watching FOX 2 of course!
