This evening in Fredericktown, MO a 13 year old male was crushed between a vehicle and porch according to scanner traffic. The child suffered a broken Tibia ( the large bone in the upper leg) and also injuries to the knee. He was treated by Madison County EMS and then flew by ARCH helicopter from the scene to a St. Louis hospital. The patient would have been flown by AIr Evac but they were unable to fly due to windy conditions. I would like to wish him and his family the best. Also a good job to EMS, ARCH, and fire crews to responding to the scene in a timley manner.

Below are some pictures of the scene and a video of ARCH landing......

good video....ARCH kicks arse....the large bone in the upper leg is the femur not the tibia fyi....air evac sucks....if you need to be medi-vacced out your insurance will pay for it....no need to pay the yearly "membership fee"....everytime i see one of those stickers on the back of a vehicle i think it should say "air evac life sucker"....

Glad you guys liked everything. I did hear some more today and he's doing just fine. He has had to have some surgery and has had pins put in his leg. Also thanks for the correction just_wondering, I noticed that last night Tibia is in lower leg Femur is in upper leg. The Femur was the bone that was broken, along with injuries to the knee.

The femur is the thigh leg bone. The tibia is in the lower leg. I hope the boy is okay.

Hey just_wondering, your comment about Air Evac isn't always try. My friend had a heart attack and had to be flow out. Insurance denied the helicopter ride because he could have been transported by Ambulance instead. He had a membership so it saved him $8,000. It really depends on the insurance and they way they work right now, I don't trust that they will pay for anything, necessary or not. Weatherman, great job for keeping your eyes open and reporting this story. My prayers are with this boy and his family. Do they know what caused the accident? Was anyone charged?

Thanks for letting me know about that Patrick. That is really neat! As a matter of fact I did look at the instructional blog from Elliot Weiler to find out how to post the video. I also thank Dave for saying I'm one of the great weather bloggers out there.

As for the injured boy, I do believe he will be coming home tomorrow. I've also heard he's been in good spirits throughout the ordeal. I'm sure the family appreciates all the prayers.

My name is Kevin and I live in a small town about 80 miles south of St. Louis. I attended Fredericktown High School and graduated in 2008. I currently am a sales associate at our Wal-Mart Supercenter. Also I'm a firefighter (Unit 812) and the photographer for the Fredericktown Fire Department. After high school I will be attending Mineral Area College and majoring in the allied health program. I have loved weather since I was a little kid and always looked at meteorology as a career but my struggles in math and a small job market for meteorologists it will just be a hobby for me. I'm also a volunteer storm spotter for the NWS in Stl. Other hobbies I enjoy are photography(still and video) listening to my scanner and watching FOX 2 of course!
