The Christmas Chins

I took pictures for my annual chinchilla-themed Christmas cards tonight. This year I have two new chinchillas for a total of six. I have two girls in one cage, one girl who doesn't like to play nice in another cage and three boys in the last cage. My husband only let me take in the two new boys because my little brothers were neglecting them and because I promised I'd have all three boys live together in the same cage.

So here are (in order left to right) Astro and his biological sons AJ and Cotton (the new guys).

You have enough chinchillas to make a hat. Maybe if you put the boy chinchillas in cages with girl chinchillas, you’d end up with enough to make a coat.

JUST KIDDING! I love animals and those little buggers are really cute.

How are they at pets? They kind of look like a cross between a guinea pig, rabbit and a rat.

I’m not helping myself here, am I?

Too cute!!! I have always loved chinchillas. A student brought one up here once while she was studying and it was just the funniest to watch it explore someplace new. So soft and beautiful.

They have the ears of a mouse, tail of a squirrel and body of a bunny. As far as personality they are similar to a squirrel, rat or rabbit. They recognize and remember things, but they don't sit in my lap for petting. They'd rather run and explore.

I love the chins!! I have always wanted one, but hubby said they're very fragile. Oh well, I can't take care of one now, anyway. Yours are absolutely beautiful!! You should post their pics more often :)
