My 2 year old son enjoys taking care of his sister's baby dolls.  Especially the one who talks.  She says "Mommy, I want my bottle" and "Mommy I want to eat" and other "mommy" sayings.

I was wondering if there are any dolls that ask "Daddy" to feed them?

I don't have any issues with my son playing with baby dolls.  I think it shows a wonderful nuturing side that all people should have, not only girls.

What do you think?

(I should add that he also plays with cars, trucks, tools and other "boy" toys.)

I don't think it's a bad idea. I just wonder how receptive people would be to it after all it would be out of the norm. My son also shows a nuturing side to his family which I rather enjoy but his dad worries about so I think he would question buying a doll for him that wasn't GI Joe.

It's just a phase..... He wants to feel included...... Little boys always compete for attention with their sisters.....

Daddy is probably in denial but tell him he probably played with dolls when he was little too.....lol

J your a good momma so whatever you feel in this situation is probably right .. Your son seems to be very well behaved and will grow to be a gentleman with love and respect for everyone ..

i am not sure how the Child developement classes work now but i think that the male and female students take part in caring for the animated baby .. As the world changes and momma is sometimes the bread winner it might be a good idea for the MR Moms to know how to take care of the kids ...

Hey they play with Ken doll's,GI joe, spiderman etc. Our son played with our daughter's Barbie and she played with his spiderman and Bionic man etc. So what ? I have never heard on one saying daddy tho.Maybe you need to be the first to invent. LOL.
Oh and some point he and his little friend's started tearing their head's off and throwing them in the sewer.
Yeah he has been divoriced twice. Maybe that was a sign huh?

I can see nothing wrong with your son playing with dolls. But, don't hold your breath for a doll that wants daddy. The media has men portrayed as incapable parents (how many commercials and tv programs portray men as anything but complete idiots?). They are also constantly portrayed as wife beaters and child molesters.

I know that there are more good fathers out there than there are bad ones, but, you'd never know it from the media.

How about a build-a-bear? My boys each have one of those and treat them like babies. They are animals, not people so there is no worry/argument/concern about the "doll" thing.

Of course, my son just got a pet rock and treats that like a baby, too.

Yeah even tho there are different types of "dolls" for boys....mine didnt do barbies but have tons of stuffed animals. And my 8 yr old is in to the whole webkinz thing and even my 12 yr old a little (he is a young 12).

Nothing wrong with it...now letting them dress in a dress and nail polish...hhmmm....lol...
