But you'll have to go online to see the MTV I grew up with -- and enjoyed as a teen.
MTVMusic.com just launched on the web -- and it's a great way to see some of the best, classic rock videos of all time -- especially the ones from the dawn of the music video age (the early 1980s).
I hope you get a chance to check it out. By the way, what's your favorite music video ever?
I'm leaning towards Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" or Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (because of Halloween). But I'm sure I'm forgetting a few that would send be back in time.

I understand there are legitimate reasons for allowing people to vote prior to election day (through absentee balloting). After all, if you're genuinely going to be out of town, out of country or just can't get out of work, you still have your right to vote.
On the flip side, I wonder if this election (and future elections) is becoming an election out of convenience (i.e. I'll only vote if it fits my schedule).
Here's my argument. Voting is one of the things that sets this country apart from many others in the world. Anyone can enter the voting booth, cast a vote for whomever they choose, and be a part of the process. So why does it bother me that more people don't just make the time to vote ON election day?
You hear it all the time -- only 10% or 15% turnout on election days. Now, certainly this presidential election will draw out more people. But when I start hearing about 50% turnout, I still wonder where the other 50% are; what are they doing?
What do you think?

This is some of the craziest video I've ever seen out of college football. If you haven't seen it, take a moment -- and watch the move an SEC referee put on a South Carolina quarterback.
I guarantee, you'll be playing this over and over again.

Okay, so some of you have noticed the new look on the blogs page. And yes, it came without little notice from our friends at FOX. We knew it was coming -- just didn't really know exactly when.
This is part of what will be the first in several changes on MyFoxMilwaukee.com. The look in the coming weeks will change -- to look cleaner. We're also expecting it to be more functional for us and you too.
If you have any questions, post a comment to this blog and I'll check in every once in a while to see what's on your mind. As we know more, we'll pass the information on too.

Anybody out there concerned about all the hints this election could be wrought with fraud?
No matter what network you watch these days, you hear mentions about groups that are soliciting people to register to vote. I'm good with that as long as it's on the up and up.
But apparently in Indiana, someone registered with the name Jimmy Johns -- the address was the restaurant of the same name. Then there's Tony Romo and his teammates allegedly registering in Las Vegas. And there's more.
No matter who you back in this presidential election, I just hope the election is won legitimately. No funny stuff. No bad votes. No "fake" names. One person, one vote -- that's all.

Really, I did. I was picking up my daughter in the Franklin - Hales Corners area (where the city lights are clearly dampened) and right in front of us, a ball of fire appeared out of nowhere.
It was too high in the sky to be a firework from some neighborhood. And it certainly couldn't have been an aircraft of any kind -- because after about three seconds, it vanished into the night sky.
Turns out, after confiding with Vince Condella, what we saw was indeed a shooting star -- or more technically known as a bolide. When I got home, I had to look it up on the web. Turns out, these bolides can be as small as a grain of sand -- or as big as a boulder -- and turn into fireballs as they enter our planet's atmosphere.
The sight of this thing in the night sky mesmerized me and my daughter.
And yes, we both wished on it.

I've been a life-long Brewers fan. I can still remember my first game at County Stadium. I went there with my little league baseball team -- and sat in the right-field bleachers. My dad bought me one of those tiny little wooden bats (I still have this souvenir) with the Barrel guy stamped into it.
Watching Sunday's game with my family was something special. My son's a diehard Brewers fan. My wife and daughter -- big fans too. This post-season venture for the Brewers is more than just a five-game series. It's something that'll bring this town together in ways we haven't seen for decades.
Soak it up... Enjoy it... Stop and look around if you get the chance to go to a game... Believe.

If you didn't have an opportunity to take part in this year's Ridin' to a Cure, you missed out on a special event.
For starters, the weather was phenomenal! How can you argue with temperatures that ended up in the upper 70s and low 80s by the time the ride ended. And full sun! Riders like myself were peeling off layers all morning long.
Second, you have to give a HUGE kudos to the dozens of people who organized this event. From the flag-waving volunteers to the main people on the scene -- everything was run like clockwork. If you were even remotely confused -- or unsure about what was going on, you weren't trying very hard to get answers. There were people asking if you needed help all morning long.
I took part in the ride with my wife (a breast cancer survivor) on the back of my bike. This is our second year riding. My parents also rode. If you'd like to see some of the pictures I took prior to and during the ride,
If you get a chance, get involved in some way next year. Ride, volunteer, just show up and soak it up. This is a group that knows what's what. They take care of their riders, their workers. A huge thanks from FOX 6 to Ridin' to a Cure. We hope to join you again next year.

The weather this week has been out of this world! I could take this kind of weather 350 days a year -- and let it rain or snow the other 15.
What's so great about the weather we've been dealt? It's warm during the day -- but not overly so. It's cool at night -- although no need to throw an extra blanket on the bed. And everyone's in a great mood.
Funny, except for possibly one week in August, we really haven't had this kind of a nice dry spell with cool temps all summer long. Bring it on.

And no, I'm not looking for a cookie or a pat on the back. I actually went to the polls on Tuesday out of sheer curiosity. I wanted to know what was actually on the ballot -- and whether anybody else like myself was going to take the time to go to the polls.
As it turns out, when I went to the polls at 8:15am, I was number 7. Only six people came in before me -- and judging by the looks on the poll workers' faces, they were excited to see me.
When I got the ballot, there was only one contested race -- and nearly a dozen uncontested ones. I know people can write-in candidate names if they so choose. But it seems like a ridiculous waste of paper to make one little mark with a pencil -- and then jam the paper into the machine.
So what's my point? Not sure there is one. Although, it would have been nice to see a few more people at the polls. After all, when people are upset about their lawmakers, they have no one but themselves to blame for not taking a role in keeping that person in or out.
I'm sure it'll be different come November.
