Over the past decade with so many different disaster that have happen on our continent would you trust FEMA or create your own survival strategy for your family.

My Honey and I have decided to put together 6 backpacks for each member of our household and give them a meeting place.  No matter where you are get that backpack and head to your destination.  If you do not make it, then some one will come check for in you one of FEMA's camps.

I can not say FEMA has improved over the pass decade, however, if you feel they have.. great for you..but if we all have a meeting place during fires in our home, or tornadoes, why not for a major disaster..whether its war, bomb, astriod, etc.

We feel our chance of survival for our family would be greater not relying on FEMA.

P.S.  Webteam if you decide to toss me in the hotbox with this you pick the correct category.  I am tired of guessing.  =P

Well we have our plan's and disater pack. But incase we are away or our survival thing's get blown away in a tornado ,the I guess we may have to ask fema for help if we needed too.

No plan is perfect but yours makes sense may want to include financial plans too. This will allow the FEMA regulars (people who show up for handouts and who were not in the disaster) to be processed more quickly. I certainly applaud your attitude. You are a great American.

well fema did good for the hermann people in 93, bought out the houses that people gave up on and must have been good prices... if it ever gets so bad that i need a survival kit, other then power outages in a icestorm, i'd rather die..

Based on past performance, forget about FEMA and develop and fund your own plan. If anything good comes from FEMA its a bonus.

I have my own disaster plan, both physical and financial. If the government steps in and helps out, that's great. But, those who are dependent on the government are the ones who will be the first to complain. When dealing with natural disasters such as a flood, it would be impossible for any agency to provide immediate and permanent relief.
