With all the rain its only a matter of days, weeks before these little buggers come out and haunt us. So, here is a tip.

There are 5 plants that I know of that help keep mosquito's away:

1. Citronella
grass is, of course, where companies get the citronella oil. Stop buying those candles and just plant the grass in areas of your flower bed

2. Catnip is an herb that is most commonly used to stuff in toys or feed to cats for their enjoyment. It actually does help all though your kittykat and friends maybe be partying alot.

3. Rosemary while they are attractive plants that both repel mosquitoes and can add interest to your cooking

4. Marigold have a particular smell that many insects and humans find objectionable. They are a good plant for repelling mosquitoes as well as insects that can attack vegetable plants and aphids.

5. Mosquito Plant I have never planted these in my garden but this what I have researched on this plant. Simply crush the leaves or flowers to release the oils and put them in a quantity of alcohol or vodka. Once the mosquito repellent oils have infused the liquid, you can use it just as you would one of the more harmful chemical repellents.

Perky, thats good to know. Mosquito's don't like me anyways. I think its from the medications I'm on. LOL So number 5 suggest you get them drunk? No wonder they didn't like me when I was an active alcoholic. LOL Have a great weekend lady.

Any suggestions on where to buy these plants? A friend of mine says when the mosquito's see her they yell "come on boys -- it's a buffet".

Citronella also known as Lemongrass. Marigold, Rosemary Catnip can be found anywhere that is selling plants or seed packets. As for the Mosquito plant I have no idea where to find that.

I always use seed packets.
