TRUTH HURTS

Let me first say that I have no ties to the company besides the fact that I shop there regularly.

I am so sick of these union people trying to drag Wal Mart down. I realize it is not all of them and there are certainly good people in unions but give it a rest. Get over the fact that you stood to make a kajillion dollars in union dues off Wal Mart employees and they didn't want you in there. I don't blame them. And as a shopper at Wal Mart I am glad because I wouldn't be able to afford it if they did.

I shop where it best fits my budget, I shop at all different stores based on the best value for my family and if Wal Mart can give that to me I will shop there, if not I won't. Bottom line.

They do alot of good in the community, I would rather they give millions of dollars to the Children's Miracle Network than the unions. I am sure if you look at the company through a microscope like they have been, you will find something shady but that is with any company, There are thousands of employees and not all of them are going to be on the up and up. Saying they are not Christian is laughable. Most people I know laughed at those ads that ran last year at Christmas about that.

Wal Mart is not the only huge company that runs smaller companies out of town, what about Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Not too many little local hardware stores around either is there?

I really wish the media would stop covering their VERY SMALL protests -aren't there other things going on?  Boy that will be front page news for the Post Dispatch "25 people are not happy with Wal Mart" out of the millions that shop there.

FIND A BETTER CAUSE

Wel-Mart treats its workers like dirt.

I would think that's all that needs to be said.

Except without unions we all would be working for about a dollar a day, 12 hours a day, no vacation, no health benefits, no sick leave, etc.

Corporate American doesn't give a good dog durn about any of us except for our money and as just another resource to exploit

Wal-Mart has helped to put many a good company and U.S. worker out of a job.

The protests are very valid.

But we are FORCED into buying China goods. There is no other option for us AMERICANS to buy, so we have to shop at places like walmart, home depot, and lowes. Those mom and pop places are dying off because they don't have the funds to fight corp. They need people like us to fight with them and help them to stay open by patronizing their stores but you can't because you can't make the dollar stretch with the economy the way it is.
Those that don't want to shop china goods then STOP shopping at walmart. STOP STOP STOP that IS the BOTTOM LINE. Walmart can't survive without the AMERICAN peoples MONEY.

Over half the companies out there treat their workers like dirt! My husband just left a job that he had been in for many years because they just kept piling more on him and taking away more benefits. That particular industry has been doing it for years and they are union. He is not union because he was in management but he left because he is a free thinking human being. He got a better job and it has worked out terrific. The people at my WalMart half the time are standing around laughing and socializing, Every job has its rough days when you have to work your butt off because you are busy and maybe you don't get all your breaks. And the made in China thing is not just Walmart-that is a countrywide problem that can only be solved at the top. There is much more to it than just Walmart. Even mom and pop stores in say-Branson -all their souveniers are usually made in China.

Didnt schnucks, dierbergs and shop n save run the mom and pop groceries out of business?

Arent they all union?

Weird how its ok if it a union that does it but let walmart do it and that makes them communists.

Unskilled labor doesnt pay, it never has, nor should it ever pay as well as a skilled job. Sorry, but that the fact of life in the real world.

Sell american made products at a FAIR PRICE and people will buy them, but since US made is more expensive and not always even a better product people will shop according their pockbooks.

do not like to shop at wal mart very much. once in a while i will sneak in(my hubby is union)and do a little stocking up on things. it just seems like the people that work there are uneducated and unskilled at working with people in general. i prefer target. the difference in the employees at those two stores is huge.

I could care less that Walmart is not union... But a company that started in Arkansas and was nearly 100 percent American made products is now nearly 20000000000 percent Chinese imports.......

You do the math.......

Unions had their day. I will never support a system that promotes someone simply for reporting to work. A union does not promote someone to do a good job, they simply promote based on seniority. Sorry, stop being lazy and doing as little as possible and then get a promotion????? Don't like Wal-mart don't shop there, there are so many other stores. Also, when are people going to realize that a job in a retail establishment as a sales clerk or stock clerk is not a job where you are going to make more than $10. Sorry skill level defines pay scale. Cry to someone else.

That's a good one - as workers, we are all treated like such dirt on a daily basis that we've become numbed by it and don't even consider it an issue!

It is an issue.

But I agree - we could all shop somewhere else. Personally, I don't shop a Wal-Mart more because every time I have tried to go in there, it's all hoosiers running around cutting you off because they are so excited about saving so much money on a product made by the Chinese for about a dime. That tells me volumes about the type of people who don't mind helping some rich privileged twit's family get even filthier rich off of the backs of the American worker. I suppose some of them won't learn until their job making $50 an hour screwing a part into a jet fighter wing also goes overseas.

I don't bother to protest Wal-Mart. I just don't shop there.

So, Wal-Mart supporters, just go on continuing to shop there. In addition to putting your taste in shopping on display for all to see, you're also helping along the slow demise of the American working class lifestyle.

But, hey, if you already got yours, why should any of us worry?

I shop everywhere and everybody is selling crap made in china. Its not just Walmart. I agree that there was a time when unions were a good thing, but with the way the ecomomy is there is no way that people can afford union dues, much less the gas that goes in there cars.

In my observation I see cheep imported items in most every store. The fact is America does not even produce most of those items anymore because its not cost efficiant with the labor costs in America. Import items are made by people who work for wages that may get them by in thier country but but not here. The cost of living here is much higher. This issue has a dirty trail that leeds back to the companies that have excessively paid CEO's that suck up all the profits not leaving enough to pay an American worker a proper wages. If the CEO's don't make what they want they sell out or close shop and work in another sector. Thus leaving workers out of a job looking elswhere for work. Its a no brainer who gets a job first and who makes the most.(the CEO's). The retailors are at the end of the food chain just above the consumer. Again the CEO's of the retailors make more than they need. Its trickle down and did not start with the retailors. If the products we need are not made in the U.S. where are they suposed to get them from? The issue is deeper and older than it seems.

Unions are very important, if these places had unions these places would pay a decent salary so employees can afford more. they would have healthcare so not nearly as many people would be on the dole of the state.
Walmart and companys like them are the huge profiteers of our time. It wouldn't kill them to have unions, keep the same prices, and lose just a minute amount of their profits!
People who are looking ahead for the betterment of our country better get behind union organizing and stop worring about their own measley purse. With more union jobs, your purse will be more full.
Are you people sleeping?

Unions don't have to bring Wal-mart down they'll do it themselves. Their greed will eat them alive some day.

Popeye - unions are about as important as a parachute is to a frog.

You would probably be at the head of the line protesting the increased prices for merchandise after they gave away all of the perks you want them to.

Perhaps you should do your shopping at Central Hardware.......ooooops, wait a minute, I think the RCIA put them out of business.

I also shop wal-mart, not because I want to, but because I have to.
But I have to say that yes they do treat their workers like dirt. My husband worked for them & they don't give a crap about their employees, and we couldn't afford healthcare they offered either!

I HATE UNIONS. I USED TO WORK AT SCHNUCKS. YOU MAY NOT EVEN GET A PAYCHECK BECAUSE THE DUES COME OUT FIRST. I WAS SICK AND ONLY ENDED WORKING 4 HOURS. MY PAYCHECK WAS $8.OO BECAUSE THE UNION DUES COME OUT FIRST. UNIONS ARE ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY. THEY START NEW PEOPLE AT SCHNUCKS AT ABOUT $7.00 AN HOUR PLUS YOU HAVE TO JOIN THE UNION AND YOU DON'T GET ANY BENEFITS FOR 2 YEARS. WHO SAYS THE UNION IS GOOD. THE BIG SHOTS AT THE UNIONS ARE GETTING RICH NOT THE WORKERS.
