Serenity Now!

I have a thought that often runs through my mind.  I decided to throw it out there and see if anyone else has ever felt the same way...

Do you ever feel like you were born to live somewhere else?

Why do you live where you live? What influenced you to put down roots where you are today?

So many where I'm from were born and raised here, stayed in the area and built their lives from there.  Some go away to college and live where ever their careers take them.  Some people are transferred because of their job.

I have always felt that I belong on the Gulf.  I'm a beach bum :-)...Whenever I'm there it's the greatest feeling in the world to me. I never tire of it.  You've heard the old saying "it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there"...well, I want to live there lol...I've spent most of my years as a frequent visitor of the coast. Why is it "vacation" and not my residence? Because I was one that built my life where I was raised.  I encouraged my kids to go away to college for many reasons but one in particular was to experience whats out there, new places.

Where do you feel you were born to live or are you happy right where you're at?

I would have loved to live a couple of years in different places.

I always think of it like this: You die and go to heaven; you are talking with the other spirits in heaven and you say, "When I was down there, I stayed right there, (pointing my finger), I didn't move around all over." But, to each his own. Whatever makes you happy.

When I am in Washington, Mo, I feel like I belong there. I feel real comfortable and at ease there.

I'm with you girl! Give me the ocean!

What's funny is I always hated sand when I was a kid. It gets everywhere you DON'T want it!

But our scuba diving trips have shown me how much I really do like the ocean and being near it.

Someday, hubby and will live near the water!

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved here to MO when I married. Hubby was a pilot and flew out of Lambert so we had to live close. If I had my way we'd be back in WI. I love the snow and cold. My family also lives there and I miss them terribly. Now that the kids are off on their own, I hope we can move back there in the next few years.

WOW.....great blog. I am a transplant, lived here for 18 years now. I left my home place, never liked it back in illinois or the area. Funny how some people are motivated to move. My whole family, cousins, aunts , uncles, friends all live in that area, never thinking or dreaming to move elsewhere. It's totally unheard of. I moved here partly due to an estated settlement also. I'm one where i live is home....i have felt more here at home than the place i ever was raised at, know more people and do business with than back home. Its funny how one can change and adapt. Bad thing is YES i could move again, where i don't know...when visiting friends in colorado and working with them...thats home. I have frieds all over out west and in canada. I have always said its a shame we only get one life to live...i'd like to come back and live a life time in different parts of world...or then maybe we do and thats why we dreamed of living in those places since they were home in a previous life! Once again....great blog.

I like this blog. Just before I finished high school my father was transferred. We moved from High Ridge, MO to Bowling Green, KY. That move allowed me to attend college at a much cheaper price than if I had stayed here in MO. Just after college I moved overseas to Spain, on the northern sea coast, it was cold and wet at times and I loved it, I lived in the country for awhile and in the city for awhile, I liked them both. Later, I moved to the interior part of Spain, hot and brown, a large city and I learned to love it. When I returned to the States, I moved to Crawford Co., MO, the country, what High Ridge use to be before it became a St. Louis suburb. This is where my parents had originally been born, where my grandparents, great grandparents, etc... back to 1830 or so lived. I love it. My brothers often say I should move closer to the city, I would make better money. I could be happy in the city if I needed to move but for now my choice is to stay where I am. I love the country life. I've travelled overseas extensively and seen several places I could live, I love Colorado and Florida and North Carolina. I could be happy in any of them but for now, this is home and I'm happy.

I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. I lived in Springfield Illinois for a short time, then back up to Chicago. We moved down here to St. Charles County 5 years ago. I love Missouri, I'll never move back to Chicago. We visit a few times a year, but I always like coming back to my home here. Things are way too busy up there now. But I know one thing for sure, You can take the girl out of Chicago, but you can't take Chicago out of the girl!! Great blog!
