Chat Room changes

As our regular visitors to myFOXstl.com know, we had 2 different chat rooms on our site.

We installed a standalone chat room back in November that only allowed you to chat if you logged in, and then we added another chat room on our live streaming pages just after Super Tuesday.

Over the past few weeks, we let these two chat rooms "duke it out" and see which one would be the best for our site. It seems that the live feed chat room has far outweighed the first chat room. It allows viewers to chat about the news or breaking news events, it gives viewers a chance to add their own avatars, and the webteam has the ability to delete chats or ban bad chatters. And as far as popularity, the live feed chat room had 5x more page views than the standalone chat room.

Hey POB it was fun while it lasted. After the last couple of days with new chatters coming in there and acting the way they did, I can understand you decision...dont like it but understand...
Live feed chat room is to small for me I will be going to yahoo messanger.

Thanks everyone for your comments. When we look at the amount of popularity for the month of February, 260,000 page views compared to 60,000 page views is quite a difference. We had to choose one or the other.

Plus, it was confusing to tell viewers to go to our chat room when we had two different ones.

The live stream chat is chaotic. One reason it probably had more page views was that you had a HUGE BANNER AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE directing people how to get there while people always had to search for the other link. Don't you think that maybe had a huge impact on driving traffic to the live stream?

Very unfortunate decision.

OK if you can watch the news on live feed why would we want to chat about it? Its not like we would see it as much as the news repeats.
Problems in the chat room usually resulted from a blogs being blown out of proportion,
anger and jealousy. Im very disappointed in your decision.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BAD DECISION!

The other chat room was very user friendly and not annoying like the news chat, it is way too chaotic in there. This is a pathetic joke

Question: This chat is on a platform shared by all the Fox stations nationwide - is this a station by station decision or is Fox shutting it down nationwide? I'm not quite buying the "duking it out" theory.

I also think it is a little biased since whenever you watch the live news, you are automatically signed in to the chat room there.
MANY MANY people go to that page to see news and NEVER chat at all....
But I suppose it's all about revenue, huh?

Well Patrick, I checked out the live chat and I only saw 2 people. Old chat has 10 in there and their all saying that their going to leave. some have talked about yahoo to get together. This is a truely bad decision. I know there have been some blogs that have gotten out of control and it's very sad that people cannot respect others opinion. Thats why the people go to the chat to get away from all the argueing. When you close down the chat room I'm afraid that people will turn off their TV sets or watch another station. I love it here and i'm always saying on those blogs to Give Peace a Chance. I have stayed with the bloggers who's blog aren't controversal. BUT PLEASE DO NOT TAKE AWAY THE CHAT ROOM. Sorry if it sounded like I was rambleing. I'm just VERY upset.

I will blog on Glenn's blog in the mornings like I do now and have been since he started it

I have a very very sick mom and I don't get on the chat room and I will only blog on Glenn's blog from now on and nobody else so if somebody uses my name and says something wrong then you need to call me b/c I don't play these kind of petty games.
