A little love goes a long way.

When somebody has a tragedy in their lives a little love and comfort is the most important thing that they could experience...... Even if you are at a loss of words a card or just the words I'm so sorry is so  comforting to the ones in mourning.... Sending a card or signing the guest book and just being there is very important for the last thing someone needs is to be alone when mourning..... Prayers are somehow heard even if you are thousands of miles away..... I have been recieving cards and calls from people that I almost forgot  existed and was instantly reminded of the great close friendship that we once and obviously still have....  Now I have a new list of people that  needs calling and am wanting to visit with..... It seems as we age that some friendships drift apart but never die.......

Have you any friends you've almost forgot..??

As a young girl,I learned a song at Girl Scout camp and it went like this...
'make new friends and keep the old
One is silver and the other gold"

It's wonderful to receive comfort from old friends during a time when you need it the most. I remember several months after my mother died, I was having a hard day. I was missing her and feeling very sad. When I got home, there was a card in my mailbox from a friend that I had forgotten about. It made my day and brought me so much comfort...I know that I will be there for her when she needs me too.
I am still praying for you Tommy. How are you doing?

I have a girl friend that we hear from each other at christmas every year. We were best friend's all through school.I married ,she married and we had not seen each other for 12 year's. I finally tracked her down. Seen her and then it was 15 year's before I seen her again. But I send a card every year. I found out her sister lived in DeSoto and she was going to be there Christmas. So we drove up there and surprised her. It was a nice 3 hour visit. I have talked to her on the phone a couple time's since. But we have totally different life's. But we remember each other.
Sometime's it isn't that we forget about friend's. Sometime's it is just life goes on and we get to busy.I get in bed at night and think Oh! shoot I was going to call so and so. Even tho I thought about calling that morning and got busy and forgot. I am not a phone person. Sometime's thing's are a spur of the moment. But I won't call before 10a.m or after 8 p.m. I finally get around to checking in with them. But there are a lot of old friend's I would like to see. But they move around. We don't.They alway's know where we are.We keep the same phone number, they don't. Old and new friend's know where we are and know they are welcome. Just call first even tho we don't like going anywhere on our off day's once in a great while we do. We are home 95 % of the time. We love company.

I've never been the best with words in a sad situation. But over the years i have found out if you don't know what to say, then give that person a firm handshake followed by a tight long hug. Seems to help better than anything i could ever have said.
