You go to church at midnight?? Wow, I didn't know about that...my church just has a special Christmas service on whichever Sunday falls before Christmas. But I am guessing it is beautiful...I went to a Catholic mass for the first time recently for the Advent. It was at night and the whole church was lit up with candles. A choir sang behind us, but way up high. The preacher spoke sort of solemnly (I had a hard time paying attention to that part...I am used to our preacher who just speaks to us in a normal way). I have never seen anything like it, but I will say that it was one of the most beautiful services I have ever seen.

Except for the Easter Vigil Mass, Christmas Midnight Mass is my favorite. My COPD sometimes keeps me from it but I hope to make it this year.
I glad you had the opprotunity to attend mass, Michelle. I hope your friends could help you with any questions you may have had about the service. Maybe you would like to attend an Easter Vigil Mass it's usually about 2 hours long or more. A truly wonderful celebration of salvation history. It starts at dusk Saturday before Easter.
Have a Merry Christmas.

I had a thousand questions after the service and fortunately was with someone who patiently answered every one of them....

Now that I know they do it at midnight on Christmas, I might try to go again. It was so beautiful that I actually cried...I don't know why, I just did.

I was raised Catholic, but not attend a non-denominational church. That was my favorite service....the Midnight mass. Always so packed that there would be people lined up out the doors! And it was always special. There was several things I had issues with in the Catholic church growing up....but I absolutely loved Midnight mass.
I wouldnt mind finding a good one to go to out here and take my hubby and kids. That would be a neat way to bring in Christmas....
We had our candlelight service already and it was great! Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas for those I wont see tonight.

Always remember midnight Mass in Cleveland Ohio with the Grandparents. We will be attending this year in Edwardsville. Very peaceful.

We will be attending Christmas Eve Mass at 5:00pm. I love that they have an early eve mass.
When I was 7, I carried baby Jesus to the manger in front of church during Midnight mass. The priest at our church would always choose a second grader to do it every year and I got the honor. It was very special.
