I know a guy that recently started applying for disability for a shoulder surgery he had. This man fishes on the river, out IN a boat, Every chance he gets. Ive seen him re doing old cars, mowing his lawn & partying it up at the local bars. IS this what we call disabled? Or how bout the ones that claim they have bad backs but yet they can Dance the nite away? This one gets me too, the ppl that are over weight that recieve disability. ARE you kidding me? Everyone i know is over weight but they get up and GO to work. My mother had half her nose chopped off due to skin cancer and she dont qualify for disability but OVER WEIGHT ppl do? Im not knockin over weight ppl cuz im in that catagory myself, so is my husband but he works 60+hrs a wk. I see a kid at our local grocery store that has Down Syndrome, he brings the carts in and bags groceries and does a GREAT job.  Ive seen Deaf, Blind, mentally challenged people work but others just take advantage of it therefor the people that really need it have to Play Hell trying to get it.  Cant work but can sit on the couch 10hrs a day watchin soap operas, god knows theres NO sit down jobs to apply for. Just blows my mind! My mother has had no income for over 2 months, but disability is NOT an option for her. These people need to be reported!

I hear if you claim to be an alcoholic or addicted to drugs it's easy to get disability. Just go in drunk.

If this person had shoulder surgery and he's using that as an excuse the recovery for such is about a month unless you pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals then it's 2 years.

This person is milking the system and soon his boat will sink.

put it this way. people with something wrong with them are trying to prove to themselvs that they are alright. i spent 6 days in the hospital and after being there that long i was glad to get back to work and to see for myself that i was well enough to continue to work.

I know alot of people that are like that . No good to report as they alway's tell me that not enough man power. Plus you have to be off work 6 month's to quailfy. If you are terminal you qualify before that but don't get anything for 6 month's .Does that seem fair. I think not. But yet a person who is able to work, won't or to darn lazy. I know people who need's to be on disability and can but the young man up the road does the same thing the guy you are talking about and has 4 kid's he get's money on. Not far. The system is broke and to hard to fix it.

My cousin just got turned down from Social Security for disabilty, she has nerve damage in her back, and slipped discs, she can't stand or sit for any length of time. She has worked all her life, now at 56 years of age, she had no income coming in. I think it's a disgrace. I know of someone that is receiving disabilty and works part time and is no more disabled than I am. Plus she pulls in more money in a month that I make in a month. This system is terrible.

Maybe he healed up and his doctor forgot to tell him.......lol

But on a serious note.... People on disability are checked up on by private investigators.... Not all of them but a lot..... If they are caught then they are prosecuted for fraud and also are ordered to pay back a lot of money....

There was a guy that was drawing disability for his back and a private eye photographed him in a tree trimming branches for a tree trimming company that he was employed by....

If your on disability and a pretty girl asks yo to dance just remember that she might be a detective.....

The Disability Social Security system does have a lot of flaws. The bad one is if are a drunk or a junkie you can claim chemical dependence and receive money to support your habbit or trade which ever it may be.

To receive disability benefits you have to be off work for 6 months. Then you are eligible to apply disability, it may take 2-4 months to be approved. Once you are approved they will back pay you to the first day of eliglbility.

After you are approved for disability you have to wait 2 years to be eligible for Medicare. Unless you are disabled due to renal failure you are then eligible for Medicare as soon as you are eligible for disability.

People that get disability are also allowed to work as long as they don't make over a certain amount for the year.

Now I ask you, if they are not able to work and get disability why is it ok for them to work? If a person is accepted for disability then they should not be allowed to work at all.

I know a few people that is getting disability and got part time jobs.

I even had a man at the doctors office tell me that he lost everything because he was on disability and worked to many hours which caused his salary to be over the limit, so they cut him off and is making him pay all the back pay for the years he made over the limit.
I ask him, why did he not make sure that he did't make over limit and he said was that he thought his boss would make sure not to let him work more hours that he should. Now the guy has to work two jobs, has not medical and has to pay back the money.

Disability people should not be allowed to work at all. If they can work in the first place then they don't need disability.

This is another way the government waste the tax payers money.

I have been trying to get disability for 1 1/2 years. They turn me down because i don't have enough work credits. Problem is, I don't think there is an employer who would hire me because I need to lay down every hour or so.

Momo, my sister's husband hurt his back several years ago while working construction and the doctor declared him as disabled. He has been trying, for the past 3yrs, to get a release from the doctor so that he can go back to work, no go! He works around the house taking care of their horses (all 8 of them), building a pole barn, putting up fences and tossing hay bales. He says he feels fine but the doctor still refuses to take him off disability. He has tried working odd jobs but they have to pay him “under the table” so as not to get into trouble with the law. He wants to get off disability but hasn’t been able to.

I would give anything in this world besides the health safety and wellbeing of my kids to not be disabled and draw SSDI and my corporate benfits.
