A week or two ago I was watching my favorite local news channel, Fox 2. I was watching the evening news show then the anchor said something that turned my stomach and made me change the channel. It was the story about John Edwards and a dirty diaper. Yes, do you remember it? The anchor (I think it was Margie, but I am not sure) reported that some gossip mag got hold of a dirty diaper that belonged to the baby of john edwards ex-mistress. They are supposedly going to get it tested to see if it is his baby. Did you hear me? THEY ARE GOING TO TEST SH!T FOR DNA!!!! What in the hell is going on in this country??
Now, I would expect to hear something like this on some gossip tv show, but on Fox 2!! I specifically avoid gossip tv and mags because I DON'T CARE about gross and disguisting things such as this. After changing the channel to another news program that didn't mention this crap, I started thinking about why my favorite news channel would report something like this. Did some news producer actually think that we wanted to know this?? If so, then that person doesn't understand that we look at news programs to hear actual news. You know, if I hear more of this kind of bullcrap on Fox 2, I may be forced to choose another news channel for my local news.
SO, TO CLARIFY, GROSS AND DISGUISTING IS NOT NEWS, SO FOX 2, PLEASE CHOOSE CAREFULLY THE STORIES THAT YOU REPORT AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY NEWS THAT YOUR VIEWERS *****NEED***** TO KNOW.

Political
I really consider myself an independent but I do have mostly conservative views, so even though I don't agree with all of McCain's political views, I was going to vote for him. Then came Palin. At first I kind of thought that he put her on the ticket to get the women's vote because Obama didn't choose Hillary, BUT I decided not to be synical and to give her a fair shake. From the time that he announced her on to the republican convention, I was excited about her joining the ticket.
WHOA -- The came the last week or so.
Saying that she could use some interviewing tips IS A HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT. My four year old godsons could have interviewed better !!!! I don't know if she was very nervous or if she really is that FLAKY but her recent interviews reminds me of that beauty contestant. I can't recall her name, but you know the one, the host asked her a question (something similar to how to bring about world peace) that is very commonly asked and she went off on some crazy tangent that I could only describe as BIZARRE. You know the girl that I am talking about, well that is who I was reminded of when I heard Palin in those interviews. It literally made me sick to my stomach !! I was so embarrased for her !!
Really, when asked what mags she read, her reply was 'all of them'? Then she went on her own tangent about how Alaska is not out of touch with DC. What the heck? She couldn't think of one mag title. She could have said, "oh, I like Time, or Newsweek, or U.S. News". She could have said "you know, leading a state takes up alot of my time so I don't read anything other than what is pertinent to my position". She could have said just about anything other than "all of them" !!
So now I can't blame it on being synical, I now realize that McCain really did put her on the ticket to lure in the women who were behind Hillary. I am far from stupid and I resent McCain treating me as such. He thought that the mere fact of putting a woman on the ticket would lure me in, regardless of her absense of experience or education? Oh, I don't think so. Nice try McCain, but you are going to have to think of something more elaborate to fool me.

What's up with bailing all of the homeowners out of their horrible mortgages? What about the renters of America? I have a problem with bailing out people who SHOULD have had the common sense to READ what they were signing EVEN THE SMALL PRINT!!! What about those of us who do have the common sense to KNOW that we are not able to purchase a home (either because of actual income or a bad credit rating) and if we attempt to do so then we would likely be charged ridiculously inflated interest.
Everyone SHOULD know that the lower their credit rating the higher interest they are going to pay for any and everything!!!! So we get shafted because we knew better and continued to rent, which by the way rental rates are getting higher. I recently signed a new lease at my apt. and my rent went up $40 bucks just over one year!!!! Yeah, house values are falling but rental rates are climbing. Is the bailout or investment or whatever they want to call it, is it going to pay my rent for the next few years, NO.
Why do homeowners, who got in over their heads, get rewarded for their lack of judgment, ignorance of homebuying practices, or failing to read over whatever was put in front of them to sign. I am sure that somewhere in those contracts it says that their interest rates will double or triple or whatever. Yeah, it may be in the tiniest of print but it was there.
I don't think my tax dollars should go to bailout homeowners when I am paying more and more rent each year while I get my financial situation in good standing so that I can buy a home and qualify for a decent interest rate. Does anyone out there feel my pain?

Ok, let's see. It was reported that about 3 dozen persons applied for the SLPS superintendent job (and I do use the word job loosely, maybe figure-head would be better). So, they want us to believe that out of 36 people the final 3 are all black men.
Statistically, this does not hold water. Let me break it down. Our population consists of about half men and half women, therefore about 18 of the applicants would have been men. Ok, well black people make up about 13% of our nation's population, so 18 x .13 = 2.34. So speaking strictly statistically, there should have been about 2 black men to apply for the job.
Well of course statistics don't always fit in the real world. Yea, I understand that more black men probably applied for the job, but I also am assuming that some black women, white women, and white men also applied for the job. I also know that not alot of white persons applied for the job (no i am not a racist but i am a REALIST). Think about it, how many top-tier educated and paid professionals would apply for a job as a figure-head of one of the country's worst educating and paying school districts? The board must think that we were all educated in st. louis public schools and were are all stupid. Something smells bad in St. Louis and it is not the brewery.
I see this as blatent reverse racism and sexism. Why does this appointed board think that the only persons that can lead this district are black men? Could they believe that black men are the best suited for figure-head duties, or if i can be so bold, the best yes massa servants. I don't know, what do you think? Again, I am only being REAL.

Weather
I know everyone is complaining about the weather, and I usually can bear it, BUT at this point I am so tired of the COLD!!!!! I am so tired of the cold that I refuse to go to the grocery store and we really need some food!!! The last time I went, Sunday January 17th, the day was OK, but that evening the winds picked up and it was awful. This happened just about the time that I was leaving the store with my groceries. The wind gusts were horrid while trying to put the food in the back of my van. My mother called me on my cell phone in the middle of it and I was so agrevated that I hung up on her. Although we are hungry, and scavenging around our house for food, I flat out refuse to return to the grocery store in this cold. Dave says the temps tomorrow will be in the 40's, so I am going to break down and go to the store.
Does anyone else feel as agrevated, irritated, and tired of the cold as I am?

Am I missing something? Why are there two school boards? I was under the impression that when the governor appointed his special 3-member board, the defunct elected school board would be dismantled. After all, if they couldn't improve the school district on their own, why does the special appointed board need their opinions? The SAB does not have to take their advice, so what is the point of them being in existance? I have never heard of a somewhat takeover. When a business (say Macy's) takes over another business (say Famous Barr), they get rid of the redundant personnel (like the recently announced job cuts). So again, why doesn't the governor tell the elected school board that their services are no longer needed and strictly rely on the SAB?
As far as the Superintendent, I think they were VERY WRONG to get rid of Dr. Creg Williams, so I wasn't surprised by the announced job vacancy. I never thought Borisaw was right for the job. I still don't understand why they fired Dr. Williams anyway? What was that about? And where is Veronica O'Brien? If I am not mistaken, she was the one behind getting rid of Dr. Williams, and now is she gone too? If so, Good.
Lastly, I would like to state that when I attended the St. Louis Public Schools 20 years ago, it was a piece of crap and it still is. Even as a child, I took notice of the inadequacies and overall problems in my school. I am so thankful for the Deseg program. If my child had to attend a St. Louis Public School: I am not rich, but I would do anything to come up with the money for private school (including stripping or prostitution). That's right I would sell my body before I let my child step one foot into a St. Louis Public School!!!!

Is it just me? Or does Roche Madden put ALOT of emphasis on the word FOX when he is wrapping up his news story. Most of the reporters put some emphasis on FOX when they say FOX 2 News, BUT Roche REALLY says it loud. Sometimes when I am looking at the news but not paying complete attention, Roche always seems to snap me out of my daze with that strongly delivered FOX 2 News. Just something I noticed.

THIS IS TO CLARIFY MY POST ABOUT MY SHAME THAT THE MURDERER IS BLACK.
I may have titled my post incorrectly, but the statements in my post were correct. Here is a bit of clarification and deeper explanation for those of you who didn't understand what I was saying. Maybe my post should have been titled "ASHAMED TO BE BLACK BECAUSE MOST OF WHAT THE TELEVISION MEDIA SHOWS OF BLACKS IS NEGATIVE" Please read this entire post before concluding that I am a traitor to my race, and if you still believe that after reading this post, I really don't care because you are obviously lacking any critical thinking skills.
I know that the different races of people who have been exposed to other races (like blacks) understands that this tradegy is not at all representative of most black people, BUT I AM SPEAKING ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE NOT EXPOSED.
Look, there are many, many communities in this city and this country where the people do not come into contact with people of different races. We all know that the St. Louis region is mostly filled with segregated neighborhoods. You cannot argue with the fact that many people, even in our own region, get their knowledge about black people from what they see on the television. All I am saying is that if this and similar negative exposure is the only insight that many people have to black people, consequently, it would be fuel to the fire for those who are already racist and can be the seedling for prejudices views for current non-racist people.
For example, I don't know any Eskimos or have had any personal contact with them. My whole perception of them stems from what I see of them on tv and the news. Let's say, for instance, eskimos start killing, robbing, and assaulting others for no reason. Then imagine the news covers each incident nightly. I would start to think Eskimos where violent criminals who I will be sure not to have any contact with.
We all know that of the stories that the news media covers regarding black people, about 75% of it is negative - stories about crime. Yes, there are some positive stories that involve black people, but you have to admit that most of them are negative. Most of the white people reading this have regular contact with good black people, so they don't impart the negative media coverage on all blacks. But you have to realize, there are alot of people who DO NOT have personal contact with black people. For those people they couldn't help but to substantiate their currently held prejudices or cause them to view blacks negatively. And for the black people reading this, none of you can tell me that when you first heard this story, you didn't say, either out loud or to yourself, I HOPE HE ISN'T BLACK!!! Admit it.
I believe this is the reason why hate groups flourish in places like Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. They have little contact with blacks and most of their views about blacks are formed from what they see on the news and tv in general.
The most outwardly racist event that had ever happened to me occurred in South Dakota near Mt. Rushmore. The people who acted prejudiced looked at us like they had never seen black people before and they hoped they never would again. I realized that their actions were based on their lack of personal interaction with black people, but rather on the prejudices that they develop from all of the negativity that the media exposes them to.
Hope you all understand, Stay Blessed

First I want to send my deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this inexcusable tragedy. I am acquainted with the Yost family and I am truly saddened by these shootings. The Yosts' have been true and committed servants of God. All of the victims and their families are in my prayers.
Is it me??? Am I missing something?? What the HELL is wrong with that murderer's family?? When Eliot spoke to his mother and gave her every opportunity to apologize for her son's actions, all she did was justify them. TODAY I AM SO ASHAMED TO BE A BLACK PERSON. Don't get me wrong, unlike that murderous coward, I do not want to turn this into a race thing, but all of you will have to admit this: there are some people (white, asian, hispanic, arab, etc.) that do not have personal interactions with decent Black people. Their only knowledge of Black people comes from news coverage and television in general. This tradegy and the reactions of his family does two things:
First, it gives prejudiced people more ammunition in their beliefs that Blacks are mostly violent criminals who solve their problems with violence because they are too ignorant to find peaceful solutions.
Second, it starts non-prejudiced people to wonder about the decency and morality of Blacks. This tragedy and the justification by his family can become the seed that leads to viewing black people as amoral animals, and not caring human beings.
I see why this murderer was so crazy, his mother and brother are also crazy. He was raised by an ignorant person. I am just truly ashamed of his actions and the justification that his family is spewing. He should have shot his mother for not raising him to seek peaceful solutions to his problems!!

Hello All,
I am back from a vacation to the Ozarks. We stayed at Tan-Tar-A Resort and I can say that 95% of our trip was wonderful!! But the other 5% was anything but, and it really got me thinking about the whole immigration issue. So here are my thoughts and EXPERIENCES...
First, I am not a racist against Hispanic people, however I am a realist. I understand the simple fact that the United States CANNOT physically house the millions of illegal immigrants that are here. We have limits on immigration for a reason, so that our resources (housing, food, energy, etc.) will not be used up. There is not enough space to house everybody!!! Numerous housing markets across the country have as little as 1% available housing. In these cities (because of supply and demand) the amount of rent has increased exponentially.
For example, when a person goes to view an apartment in Minneapolis, as many as 20 other people are looking at the same apt. The landlords can charge whatever they want. A few years ago some landlords were prosecuted because they kept accepting application fees but never rented the apartments. A few applicants can easily provide enough money for the owner to pay the mortgage without ever renting the unit.
So, again I am not racist, but I realize that we cannot physically house EVERYBODY in the world in this one country. We do not have enough land. So what's next building 100 story hi-rises? I grew up in a housing project, so believe me it is not a good thing to stack people on top of each other, especially poor or lower-middle class people.
So, back to the other 5%. While at the resort one of the kids (a 12-year-old) couldn't open the door to our room. We had taken a trip to the local Wal-Mart and left the kids to enjoy the resort. Well, this kid came back to our room to use the restroom. She couldn't get it (she was pulling the room key out too fast). Anyway, she saw one of the resort employees, a hispanic man, and asked if he could help her get into our room. He obviously thought that she could not speak spanish when he said "Shut up, don't talk to me". She is taking spanish in school and completely understood what he had said. She didn't let him know that she understood and he just walked away.
This kid's mother is my best friend and in the past she was enamored with the hispanic culture and hispanic people (that is until she got pregnant by one of them and found out that he had a wife in Mexico and now he denies their children). Anyway, I said all of that to say that I have had many interactions with Hispanics because of her. She is my best friend and I didn't care that she dealt with them, I mostly just tagged along. We (my best friend and I) have been present when they have talked about Americans and especially Black people. Usually they didn't think that we understood what they were saying, but my friend started learning their language, how to cook Mexican food, etc. We never let them know that we understood and we didn't always understand every word, but we got the gist of what was being said.
Why do some hispanics think that we should cater to them. We are not in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, or Cuba. This is America. When you go to a country, you have to adapt to that place, not expect them to adapt to you. If I went to France, I could not expect them to stop speaking french and switch to english. I feel that our country is losing its identity. During the turn of the century when immigrants came from Russia, Ireland, etc. they understood that in order to survive they needed to ASSIMILATE into America. Yes, many groups: irish, italian, french retained aspects and rituals of their culture, but they ultimately became americans and taught their children that success will come with learning english.
So why now with this infusion of immigrants (not to mention that millions are illegal) do they feel that we are obligated to adapt to them. American culture is a fusion of many different cultures mixed together, but ultimately American pride prevails.
I was so upset at what that Hispanic man said to this child. She was upset and needed help and he totally ignorant to her. I did complain to the resort about the situation. I think the reason that some hispanics are ignorant, especially to black people, is because they really believe that Blacks are lazy and that they are doing the jobs that Black people won't do. They also think that we don't know their language. That is racist, isn't it?
I was happy when my friend stopped hanging around with those hispanic people because they were not really her friends. They would always say things about Black people but then they would try to assure her that they weren't taking about her but those 'other' black people. I didn't have to say much, she finally woke up. And yes, she now has twin boys that are half hispanic. Between the two of us we love them so much and their father is the one who is suffering because he doesn't know the love that these boys can give.

Last night on Fox News Edge Charles Jaco was discussing how Blacks would possibly pull their support for Mayor Slay. I became very upset. These so called black civic leaders DON'T speak for all black people in St. Louis. Don't lump us all together Mr. Jaco. Those leaders certainly don't speak for me and alot of other black people that I know. Personally, I have 3 leaders: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. That's it. These leaders have specific followers but not all black people are their followers.
Similarily, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson don't speak for all black people either. Mr. Jaco would have been correct in saying "the particular followers of these black civic leaders are considering pulling their support from Mayor Slay". I think Slay has done a good job, better than the past few mayors. To illustrate, the areas adjacent to HWY 44, west of Grand were all abandoned and condemned buildings and lots. There are now HOMES there with actual FAMILIES living in them. No, Slay is not perfect, but he has been better than our last few mayors.

WE ARE IN THE YEAR 2007, AREN'T WE?? WITH ALL OF THE 'NOOSE' STORIES AND 'N-WORD' STORIES DAILY ON THE NEWS, I AM HAVING DOUBTS OF EXACTLY WHAT YEAR WE LIVE IN!!!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY?!?!
In my creative mind, I can just imagine martians or other aliens invading our planet and taking over because we refuse to come together as THE HUMAN RACE!! All that the little green men would have to do is start a rumor that (for example) Hillary Clinton called Barak Obama the "N" word. Oh my goodness, it would then be over for us all. The invaders would only have to sit back for a few days while we all turned on each other.
Correct me if I am mistaken, but doesn't the quote say "DIVIDED WE FALL"? I am truly amazed at how divided this country (actually the entire world) remains in this supposedly advanced and educated 21st Century.
This may sound like a cliche', but honestly...
CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

I was just watching the most recent interview and story about the 1-year-old baby's murder and arrest of the suspect. When the report started the mother was described as a 19-year-old. WHAT THE HELL!!!! She is only 19 as has 3 children!!! Let me count, she has one child who is older than the murdered baby, about 2 or 3 years old, the 1-year-old that was murdered, and a newborn baby. Yeah, that is 3. Please don't misunderstand me, my heart aches for her loss because I am also a mother. But 19 with 3 kids, and where are the fathers, especially the father of the murdered baby.
When the story first broke Fox 2 interviewed the mother accompanied by a male relative (a uncle or brother, I'm not sure), but I have yet to see an interview of the father, for that matter not even a mention of him and his feelings regarding the death of his child. Also, where was the older (2 or 3 year old) sibling during the mother's maternity stay? The 1-year-old was with his godmother, but what about her other child. I think that both children should have been together in the care of a responsible adult, for instance, a grandmother.
I am not trying to be judgmental because I was also a single teen parent. But I also wised up and realized that it would take alot to financially provide for my one child, so relationships and sex, especially unprotected sex, took a backseat to finding a job, obtaining good childcare, and planning to continue my education. Even having lived the life of a single teen mom, I can't begin to imagine how a person continues to have children knowing that they can't financially support them.
Again, I feel so sad that her baby suffered so badly and was murdered. My heart and blessings go out to her.
But her situation shines a spotlight on the epidemic of children born out of wedlock. Recently I read a statistic that completely shocked me. Did you know that 70%, that is 7 out of 10, black babies are born to single women, and a great number to single teenagers. Honestly, that is astounding!!! 7 in 10!!! Also, the percentages for White, Hispanic, Asian, etc. are also continuously rising. I believe this is a national crisis and national as well as private industry healthcare agencies need to declare it an epidemic and hold conferences to find solutions.
So, what do you think?
