Ok, I live in south county off of Lindberg by Lions Choice and Fantasy Coachwork. The owner of that Lions Choice wants to build a bigger and better restaraunt across the street from my house. There is a vacant lot there which is kept nice and the neighborhood kids play football there. Anyway, the proposition is to tear down Coachworks, then tear down the old Lions Choice to build a bar & grill and a Golden Coral. According to Green Park, they want to "clean up the area". How is building a bunch of restaraunts going to clean up the area. And what is wrong with the area now? Since I have lived here, I havent had any problems. I think it is just another way for rich, selfish people to get richer. Now I dont own my house I rent and I take care of my property and enjoy living here. Its a quiet community and I know alot of people want it to stay that way. Its not going to once they build all these unneccessary money hungry businesses. It took me awhile to find a decent price house in a good area and now they want to do this. Its ridiculous. And I dont have a say because I am a renter. I have kids that are worried about having to leave their school and home because of this. I just dont think it is far.We dont need anymore restaraunts or a bar around here. It frusterates me because if you have the money to do things like this, who cares who you are going to hurt. Of all the vacant areas around here the owner of Lions Choice had to pick the one across the street from my house. If I could afford to buy a house I would. But being a single mom working 40 hours a week I cant do it right now. All I know is that Green Park is a nice neighborhood, but as soon as all these projects are in place, things will not be the same. And it frusterates me because these big shots arent worried about us little people possibly being homeless, they just want to make a buck and that just disgusts me. And at the meeting they act like its a good thing, its not going to be a good thing to the community, I just know it. I just dont know what to doo!!

I found this on the web... I applaud this mom. what do you think??
The meanest mom
Jane Hambleton of Fort Dodge, Iowa, calls herself the “meanest mom on the planet.”
After she found alcohol in the car of her 19-year-old son, she decided to punish him by selling it. She placed the following ad in the Des Moines Register: “OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don’t love their teenage son, selling his car. Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,700/offer. Call meanest mom on the planet.”
Hambleton set two rules for her son when she bought the car at Thanksgiving – no alcohol and always keep the car locked.
Since the ad has been in the paper, Hambleton has received more than 70 telephone calls from people, most of them congratulating her for her actions. The only person who is unhappy is her son. He says the alcohol was left by a passenger.
Hambleton’s son may think she is the meanest mom on the planet. We think she’s something else – a responsible parent.

Ok this has been happening too much now. And why is it? Kids are supposed to go to school to learn and be safe, not worry about some depressed kid who wants to shoot everyone. I have a 15 year old, and I worry everyday about him. This isn't what we are supposed to be worried about. WE are to worry about skipping school, failing a class, or even peer pressure. Not who is going to come and shoot up the school today!! I hear the no bullying tolerence but are the teachers always around? NO! Not in the locker rooms, not on the bus and not on the walk to and from school. Its time that the parents step up and take responsibility for their kids. I know I do. If my son gets introuble at school, he gets introuble at home. Respect, discipline and compassion is whats missing today. Everyone is so trying to "get back" or "revenge" others that, that is all is taught in todays society. The last thing that kids should be worried about is bullying and shooting. I think more needs to be done. But that is my opinion, whats your?

I heard on the news the other night of a young lady being stabbed in a convience store and literally dieing while people walked over her. At least 5 people walked over this young mother, one even stopping to take a picture of her bleeding. OK What is wrong with people?? No one bothered to call 911 or help this poor woman. She eventually died but if 911 was called even 2 minutes sooner she could of lived. She was stabbed by some 19 year old in the stomach and bled to death. This kind of crime happens all over and no one steps in and stops it. Why? Are we that selfish and inconciderate of others? I remember growing up that you should respect and help others. Now its seems no one wants to help anyone else. I dont know it just makes me sick knowing that people dont care about others. What do you think???

I hear all the time about teenagers getting into trouble. To fighting, shooting, messing with fireworks and burnt a school oh and don't forget the toppled headstones at the cemetary. Whats wrong with these kids? Is there no discipline left? What about jobs or a teen recreation center for them? Something needs to be done in this city to keep our youths off the streets and out of trouble. I know when I was a kid my parents knew where I was and if I got introuble, boy did I get it when I got home. Kids dont have that anymore, they run their parents now. Its crazy. I just think something needs to be done to keep these kids busy. I am sick of hearing about some teen got shot or vandalized property.
