I have been reading about how the USA is going down.

I disagree. Yeah, there is a lot of crud going on. Bad news every day.

But, what is good about  the USA? We can blog about the bad, freely. We can express our opinions freely, and not go to jail or have our heads chopped off. So what is there to really gripe about.

Have you been stifled today? Can you not say our prez is an idiot? Can you not say our two main candidates are idiots?

So, if not, what is so bad? We live in the most open society on the face of the Earth.

If it is so bad, why don't you get the hell out?

This is the best place on Gods green Earth to live. If it seems so wrong to you, go live in Russia or China. In two seconds you would beg to come back to the good old US of A.

Any takers? I got 20 dollars on it!

Good one Uncle Tom!

The United States of America is the best place to reside and raise a family. Yes, there are many idiots and we've witnessed some on blogs, but we have the freedom to ignore.

Some of us can go walking late at night and be safe and paying $3.99/gallon isn't bad ... because we are allowed to luxury to own a vehicle.

The biggest negative now and most of us are enduring it is the crappy economy. Maybe we were spoiled for the past 5, 10, even 25 years? I know that in some industries the corrections are now being made for fast, easy, large sales in the early 2000's.

You've got a great point Tom and if some really think it's terrible then yes, get out! I can't wait to see what "those" know-it-alls have to say.

I just have a hard time thinking we are on the road to ruin. As long as we have our basic freedoms, which I do not see them being taken away like some do, we will be okay. Now, if they do start taking them away I will be the first to call for a revolution.
Yeah, there are some laws I think are stupid. I do think the government has poked their noses into some things that they should not.
But, all in all I love living here. I have been in some supposed free countries that seem like a Gulag. We are FREE all. We have so many choices that when someone immigrates they have freedom shock. Just the choices in the stores blows them away. And not being hassled by the secret police or the religion police.
And 4thstooge. You are so right. The measure of a country is by the number of people that want in and not out!

I was born in 1950. My father had come home from European Vacation with Patton. The trials he went through there weren't as tough as the stories he told of coming of age in the Great Depression, he turned 17 in 1939, and was working in CC Camps to help support his mom dad and 8 brothers and sisters at home, his older brother did the same.
I was spoiled all my life but at least I realize it, and we lived week to week, just like 85% of America. We had a house because of the G I Bill, just like a million other kids. But we had a chance to stay in school and get an education. A better chance than my father had, and my daughter had a better chance than I did. I only hope my grandchildren have a better chance even yet.
They won't let our country be ruined.
Even with some of the sorry folks I've seen for parents out there, the kids you don't notice are the ones that will be in charge, because they aren't laying around waiting for a handout.

The overall influx of individuals coming here to live are contiguous to the US therefore making it much easier to "escape" Mexico.

Even though life here is much better than most places, the US offers too many benefits to non-citizens thus creating the motivation to come over the fence - so to speak.

When an illegal can get funding, special privileges, and free living quarters - who wouldn't come here.

Even though I feel the United States is the best place to live and raise a family, we have a lot of correcting to do. We need to make all illegals go back immediately, take care of our own first, then seal the boarders and see how prosperous we become.

AMEN AnswerMan! I am all for an influx of new people. If they come here legally! Although I understand someone wanting to live here by any means. Who wouldn't?
And yes Dan. It is up to the previous generation to make it better for all who follow. That is the solemn duty of any parent and citizen. I to have a father that did it that way, though he was Army Air Corps. A Tuskegee airman. And yup, I was also spoiled, and made sure my kids were also. And now that I am going to be a grandpa, watch out!

Tom you hit the nail on the head . I think most that complain about the USA , have never been to a 3rd world country . Or have never seen the pain of living under a dictatorship .

America has always been the best , will always be the best . Sure we've had our share of bad times . Slavery was not our finest moment . But a lot of fine men lost their lives to help correct that evil .

I,m with you , don't like it here . No one is making you stay . But you will beg too come back .

There have been a few not so shining moments in our history. As with every other country out there. But you know Cutter, we have a way of coming out of them better than we were. We Americans have a way of learning from our mistakes.
Yes, slavery was a black mark in our history, pun intended. The treatment of the Native Americans is another one. We are doing better at both. We eliminated slavery, a big thanks for that to those that did it. We have a ways to go with the Indians, but I see it getting better all the time. Some will say cause it can't get much worse, thats a fallacy. Talk to your parents or someone who lived through the great depression. We have it made in the shade man, a bit of heaven on earth.
And a reminder to all. VOTE in November for your choice.

Hey Fellas!

I agree there is no better Country to Live in and no better country for hope of a Better Life.

For most Citizens the Rights that have been taken away have been gradual and so therfore the Full impact not appreciated. Taken alone each lost Right or Freedom seems small, when added together the Picture comes into Focus.

Right now for me and my family the Threat of most of our Private Businesses and Jobs Will be taken away. We are on the Front Line. The Smokers lost, now the Obese are next. The Environment and the restricitons on how much CO2 we all produce is coming. The Politicans are using what ever excuse they can to Strip Freedoms of the Individual. They just choose the Hot issues so people don't complain when one more right is taken away since they are told it will "fix" the "problem". Now Oil Speculators are in their sites...When Congress should be looking at itself for the Problems it caused...

Eventually the Politicians will get to something that effects everyeone.... But by then well have Socialized Medicine, Socialized Gasoline Compaines and basicaly exist to Pay Taxes...we are almost there now...

Other Countries are worse...but then they Haven't experienced the Freedoms like we have, so they Cheer when we become more like them..Socialsits...

Goto the Congressinoal Budget Office Blog and Read it all...Goto the Congress website and Read the Bills that are Proposed and in Committee..... Then it will dawn on you...only then.

Good Blog Mechany!

Well patch, we still have the ability to vote the stuffed shirts that sell their vote in congress to the highest bidder out on their collective posteriors.
To bad most voters are sheep that fall for the flash bang advertising done in the guise of a legitimate campaign.
This is my idea of a revolution, vote out the old guard and get some honest everyday folk to be our leaders. That has been the way I have voted for many years now. Small government should be our goal, states rights is the only way to go. The federal government should only be a collective bargaining agent and provide for the militia. Yup, I am a libertarian. That still thinks the USA is a little slice of heaven. I can rail against the government at any time and still breathe free air and go fishing with out a SS agent following me around. And me, one man in 300,000,000 has as much a say in what happens as anyone else. My voice may not be as powerful as most, but I still have it. Guaranteed by the most frosty document in history, apologies to Dino, the United States Constitution. And I warn our so called leaders. Do not mess with said document, you will have one very ticked off oversized CMSGT. And as the hulk says, you will not like me when I am angry!

Dang man! That was hard editing myself. But if I had not my post would have been full of BOOGEDY'S! I am normally a foul mouthed person. Old habits die hard I guess.
When I was a command NCO my commander complimented me on my creative use of curse words. I replied it was the only way to get rainbows to respond to me. His reply, while he was looking up at me, was Hell sarge, just looking at you staring down at me makes me need clean skivvies. That Major and me had a good understanding after that.
I know a few congressmaen that need to learn that. Do not tick off the normal everyday citizen to often. We are tolerant, but only to a point!

You and I agree Mechany, I guess I am just one step closer than you. Until this whole ADA thing and the Health IT I was thinking exactly the Same thing. I do not encourage Revolution...but I have come to realize that the 2 Parties rule all.

The Bills they put forward, the laws they pass, we don't hear or know 1/10th of what is going on up there. The Bills read like giberish so the Common man can only scratch his head. Their is a Ruling Class, and we aren't it. Voting is only Honest if those running the system are Honest...and I think we can say those running the system are not.

I am going to break a Rule here..I am going to label myself for what I used to be many years ago.

Mechany you used to be a Democrat, (sik is gonna have a field day)I used to be a Hard Conservative Republican.

Now we are both smack dab in the Middle Fighting for the Constitution and the Rights it Guarantees us. Because you and I have stopped playing the "Game". Many have not.

The Right/the Left means nothing...the little petty disagreements means nothing....without the Freedoms and the Liberty of the Constitution it all means nothing.

I would have to say with all Honesty that out of All the people on this Web I do Value your opinion the Most.

I have found with your Blogs and Comments that you are an Honest Man.

I don't Compliment very Often... Or hang myself out like that... and I do not Kiss butt.

So I hope you are Right...and I am just blowing Hot air... For all our sakes.

Now thats scary. I am just an old war horse. I just happen to hold dear the premise that the old farts that wrote the constitution set up for us. I can not be any other way.
I am a very simple man Patch. I know no other way to be. I see us as the best hope for the world. By us I mean Americans. The mutts of the world.
You know how you can tell we are mutts. Our noses are wet and cold.

And no, you probably are not just blowing hot air. As far as the stuffed shirts go. Some of them believe they are the choosen ones. That they can do and say anything and we will believe everything they say. Not all of us are sheep. Some of us see right through them.
My faith is with the common citizen. We are what makes the USA great, inspite of the ineptitude of our leaders. They have to start remembering that we hired them, and we can fire them.

It's still a great country..... Our leadership has gone down hill but the people are still good hard working folks that want to make it work.......

Someday we will weed out the bad leadership and go back to a smooth ship......

Our country holds the same promise that it always has. My biggest concern is how we, the people, take that promise for granted. I worry that we don't have the same strength and resolve in our hearts as the WWII generation. Could we roll up our sleeves and make the same sacrifices? Or have we grown too soft by all the government "gimme" programs?

Sounds like a good reason to me Mutatis. Except my wife would do what Jesse wants to do to Barack to me!
Yeah PSylvester, we have grown used to it I'm afraid. The easy life has a way of doing that to ya. But I bet if there was a crisis like WWII again we would step up to the plate. (I hope!)
You know it Tommy! They will be fired someday, soon I hope!
