This came to mind since "super Tuesday" is just a little over a day away.  Whats the deal with the volunteer's handing out fliers as we approach the polling door?  I don't know about you, but if I don't know who I'm voting for by the time I reach the door, then I have no business being there.  I will admit that in the past I have taken some of the fliers to be kind, but no longer do, because all I do is pitch them.  Is it just me, or are the volunteer's rude if you ignore them or pick and choose your fliers.

What do you do??  How do you handle this??

I know people who are more than level headed but haven't chosen yet.

Actually it's the mental game and it works. The volunteers cost you nothing, the fliers are donated, and if the campaigners are more than 100 feet away from polling place - it's all legal.

There will be people showing up for other voting reasons like a local school board referendum that will cost them LOTS MORE than any candidate including Dubya's damage. A tax referendum can cause us $1200 a year extra for life versus a bad president - well - we survive with for 8 years.

I know who I am voting for also. But, I take the fliers. Make excellent scratch paper for my shop.

Yes....and also respect these people no matter what issue they are "handing out". They are getting paid nothing and some will be there all day. I used to be a poll watcher which wasn't a fun job and got a lot of looks.

Actually, most voters are so 'in the weeds' they need a memory jog of who they thought would be best in local gov't positions. Remember vote against all judges.

Take the handout, quick look to see if interested, then trash it .....

I usually try to know who I`m voting for before I get that far. If I encounter one of these people handing out literature I plan to stand alongside them and to speak to people against whatever it is that they are trying to promote.

I agree--HATE being accosted when approaching the polls. I used to sneak in a back door, but since 9-11 my polling place (also a school) doesn't have the back doors open. I usually say "no thank you" and they back off.

I vote at a church. I enter through the handicap door. I love it cuz there isn't anyone outside those doors. And before anyone starts, yes I am handicap. You don't have to be disabled to enter those doors.

I went today at 7a.m. and there was no one! I normally take the handout and pitch it WHILE THEY ARE LOOKING!

I just say no thank you and move on. There is no need to be rude.

I usually tell the volunteers to "save a tree" and walk past them. What is even worse is the amount of signage we are subjected to around election time. Do you really think anyone has ever picked a candidate because they had the most signs? Some intersections are littered with many signs for the same person. And if I was really interested in voting for someone, I would make selection based on the person not because I saw a sign with their name on it. I don't think I would need to be reminded over and over and over again.

I got nothing while going to the polls - no handouts, no payouts, just lots of rain!

I walk right on by! Had one this AM and I was like please. A few years ago there was a group out front of one of the polling places acting like they had ballots and some people fell for it.

It was raining so hard this morning they would have needed ducks to hand out their material. If anyone was really trying to convert someone, they should have had umbrellas with their candidate`s name on them.

I don't take handouts and I don't do exit polls. I got an Obama call yesterday asking if I voted and who I voted for. I politely told him I don't tell anyone who I vote for.

It's my business who I vote for, and even if you're enthusiastic about a candidate, I don't have to listen to it, nor do I have to tell you my opinion.

I'm not rude at all. If pressed, they'd get a no thank you or a silence.
