This morning I saw on the news that Laclede Gas now wants to raise natural gas rates on the average of $6.50 a month per household. That may seem like chump change for some, but with all the rate hikes going on it seems like everyone wants to get thier slice of the pie.

They say that thier customers are thier first priority. HA! Thier pockets are more like it.  I know that thier is alot of people who are complaining right now. Some people say cut back. Well I wonder how many people are really willing to do something about it?  Whatever happened to people using a wood stove to heat thier homes? I'm strongly considering it. Also, we could cut back on our electricity by using oil lamps for light? Besides the people who medically need electricity, Electricity is not something we need, it is something that we want. How many people are willing to take that challenge?

Gas Prices......

Another big concern. I know that thier are some people who just simply cannot do anything about the amount they use. It is truly scary that all these price hikes are being allowed. I remember on Sept 11 everyone was in line for the gas pumps worried that the prices would hike. Our president came over the television and said that anyone who raised thier rates would be fined for price gouging.  The was a horrible time in our history. Seems a little odd that back in a time of panic, gouging was not allowed, but today it is.  Big corporations want to pad thier pockets more, and nothing is going to change that. They care nothing for the average american. It's kind of funny, with our president and vice president being oil men, who also are making money off of americans, kind of makes you wonder if they care about the average americans either? Cause we all know that any of these hikes do not effect you if you are rich.

All in All, I plan on cutting back on everything I can. I have some time before winter to invest into a wood stove. I already have oil lamps I can use for light. I know that these are comforts of our home. But we must take a stand! We must sacrifice comfort untill things change. Talking about it will simply not be enough.  You must simply hit them back in thier pockets by NOT using thier services, or as little as possible. Let me remeind you that thier are people who do this everyday, and they survive fine. Maybe we are in a time where they are smarter than us. Who will take this challenge with me?
