I don't know how to feel about the present democratic candidate race and the presidential race on the whole.  I am neither republican nor democrat, but i usually side with the GOP.  Now, I'm no fan of bush.  In fact I did not vote for him in '00 but i did in '04 (I voted Nader in '00) because I felt he should have another term in office to FINISH WHAT HE STARTED.  now some will contend that THEY (the muslim extremists from afghanistan and saudi arabia) STARTED IT.  However, our comander in chief and all his little idiot friends decided it would be a great idea to go to iraq to find/destroy imaginary WMDs and remove Saddam, a person who, unsavory as he was, DID HAVE THOSE "PEOPLE" IN CHECK.  I put quotes around people because, yes, they do qualify as human on a purely biological and chemical level, however my opinion of these muslim extremists, shiite militias, etc. etc. carries with it somewhat more degrading terms.  We should have been in afghanistan, killing al qaeda & taliban soldiers and finding osama bin laden.  But that is neither here nor there at this point.

I feel compelled to vote for John McC or Barack beacuse I believe them.  I hear what they say and honestly believe they are well-intentioned.  True, McC is no economist (one of our biggest issues right now), but he is among the bravest of the brave and the strongest of the strong.  He is not a third-bush-term-er.  He is his own man and his qualities eclipse those of bush (who has no scruples, it seems).  I cannot completely agree with his "100-year-war," but I do understand that if we just up and leave iraq, things will end up being worse than Saddam (which wasnt all that bad for americans to begin with).  We are in this thing now.  you cant change that.

I cant bring myself to vote for Barack though.  I do laud him for saying what others wont: that he intends to "change the way the game is played," that he intends to roll-back corporate tax cuts and redistribute to the middle class, etc etc.  But I simply cannot believe the man or the party can do what he/they say(s).  The last president who wanted to turn the government machine on its ear WAS ASSASSINATED.  This is a group who has had firm control of the house and senate for at least a year and has done little-to-nothing.  They are too disorganized for me and too much of their time is spent in-fighting and not enough time is given to progress (congress??? lol)  Also, I have nothing in common with the man.  I am a white male, ex-catholic (now a scientist), and anti-union, and proud of all (although not flamboyantly so).  Sure the moderators are asking somewhat tougher questions, but he just dances around the issues offering nothing of any substance, rather he dazzles the crowd with his talents in rhetoric, a convincing smoke-screen.

Which is more than I can say about Hillary, who, in my opinion, is physically, mentally, or emotionally UNABLE to speak the truth.  in other words, and in my opinion, she is a filthy liar.  Shes running on a platform of experience?  are you serious?  so she knows whose pockets are deep, big deal!  she was the first lady, big deal!  Wasnt there some scandal years back involving the clintons and murder for political gain?  does anyone else remember that?  She's not for you or me.  she's a dem in name only.  the clintons made somewhere on the order of $109,000,000 last year (is that number right?) and she passes herself off as one of us?  one of the people?  the working class?  COME ON!  Wake up people!  she doesnt work for you.  she'll make sure YOU work for HER.  Spend a couple hours looking at her compaigning strategy... its painfully obvious that she will do anything, including selling OUR SOULS, to get nominated and then elected.

I want a candidate who will get the Iraqi government OFF THEIR REARS (no more summer vacations, Habib!) and GET TO WORK.  This wouldnt have been an occupation if they would just get their %$&@ together.  the sooner that happens, the better off we all are.

Regardless of everything else, this iraq war is a never ending conflict against an insidious, cowardly, SORDID enemy.  If we leave iraq, this conflict will follow us home, as it did at its onset.  The economy issue (an important issue) is one of ebb and flow.  Our economy will bounce back eventually, i have no doubt.  But we live in an age where all a terrorist group has to do is acquire ONE nuclear weapon and the means to detonate it and it destroys us all.  As a result, we will lose our most basic freedoms (check the patriot act) and will be living in fear and doubt for the rest of humanity's time here on this planet.

Soldiers and their families: you are doing this country a great service, even though the populus detests the conflict.  I know youve lost family members: friends, fathers, brothers, sisters, and mothers.  If Americans backed down in the face of sadness, loss, adversity, and terror, Wären wir jetzt sprechen Deutsch (WE'D BE SPEAKING GERMAN NOW).  Keep up the great work!  You are doing more for this country than the people who are supposed to lead it.  take pride in that.  you are the bravest of the brave.

Paraphrase:   "I don't want you to die for your country.  I want you to make the enemy DIE FOR HIS."  -Patton

So sorry, US Government. I will be saving my $600 that I am due to receive this summer. I do not feel the need to spend it. I could spend it, but then I would be doing what YOU want me to do, not what I want me to do. I'm quite sure it will eventually be spent after about 30 years, but not this summer. I do not want you to feel I am ungrateful, because I am. I'm glad my government is finally giving something back to me. Recently, you've only taken from me and presented nothing in return. so THANK YOU for the extra money.

So the St. Louis Blues ran the slogan this year of "Whatever It Takes."  What was their final record?  33-36-13 or more accurately, 33 wins and 49 losses including OT & SOs(http://blues.nhl.com/team/app?page=TeamStandings&s
ervice=page&type=CON
).

Maybe they should change their slogan for the '09 season from "Whatever It Takes" to just "Whatever..." because thats what it looks like out there: a bunch of guys skating around sporting award-winning hangovers.  How, with a roster containing players like paul kariya, keith tkachuk, brad boyes, lee stempniak, and manny legace, does our beloved team end up in 14th place in the western conference?  Hey, at least its better than last year, when the Blues finished dead last.

Im glad I got my tickets for free for that one game i attended, because i surely would not pay my hard-earned money to see the Blues get out-played game after game.  Id sooner pay for tickets to the circus, as they are paid to actually clown around, whereas the Blues clown around when they are paid ridiculous sums to win hockey games.

Andy [Murray], perhaps in '09, you can coach your forwards to increase their presence in the slot?  Game after game no one crashed the net after dumping.  The team's problem isnt goals against, its the lack of goals FOR.  There were many games we could have won, had there been a player in the slot a small perentage of the time.

I will credit you, though, on your extraordinary abilities killing power plays.  i guess after half your team spends half the game in the "sin bin" for an entire season ('07), you get pretty good at playing short-handed all the time.

I used to be a huge Blues hockey fan back in the day, especially during the arena/checkerdome years, but recently, their play has become laughable, at best.  I'll never become a fan of any other hockey team, hence ill take no hockey rather than bad hockey.

Here's to a better '09 season....and I MISS AL MACINNIS!

RANT:

im just not going to turn right on red, period. if youre behind me and it bothers you, sorry in advance, but you can wait. I don't trust computering machines from the future and the interblog. I trust them even less than (*dare i say it*) cops.

If safety is the primary objective for these red light camers, as the government would have us believe, there should be a cop at the corner observing and citing infractions as his/her JOB DESCRIPTION entails. seriously, think about how much money you paid in taxes last year. Ill bet it was more than the year before, am i right? the government can afford more cops. its a low demand, low pay, thankless job that pretty much any power-hungry knucklehead can get given theyve taken a 30 hour internet course and can run a 10 minute mile. Problem is, they then become "authorities" and become lazy with the authority. They are above the law, are they not? tell me they're not, so i can have a good laugh today. tell me, cops of the country: what are your employee reviews like? short of murder, what would you, as a cop, have to do to get fired/reprimanded?

I see cops sleeping, reading, smoking, talking to other cops, eating in their squad cars, all while burning $3.39/gallon GAS! why not keep a watchful eye out for driving infractions while theyre making the easiest paycheck in the world? seriously, its happening DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU! Have you gotten so lazy with your "authority" that you won't get out of the "cruiser" (i love that term, it sounds so gay) to issue a ticket for no turn signal? an infraction that causes dozens of collisions PER DAY? Cops, for that matter, break this law all the time!

We are now living in an age when a MACHINE does a better job at upholding the law than a flesh and blood copper, judge, and jury, AND FOR LESS MONEY, TOO. way to go johnny law, by doing mostly nothing, youve made your job so simple, an unmanned camera lens with flash can do it for you. enjoy your donuts.

god help us.

ps. maybe we can get trained monkeys to direct pedestrian traffic at the BLUES GAMES!!! that would be NEATO!

Now I'm all in support of turning left onto a one-way street at a red light, but the attorney in charge of presenting this bill thinks that it will apply to him during his downtown commute.  Here's a news flash: its actually illegal to make a RIGHT turn on red within the downtown St. Louis limits... look it up (unless its changed recently).  It seems he doesn't know that.  Funny considering 1) he's a lawyer and 2) he is pretty passionate about this issue.  You'd think he'd have done his research.

So, if its illegal to turn right on red, what makes him think he can now take a left on red?  Seems to me that they should take care of the right-red issue before they start to tackle the left-red issue.

Who saw the 20/20 special on the royal family last night on ABC?  I'm not a fan of the royal family, not to say I dislike them, just to say I've never really cared.  However, I see them in a brand new light.

The part that really got me was the part where the queen mum comes to Wasington DC and has dinner with the president and first lady.  What a contrast seeing someone with such taste and tact interacting with her antithesis.  Watching King George made me feel the same brand of discomfort only experienced while watching Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm."  With such a royal backdrop, he was the jester.

I also loved the 5 second clip of their two respective residences in sequence: first the white house then immediately to buckingham palace.  How humbling it was to see the comparatively modest white shanty next to the expansive and impressive buckingham palace.  wow.

....And to fund all that!  0.63 pounds annually per brit!  I know they didn't say anthing about how much they pay in regular taxes, but thats CHEAP to uphold such extravagant royalty.  It makes me wonder how many dollars I pay so that the president can have a mountain spring bidet and a nightly porterhouse dinner (not to mention his 400+ vacation days).   Wow, 0.63 pounds annually supports her staff, her personal train, her helicopter, her airline charters, her 5 castles, her childrens' affairs, etc. etc...  I'm amazed.

Oh, and Ann Liebowitz (sp?).  Huevos GRANDES!  Who was this lady to tell the queen to remove her crown after dressing her up in all that?  If I were the queen (and by the end of the program, sincerely wish I was) I would have had her hanged from London Bridge.  Talk about giving off a bad first impression.  Sure, you may be an accomplished photographer, but she's the queen, and you're in HER house.  Huevos muchos grandes.

Barbara Walters, this was the first time I've enjoyed your program in several years.  Well Done.

If I was an apostrophe, i would be worn out.  I know that school grade's are on the decline and U'S student's cant seem to keep up with other developed countrie's in the field's of math and science, but can we not teach our children/student's the correct way to write in our own language?

At least once a day, I see a blatant misuse of this poor punctuation mark.  Lately it seem's to be inserted into word's as a result of guesswork.  Do english teacher's just not teach "i before e except after c,"  "...drop the -y and add -ies,"  contraction's, and possessive's anymore?  Perhap's its just that kid's (and adult's, for that matter) have aspiration's of working at the drive-up window where people can more appreciate their verbal skill's?

I know that people dont realize that they are doing it, hence the same people doing it all the time.  Seriously though, maybe it is time to investigate.

If youve seen some common mispunctuated form's lately, id love to read them.

thank ' s !

1. If you change lanes directly in front of me with no signal, I will immediately do the same to you, given enough space and time. We'll see how you like it.
2. if you change lanes directly behind me with no signal, I will make an abrupt turn with no signal.
3. If you do the driving equivalent of cutting-in-line, I will cut right back in front of you (see #1-2) and/or spit on your window.
4. If you are talking on the phone in the car, at a stoplight I'll blow the horn until you disconnect, as the road requires your attention.
5. If I am in the *passing* lane and you are behind me, I will move so you can pass, please return the favor.
6. Please physically turn (and use) your head when reversing.
7. If you're talking on the phone AND smoking, who's driving?
8. If I'm turning left in the outside lane, and you're turning left in the inside lane, and you migrate over without looking, I'm just going to let you hit me. Then I'm going to SUE YOU for everything. Pay Attention.
9. The "Peeing Calvin" stickers. Seriously, as if people from the coasts don't ALREADY get a bad impression of midwesterners.
10. There's a 5-7 mph buffer over almost every speed limit. You don't have to go EXACTLY 25 (except in school zones).

Had my CC # stolen the other day. What kind of loser steals from someone just to use the money to play online games? I want to meet this person some day, face to face, so I can inflict bodily harm upon him. Yes, I'm sure its a HIM, too. Why? as I asked before, what kind of loser? I think I know: probably 18-30, pale complexion, acne, greasy hair and skin, definitely a virgin (seriously, $100 on online video games?), employed, but probably at a burger king or something. Also, he probably lives in his mom's basement. Obviously has no father figure in his life, as he has never been disciplined adequately. In fact, his father is probably a dirt-bag too. His mother is probably a push-over. This is my first encounter with fraud/ID Theft. I have to say, I thought it was kind of funny at first, but the humor has worn off and now I am just generally misanthropic. I hope I catch the next person who steals from me. (s)he will regret it. guaranteed. enough.
