Unless thats a picture of the actual pit bull that attacked the couple, don't you think you're just kinda fanning the flames a little?

I don't know, maybe you couldn't find a more vicious looking picture.

I sit here and wonder if this had been a german shephard or a rott running loose, or heck even a beagle would you have been able to find an appropriate picture.

Give me a break.

I didn't really know anything about a pitbull issue until reading this blog. I now see tons of brand new bloggers bringing up information I guess was dead but now being talked about. When something happens in the news and it really ticks you off blogging about it might actually magnify the situation as I am seeing on the pitbull blogs.

I watched the news at noon from 12-12:30.

They just talked about the baseball game and if the weather would hold out. Then interviewed some kids skipping school to go to the game.

But not one mention of pit bulls.

Maybe these blogs can "fuel the fire" just as much as the news report itself?

Here's wht the story has gotten me and most of the offender are grade school kids.

I have had to go outside with my bulldog today because people are coming up the the fence, throwing things at her and taunting her. She looks like a pit and people assume she is a pit. I have been out there with the camera to get pictures, just incase she bites someone. My yard is clearly marked with beware of dog signs. I don't think my dog deserves the abuse and I don't think that I should have to be worried about my liability but I live in the city and people panic when the see one of these stories.

To answer your question. Yes, we would find an appropriate photo if the dog was of another breed.

It is almost impossible to find a photo of the actual dog in the assault, especially in time to make a daily newscast. Especially if we needed permission from the owner.

As artists, we are given the details of a story from which we create an image the corresponds. The story was about a Pit Bull who attacked a couple and their dog. Obviously the Pit Bull was aggressive. The graphic shows an aggressive Pit Bull. The photo was from the AP Graphics Bank, a library of images provided to news organizations.

The graphic fit the story. If the story had been about Pit Bull rescue, then yes it would have been inappropriate. But I don't see the problem with a graphic portraying a viscous Pit Bull for a story about a viscous Pit Bull.

oh my those pits are bad dogs. you might find a good one in each city but just bad mauling mutts. they need to prohibit future breeding of these killers.

Rosie-

Not really mad, just tired of hearing the same ol same ol when it comes to pit bulls...

Hopefully the irresponsible pet owner will be fined and made to realize that however they are taking care (or not taking care) of their animals is unacceptable.

I find it hard to blame an animal for its actions when the blame should fall on the owner.

This dog has attacked before, I wonder why nothing was done before...

I think irresponsible pet owners should be banned.

Just my thoughts.
