Babies Having Babies

When will these kids ever learn, having kids of your own is tough work. The newest underage parent on the block may very well be Chris Brown. According to sources, a nineteen year old girl called into a Virginia radio station claiming that Chris Brown is the father of her four year old son (for those that can not do math, that would have made the young Run It star around fifteen when he sired a child). Further the caller claims that Chris not only knew about his son, but that he and his mother were paying her to keep the whole thing under wraps. Geez, at least Jamie Lynn Spears was open about her underage mishap. Hopefully the mommy has received at least a million dollars for her silence. Otherwise we suggest she make a quick call to Michael Lohan and get some tips on milking a headline for all it's worth! August 1, 3:04 PM

My dad retired from teaching in the early 90's and it was not uncommon to have multiple pregnant girls in his 6th grade class. That's 11 or 12 years old, maybe even as young as 10 at conception.

It's not only tough work, it's doing a disservice to the babies that are born.

Teens get pregnant for a lot of different reasons, but the bottom line is not what is going on with the teens per se, it's them not getting the point that having a kid means that your life isn't all about you anymore, no matter how old of a parent you are.

It's the children of the children that suffer. Yep, even if they have 'money'. You cannot buy the wisdom that comes from mature parent. That only comes from maturity and life experience. Something that teens just don't have.

If you're old enough to have sex, you're old enough to use birth control until it's the appropriate time to be a parent. If you cannot manage that, how in the heck are you going to manage a lifetime of parenting? Which surely takes a lot more effort and work than having sex.

Our society supports and accepts this behavior and that is why it continues. People don't have the guts to look teens in the eye and say, 'don't be stupid' because it might affect Junior's self esteem.

I agree, jeepers4559. Heaven forbid we affect their self esteem. That's what's wrong with half the kids out there today, no one every told them "NO". They were given smiles and praise which is good when called for, not when they flunk the test and are told something like "I am so proud of you for taking the test, and you spelled your name correctly. I'm going to give you a B "
When I was 15, a boy I knew got a girl pregnant, they were both 15. That was back in 1969, they were married a week later, his father told them they could live with him until the day after they graduated from high school. IF they stayed in school, if they did not, they would have to move out the day they quit school. He told his son that he WOULD be getting a job when he turned 16, and he WOULD pay rent and some portion of any other bills incurred by them. Both of them stayed in school, graduated and moved out the day after graduation. His father had put all the money that they had paid in rent and for the bills into an account for them and gave it to them the day they moved. It was quite a bit of money, and it was a surprise to them. They are still together, (had a few rough years, but worked them out) and had 2 more children later on. My friend told me he always appreciated how his father handled everything. He learned well that there are consequences to all actions.
I think we have somehow forgotten, or lost the ability to teach our young girls to respect themselves, and our young men how to be men, and to respect themselves and the young girls.
