East St. Louis, City government has long been the failure of the eastside, funding for trash pickup, funding for city improvments, money for homeowner improvments where does it go. I remember when the casino came, ESL bought about 30 new police cars and began hiring the officers to fill them. That was it, personal security for the casino.

All of east st louis looks the same, blighted. The residents of ESL are victims of poor govenment. I do blame the people for not taking more action to improve your govenment and the way it spends your monies. As far as number of murders that can only be measured by number of people (population), stl city has 400,000 people ESL only has 30,000 thousand if that. You maybe should consider running for local government, maybe u can do more to improve ur city.

I grew up in the East St Louis area, yes there are good and bad in black and white people, but let me tell I have been on the receiver end of reverse discriminiation from the blacks. I have been called names while growing up, and while riding at that time the Bi-State bus. It's a shame people can't live along side one another without antanganizing one another, or trying to hurt one another.

East St. Louis IS a bad place. More murders are reported in St. Louis since it is over 10x as big. ESL has one of the highest murders rates in the COUNTRY. The rate is higher than St. Louis, Detroit and Gary Indiana. ESL has a corrupt govt. Also the % of people below the poverty line is over 35%, Im not saying those people are bad, but that tends to lead to higher crime rates. Also the avg. income is under 22k.

ESL is a toilet. Sorry to hear you live there. Maybe Barack Hussein Obama will solve all your problems. Although, it might be hard to do from the living room of his 1.6 mil mansion or the white house.

E.St.Louis is a lot of things if you focus on just one you miss the other things around you. We've come a long way and still got a long way to go but to write this like E.St.Louis is an innocent child aint right. Its alot of things that happen that don't get report or you hear just halve of the story. Cus right now this is east boogie da hood its alot good people here but also blacksheeps and bad seeds but if you just think its like that anywhere you go white or black no matter what race you won't know a person unless you get to know them and you still might not know what they're capable of doing.

Gotta stay here, on the first thought.... Well here i go. In east st louis, when it was WHITE a lot of money was being used to do things like clean the streets and such. When the guys in office saw that they were going to loose and blacks were going in office they STOP the repairs, let the trucks go down, and money was going all type of places. Then when the SLICKSTERS that got in offices, started sipping on the extra revenues till nothing was left work with. But that is not the problem here it is. When the business left the city, the city did not replace them. This is not a black thing, it is why companies move. incentives.... Ofallon grew with people and businesses comming. then (when belleville was the biggest city) Swansea, Collinsville, Caseyville and other (white) areas started to grow. This is not bad, but what happened was the blacks in East St. Louis, were unable to get loans to move in those areas, they WERE able to get loans to move in those homes in EAST ST LOUIS, that were OLD to say the least. And the whites were moving out by the hundreds. You could (a black man and family) move in the area, and within 6 mos 7 or 8 houses were going up for sale. Now here is why E. ST. L is bad. WE have to go to walmart or another city to get the goods we want, because none are in the city. If a small store tried to start business, he HAD to be able to accept food stamps, because a lot of the business`s that had low prices had left. They put up PROJECTS to house low income people, and when all the whites left (MOST) were low income. NOW this is NOT because they didn't work,

Gotta Finish,
People wanted to work, but the jobs were rationed. So if the stores are going to white areas, who do you think is getting the jobs. Now the city gov, even if they wanted to do right, had the income cut with business's moving, how could they keep the city running right. We need police that don't break the law and others that aren't looking on how they can get rich or their family a job. But to be honest that happens everywhere. And to say a city is bad, sit back and count the number of murders, now look at who getting murdered. If it is a crime of drugs, that is the life every where with drugs. If it's sex crimes I don't think E St. L is the biggest. If it's robbery that's a problem in all cities with low job access. I have been in East St Louis for 55 years and I have NEVER been robbed or anything but the closest I have been is with a police officer in caseyville and a belleville cop cussing me out about a parking spot. Hear about that on my blog (lionden). Anyway the people have 1 problem NEWS only goes out about the bad things. It's no story about when I got up off my CB and helped a white family with a flat on 64, you don't hear about that. As was said befor by another, there are good and bad seeds in EVERYONE, So stop pointing your fingers...The whole world watched OJ trial, wonder how many of those watched Scott Petterson's trial or the millionare that killed his wife with the rose delivery, because she was black married to a white man!!?

I grew up in East Boogie a long time ago, when it was East St. Louis. And I graduated from East Side. In the mid 60's blacks started expanding Rush City and many reletives were moving in from other parts of the country. This was also the time of "black power" and Negros started to be arrogant and dangerous.
Thus, the beginning of white flight. Whites supported the community financially because they WORKED and the Negros didn't want to. They found it easier to live off the State.
Whites moved out and business followed. Business goes where the money is, they don't stay behind to be robbed and senselessly killed. When all but the dummies and the Negros moved out it was easy pickins for the thugs. It didn't take long for the city to be desolite and the only business was Bar B Que and Niteclubs. Now, even the Negros have escaped to Belleville, Shiloe, Collinsville, Venice, Cahokia, Madison, etc. That's why there's nothing left in East Boogie! And Belleville is the next city in line for white people to lose tons of money on their homes so they can try to keep one step ahead of the thugs. Political correctness stands in the way of the truth!

Hell naw, he say blacks became arrogant and dangerous, lol.

Blacks stop being obediant to the oppressors who were not as intelligent as we were? Dumb as white people like you didn't know how to respect a black man and still don't, we really don't give a fuss, and you say because we arrogant. I say because your not cracked up to be all you say you were. History is over! Your now living in your future. I havn't seen a great white hero since ya'll killed Kennedy. Fairy boy your time is up, keep running we need the space.

ESL is a worthless piece of land, No one developed it but the railroads.

The truth is whites never developed and area for blacks, not even the projects were created for blacks, whites occupied all of pubic housing in since it began until the late 60s. All the communities blacks have lived were built for whites and we get the left overs. Still holds true today, Bellville will be just another leftovers. Property values, thats bogus, lenders make the money, your just a go-fer during selling time.

Well de opposum.......You are too young to know what you are talking about, and too stupid. You say you are smarter than the white man?...Then why is East Boogie a blighted, filthy, town with nothing left but thugs and poor people who can't escape?
We were happy with our town til your momma's and daddy's came to town. Decent people had to leave because you aren't fit to be neighbors! For the most part you are criminals and YOU destroyed the schools. That's right, We were doing fine without you. Look at your city now!
And let me tell you, son, something about the railroads......They were there long before you thugs took over! The only thing you know about railroads is how to break into a boxcar!
Your last posts says whites didn't develop the area for negros. Were we supposed to? Yes, getto housing was occupied by poor whites until you flooded the city in the late 60's.
That house you'll buy in Belleville was probably on the market 10 years ago for 150k, you'll get it for 40k and more than likely my tax dollars will pay for it. You're just a dumb kid who knows only to resort to violence and wait for your check the 1st of the month!

First-off hogheaded hillbillie its people like you that pisses me off for the fact that black people been oppressed for hundreds of years and after slavery they still had to cook your meals clean your house and yard look after your children. Black people back just wanted to work and be equal to whites. Have the same luxuary's they had a nice big house but thing was that white people couldn't handle the fact that a black family stayed next to them so they would move that's why all the white people left E.St.Louis and Decent you wanna say they were decent people. White people made a decent living but if you got a mind full of hate and thinking you're better than everybody else than nall I can't see no moral decenticy. You probably just see me as a dumb kid but I'm smart enough to know your a narrow minded fool. A raisin in the sun come on last night if you watched it I hope you learned something about black people.

East Boogie provided you with the same education I received back in the 60's....What did you do with it?...You stayed home during English class, that's for sure! Oppressed, oppressed, boy are we tired of hearing that! Why is it that some blacks actually "make it" in this society? Do you think that maybe they worked for it? Did they take advantage of that education they received. You bet they did, and at the same time dummy's like you sat around feeling oppressed. You have a mind full of hate. And a raisin in the sun is like Roots.......It's fiction!
And I know all I need to know about "your kind" of Negro! That's why smart white people don't drive through East Boogie!

A raisin in the sun and roots might not be based on one person's life. Its based on one races struggle for life. Only time I'm full of hate is when people like you wanna talk all high and might with your nose in the air looking down at other people. People make bad choices in life, society is full of different race's that didn't make in society. You think you know me but you don't. Your just mad cus your son is listening to 50 cent and pants sagging to his knees and your little girl is sucking on a black man, but I don't know nothing about you or your family. So think about it before you put me in a catagory.
