Just saw a few minutes of Sunday morning's (Oct. 26) Jaco Report. Hmmm. Remember, folks, when the lottery was passed back in the early '80s? Funds from that were supposed to benefit education. Guess they aren't anymore, because now there seems a need for this Proposition A. A tamper-proof fund? Well, I'm from Missouri. Show me how that will be possible, and I probably still won't believe it. Why can't anything in the state education coffers be tamper-proof now? If it isn't now, it won't be later. And higher-ups in any school district will find a way to have an all-expenses-paid trip (supposedly under the guise of an "educational trip") be paid for out of this tamper-proof money.
If this proposition passes, and since this money will be tamper proof, does that mean that no school district in the state will ever have another need to put a bond issue to its voters, especially one that will raise their taxes?
Bottom line: I will not support another casino getting started in this state until I see horseracing--at least, off-track betting--get started. OTB could easily be set up at the present casinos, if those owners are willing to set aside some space and take part in a trial run. Otherwise, my vote will go negative and my money will stay in my pocket until I visit Fairmount Park in Illinois.

Okay, it's time to put at least two officers with their dogs at each of these trouble spots. But have the officers in plain clothes and at separate areas of the stations. Not every canine officer's partner is a German shepherd, but every dog has the same kind of teeth.
These kids being able to hit two stations in the same evening is an absolute disgrace. But if they're juveniles, they'll get what amounts to a slap on the wrist and no mark on their records. Sometimes the whole "juvenile" designation is a travesty. They wanna act like some kind of tough adult, then let the punishment fit. A butt-whipping would get their attention first, then give them something to do that'll take the edge off all that energy they seem to have in too great a quantity. If any of my kids had ever been involved in such activity when they were teenagers, my sentiment would've been, "You stepped in it this time. No punishment I could give will be bad enough, but you'll get it, anyway, on top of what the law hands down."
This isn't harmless kid stuff. One of these nights, this group is gonna tangle with the wrong person or people, i.e., someone legally carrying a concealed weapon. Somebody will get seriously hurt, maybe killed. You go looking for trouble, even under the name of "just having fun," you're gonna find more than you ever bargained for. It's stupid behavior that could lead to a waste of life.

Kevin:
This was the first-ever season that I saw from beginning to end. Well, about 95% of it, anyway; missed a night here and there.
Wonderful that Mr. Nigel's dance talent was showcased last night on the finale, as well as on this morning's news show. However, let's see some of Mary Murphy's showcasing again from last night's show! That lady can shake her fringe! Nigel also choreographed a number the five top guys performed last night.
Don't know for sure how this season's contestants compared to the previous three seasons', but these people left me in absolute awe. I'll never, ever cease to be amazed at what the human body can be trained and disciplined to do, whether in sports or dancing. And Joshua, the winner, had done both (football and track and field) before deciding between sports and dancing. My God, what a hoofer he is!
Some of the performances done throughout this season either brought tears or chills, and I was so happy with the judges' choices for those to be danced again last night. I could have added one or two of my own favorites.
This show is definitely tops with me over "American Idol." While the "...Dance" judges can be tough when necessary, they just seem to have more heart and more encouragement, especially as the top 20 start being whittled down. Maybe it's all in the delivery of their criticisms.
Can hardly wait for season five...
