Okay, it's time to put at least two officers with their dogs at each of these trouble spots.  But have the officers in plain clothes and at separate areas of the stations.  Not every canine officer's partner is a German shepherd, but every dog has the same kind of teeth.

These kids being able to hit two stations in the same evening is an absolute disgrace.  But if they're juveniles, they'll get what amounts to a slap on the wrist and no mark on their records.  Sometimes the whole "juvenile" designation is a travesty.  They wanna act like some kind of tough adult, then let the punishment fit.  A butt-whipping would get their attention first, then give them something to do that'll take the edge off all that energy they seem to have in too great a quantity.  If any of my kids had ever been involved in such activity when they were teenagers, my sentiment would've been, "You stepped in it this time.  No punishment I could give will be bad enough, but you'll get it, anyway, on top of what the law hands down."

This isn't harmless kid stuff.  One of these nights, this group is gonna tangle with the wrong person or people, i.e., someone legally carrying a concealed weapon.  Somebody will get seriously hurt, maybe killed.  You go looking for trouble, even under the name of "just having fun," you're gonna find more than you ever bargained for.  It's stupid behavior that could lead to a waste of life.

There shouldn't be a juvenile (sp) category for this crap. If this is what they do, they have already wasted their life. I agree that there should be the 4 legged razor blades (dogs) at these places. With no hope of recourse for the idiots doing these attacks. If the powers that be let us common folk shoot back we wouldn't have all of these problems.

Most of the subways across the country won't allow access to the platform without paying. Also it would be nice to see more officers present as well as undercover.

That would help a lot. Paying first and turnstiles will cut down on loitering.

My wife and I experienced the same thing in Paris, France about eight years ago.

The kids would jump over the turnstiles and mess with the riders in "Clockwork Orange" style gangs.

Empathy for fellow beings encouraged at an early age by better parenting is the only solution.

Of course if this continues, a vigilante will go looking for these kids to satisfy an inner urge and we will be covering an even more socially charged story.

Parents, please be parents and control your hormonally charged youngsters before this situation explodes. That also goes for the kids riding those super charged motorcycles and harassing motorists

I agree with kkthoroughbred's blog. Simply another matter of spare the rod spoil the child. This is the end results. The baby boomer's generation was never like this. The one's who did have a discipline problem found themselves in juvenile, jail, or in uniform and off to the Vietnam war.

I think the real problem here is the parents or lack of parents . In this day and age so-called parents are only concerned when their child is killed or arrested .

I hope these ( COWARDS ) get what they deserve .

Fanboy:

I have no idea for sure where these kids originated from, and it doesn't matter. I also could care less what color they are. A punk is a punk, an animal is an animal, and critters do come in all different colors. Tragically, us humans--the so-called higher life form--can behave like animals more than some species do!

Actually, I'm surprised there weren't blogs outraged at my suggestion of a good spanking. Spanking on the buns does NOT mean a beating. Anyone who's upset with this needs to bear in mind that even animal moms will chastise their offspring by shaking them by the scruff of the neck or delivering a nip of the teeth or a swat with a clawed paw. If the babies don't mind and learn, they will DIE.

Mr. Pertzborn:

Not everyone wanting to defend himself/herself does so from some inner vigilante-type urge. Self-defense is a God-given right. Going into crime-ridden neighborhoods or areas with the only purpose being that of hoping to encounter a reason to shoot someone in "self-defense" is just as wrong as committing any other crime. At the same time, upstanding folks need to cry out, "Enough!" so that we don't have to keep tiptoeing and avoiding areas that have TROUBLE stamped all over them. Stamp out the trouble.

If any of the parents of these teens, as they're arrested, mouth off at the police about how their child couldn't have been involved, then perhaps they're also part of the problem. Kids eat this stuff up.

please see foxy39 comments on metro in general and this specifically. WE MUST ALL PUT THE PRESSURE ON METRO AND IT'S OFFICIALS AND OUR CITY LEADERS TO CLEAN UP AND IMPROVE THIS TRANSPORT SYSTEM. I AGREE, ABSENT PARENTS OR PARENTS TOO BUSY TO KNOW WHAT THEIR KIDS ARE UP TOO OR WHO DEFEND THEIR CHILD ARE A HUGE PART OF THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS! fOXY39

.45 is all thats needed. To bad st. louisans are such wimps and won't do what needs to be done. I was hoping with Mokwa sorry excuse for a police chief or person for that matter was gone. we would get some real policing of our city. But it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Where is frank castle when you need him, because St. louis certainly does. It is rotting away at the core.

Confronting someone with a legally concealed weapon (who is not afraid to use it) would probably be the best thing to happen. One or two such incidents, and they'd be a lot more hesitant to perform such acts. If officers are posted at one or two stations, these delinquents will just go some place else to harass tax paying, law abiding citizens. And, if they are arrested, they'll just get a slap on the wrist and be let go.

There needs to be a harsh punishment for these kids, what ever happened to the Scared Straight program? I guarantee that if you locked them up in State Penn for a night, they will become model citizens. And as far as the parenting goes, i dont care how old my kid is, i will not hesitate to bend him over my knee, sometimes kids need a good spanking and thats what these kids need.
