This is an informal poll. All I want to know is,Who thinks one or both of the parents should be charged in the death of that little girl? Who knows, maybe somebody in charge will see this.

All I know is that I'm tired of hearing people say,"leave the parents alone, they have already been through enough" if they were good parents how could they had forgotten that they have a baby? Charge 'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sinse both were tragic accidents+EQUAL reckless neglect from what I understand,BOTH should be treated the SAME!

I think all people should be charged when a tragedy like this happens no matter race or status. I dont think you should go to jail forever but we all need to learn to be more responsible for our actions and we also need to learn to slow down and prioritize.

I think they should be charged, and they have any moral fabric at all, they are dying inside as we speak. People like that should be banned from procreating. No more nookie for the bad parents, because you folks killed your baby girl.

No prison. No Probation. Strap them into a car, alone, just like their baby was, with no escape, recreate the temperature and best of luck because it's time for the paren's to feel what they put their 7 month old through.

The Coroner will be waiting.

OK...while I have very little sympathy for stupidity, we do not know all the details unless you were there. We just know what the media tells us.

What about the dad a few years back who took his groceries in and forgot there was a baby in the back seat of his truck and he decided to take a nap on the couch...he was not charged.

While I think people need to be held accountable for their actions, these parents have to explain it to their 5 year old that their forgetfulness cost the baby her life. That is something that nobody should ever have to deal with.

I am not sure what the judicial system could do to them that is worse than what they are feeling. What about the 5 year old? What happens to him when his parents go away? He is already traumatized by what happened...now do more damage?

YES...BY THE WAY...I AM A MOTHER OF 4 KIDS!

The law prohibits anyone from leaving children unattended in a car for any period of time. They should be charged, but I believe the sentences should be limited.

I don't know all the details so I can't say either way. I don't believe most of what I hear on the news anymore, so I'm sure we don't even know half of the story.

they made an awful mistake and they certainly didn't leave her in the car intentionally. No charges.

Limoges, well said.

Last winter, local father backed over and killed his son in his driveway---not charged.
Two months ago, St. Chas mom left her 3, 5, 8 year olds alone to play in one of those plastic baby pools in the backyard. The 3 year old drowned, no charges.
Constantly and consisitently cases of parents leaving their children behind while the adults escape house fires.
Three weeks ago a local mother driving an SUV up in N. county swerved to avoid something in the road and when her SUV flipped, both of her kids were thrown from the car because she didn't have the seatbelts properly secured.

It is wrong, it is tragic. I pray it never happens again.
I don't think "charging" or "not charging" should be in any way influenced by the opinions of a bunch of bloggers who know very little about the case.

The parents won't be charged at all. The parent (singular) that physically walked away from the car leaving the baby inside will be charged - child neglect. There will be no homicide charges whatsoever but something under the heading of negligence. I could care less if they were educated and/or doctors - he/she made a mistake and must pay the price.

For the parent who left the child in the car - I hereby sentence you (and your spouse) to life with a painful memory of your absent mindedness. May you have no more children in the future and your current living one be better parented. An actual sentence will be handed down and will be suspended.

Neglect, is neglect i don't care if you are a doctor or a child care worker. If they "forgot" their child they weren't good parents anyway. I cannot imagine ever forgetting my son, he is always number one on my mind no matter how busy, or tired or whatever that I am. They both did it, they should both be charged.

Wait a minute here.

How come when children die in Fires, they NEVER charge the Parent/s?

Your making this into something its not.
Prosecutors examine all the facts, we don't have all the fact! we have what the media tells us. We are making a conclusion based on a assumption. Gosh I'd hate to have you on my jury! Do you believe that those two parents made up that story? When a Cop shoots another he brakes a covenant(law) but because he/she's doing a job he/she get the benefit of of doubt.
they still have to have board of inquiry and find them not guilt of murder! they call it justifiable homicide. Let wait until all the fact or in!!

Fireman: No jury will convict the one parent that left the child in the car - if there is a charge it'll be less of a crime than speeding 40 over in Illinois.

As for kids dying in fires, unless it's proven that there was neglect then you're right - no charges ever happen. But, a few months ago 2 children died in a fire and the teenage sister wasn't home (she was supposed to be). I believe it was a neglect charge with no sentence. This will be a wrist slap but the true sentence is life - they need counseling.

So neglect is another word for error? The horror of killing your baby is not enough of a punishment?

Speedy62269 read my blog

Ineed: No murder happened. The parent who forgot about their child was neglectful in his/her actions. I cannot fathom what type of charges would be brought up - that's probably why nothing has happened yet. It's unfortunate and we the people should help correct forgetfulness. John Pertzborn blogged on it and we do need something in our cars to beep at us or remind us that something/someone is in the car.

I know exactly how you feel about "murder" in this issue and it's just not the case. If the SA would come forward with a murder charge a jury would not convict.

I wish a decision would be made soon on some type of charges though.

This pic is what I like to call my happy place.I cant wait for spring to get in full bloom and get back up to the woods.Just sitting in the middle of all that nature really gives you time to think and reflect on things.I have had deer walk within ten feet of me while sitting in the woods, what a great feeling to be at one with nature.
