....from my local Home Depot...

Hope everyone has a great morning!

Should mention this was shot with my little pocket camera, a Canon Powershot SD1000, this should show everyone it is not all about the equipment and it is something anyone can learn to do.

This is the SD1000:

It cost me less than $150.00

Wow! This is really beautiful. I honestly wouldn't have thought this was taken at a Home Depot, because it looks so pretty! Did you even use Photoshop on this?

Since I shoot flat, meaning I have all my camera settings set to either 0 or neutral, I do all my contrast, sharpening and so on in Lightroom and finish up the fine details in Photoshop. I do nothing more than I did in the darkroom back in the day, as they say.

I can tell you that this is damn close to how I saw the flower when I grabbed the shot. It was in the small inside greenhouse section of the store. It was a overcast day and the combination of the diffused sunlight and indoor lights some 10 feet above my head gave the flower this glowing quality and being surrounded by all the green leaves it stopped me dead in my tracks.

Probably a lot more information than you were looking for :), also in my gallery there are a lot of images from places like Wal-Mart, Lowes and even some from a drive thru at a Wendy's in Washington state.

Lighting and angle are the most two important concepts of photography......

Pretty Flower but you know me.... I like pictures that are busy and tell a story.... I'll look and see if I can find one of my favorite pictures of all time.....

I have lived in the St. Louis area pretty much all my life. Lived in a few other places, like New Orleans, but I always end up coming back home to the mid-west. I am a photographer and an avid bicyclist. I may not always be able to ride due to chronic pain from nerve damage in my lower spine, but it is what I love to do. I have had the pleasure of having my work hang at two group shows in a Chicago gallery. One of my favorite horror/dark artists was part of the show, Chad Michael Ward, having my work hang with his was a true honor for me. Recently I have started showing my work here in St. Louis, so far I have been part of four to date at The Koken Art Factory, Soulard Art Mart (SAM Gallery) and The Art COOP in the central west end. I am also starting to hold local photo classes, giving anyone that wants to learn how to either use their camera better, learn the basics of buying a good camera or find more information on how to improve their own photography skills. The classes will be held at places like The Missouri Botanical Gardens or The St. Louis Zoo. These classes/seminars will be conducted by myself along with some of my fellow photographer friends if needed and they will all be done free of charge. John W
