Devlin: Unsafe in Missouri Prison?

Convicted kidnapper and child molester Michael Devlin might be such a pariah, even among other people who have committed horrible crimes, that might have to be sent to some other state so he can live long enough to serve his life prison sentences.

The corrections department says almost-unprecedented security was used to move Devlin from his cell in eastern Missouri to the corrections department's evaluation center in St. Joseph. He is being held alone and under tight guard until he's moved to the prison where he'll die someday.

Department spokesman Brian Hauswirth says the department's responsibility is to make sure he lives...to serve life. He say the department can work with other states to house inmates whose lives might be in danger in Missouri's prisons.

The department knows Devlin will be known, no matter where he goes in Missouri. So it might take several weeks to decide what to do with him because Missouri has to work with several states to arrange alternate quarters if it is determined Devlin's life would be in danger if he's held in Missouri.

The department can announce that Devlin has been shipped out. But it will not make public where he goes.

Well I think that is crap. He should serve his sentence in Missouri, and IMO it should be in Potosi. Where he began his little game. He deserves anything he gets. I have to say I'd hate to have to be the people who protect him, because after what he has done, I'd probably let them kill him.

who cares? He needs to serve where he did the crime. Who cares if he is unsafe there. Look at him.

Personally I think all this Devlin crap has to stop. It is over and done with. Let the kids get on. Stop talking about it or else they never will. He is the devil and he will go to hell. The devil may not even want him there. I think he is worse than the devi.

This is common practic not just something special for Devlin. Our prison system is full of people just like him.

As long as he stays locked up I could care less the details of it.

Euthanasia sounds much nicer. The thought of him eating on my tax dollar sickens me.

I dont care where he serves his time. I am just glad he will never get out again.

I do agree with MamaGoose though, I hate the thought "supporting" him on my tax dollar.

Wherever he is sent, he will not be safe. The prisons are full of people who were abused as children and will seek their own revenge on him. I doubt seriously he will survive long anywhere he is sent. truth713

As twisted as this is it goes like this - the state must provide him some level of safety to serve out his sentence. Kind of like how they jump through hoops to keep the folks on death row alive just so we can kill them. While we all may agree that Devlin should be plopped down in general population and let the other prisoners have at him, it would open up the state to a huge lawsuit when Devlin's family sues for not providing him some safety while serving his sentence. And as sad as it is, his family most likely would win. It's a sick society we live in when we must give the criminal more safety than we can give the victim. Welcome to modern America.

I'm so glad we are paying his health insurance premiums. Some laid off worker,veteran of war, of some poor kid does not desreve what this garbage does. I can only hope when he becomes deathly ill he gets the best medical treatment in the world in a hospital with judges,lawyers,kings and presidents.
Maybe we should all send him our money directly to him so the politicians don't get a chance to "tax" our tax money before he receives it. I can just see the Devil-in fanclub having fund raisers, standing in intersections with slopbuckets, and in front of stores selling "Devo" pizzas.
Lets start a raffle and see how long he lives in prison. What's the latest,20 life sentences/600 years? Wouldn't one itty bitty death sentence make more sense. Oh justice how wonderful some laws are,cops can kill kids for changing gears,how many chances do you get to be on Oprah.
