As Dem's describe a future when the US finally embraces anything but carbon energy They now oppose how the wind and solar power is to come on line.  The engery companies need to build transmission lines to places where people live from where it is generated. But the Dem's oppose that. They say they want non corbon energy but vote against it.

What do you think about wind power and how it would effect weather. The amount of energy wind mills will take from the prevaleing winds to produce mega- megawatts to suply electric grids would surely change weather paterns. Would it or not? It just seems to me that what wind hits the windmill blade is used up.

That has to be the most asinine theory I`ve heard in years. Do you think that wind gets used up when it hits tall buildings or trees? What about solar power? Do you believe that absorbing sunlight to create energy is going to darken our skies? Any wind that hits a windmill continues on it`s way, just as it does around skyscrapers. Let`s face it, those tall buildings in Chicago haven`t put a damper on the winds there, have they?

Right on Weird! LOL! kdubken I don't mean to critisize, but did you think that through?

LOL---I have also been trying to run a car on water for years, but, keep an open mind on this. Water is kinetic energy. When it runs through a turbine it continues on to the ocean driven by gravity. Wind is dynamic energy produced by difference in temperatures; warm air riseing and cold air falling. Wind energy is then disapated when it encounters resistence in the form of tall buildings, trees, mountains, water vapor, ect, ect. I have built windmills and been on the platform at the top of one to start it up. You can feel a pretty good breeze blowing, but, when it starts cranking you don't feel much. So where did the wind go if it was not disipated? Remember we are talking mega-wattage to power something like the northeast electric grid. Question is probably moot because there may not be enough open ground to construct that many of the screaming memmees.

PS--- Don't be mean to me because I sometimes think outside the box.

I heard New York is planning to put windmills in the ocean. Nothing out there to block the wind.
Do you think if everybody in Florida went outside and blew, they could have blown the tropical storm back out to sea?? hmmm. I wonder.....

LOL--Guess I will have to keep trying to get water to burn. Makes as much sense as curly lite bulbs and over inflated tires.

All Seriousness aside now jsage"s point is that Dem's shout the problem and and fight their own solutions. They don't work anyway so why not? Dem's get a lot of political milage out of causeing people misery.

Democrats are chronic malcontents. Nothing is ever good enough so we should give up before we even try. In reality, the wind mills and solar panels probably compromise the view from the Kennedy family's compound. So now they oppose it.

Dems, my arse. The people who oppose those high tension transmission lines are the people who would be living under them or would lose their homes to eminent domain to run new power transmission lines. And those are Democrats and Republicans as well as Independants. Water is not kinetic energy, it is a substance that exists in nature. If it is elevated and is being pulled down by gravity or expansion, it becomes kinetic energy. A windmill displaces the energy of the wind, so being at the center of a propeller would be like the eye of a huricane, not much happening, but on the outer bands of that hurricane winds could be over 200 MPH. "curly lite bulbs and overinflated tires" is stupidity, CORRECTLY inflated tires is what is recommended, not overinflated. And the "curly lite bulbs" are proven to decrease the use of electricity, not as much as new technology, such as LED bulbs, but rightfully, using 23 watts as opposed to 100 watts makes more sense, doesn`t it? One hundred years ago we had steam powered cars, although the technology at the time wasn`t up to the task. We also had electric cars, but we can`t replicate that with our present technology. Read up on the Stanley Steamer or the Baker Electric truck, they both worked. The placement of those wind generators make all the difference, no matter where you place them, you still have to carry that power through wires to it`s destination. Radiofrequency from power lines has been proven to be detrimental to your health, that`s the issue, not Dems, nor Repubs.

PSylvester20...What about the hundred of thousands of dollars worth of solar panels installed at W`s compound at Crawford, Texas? Of course, he paid for them out of his own pocket, minus the tax incentive allowed by the state, (one for each family member), if he really didn`t believe in solar energy, why bother? I would be proud to call myself a malcontent, because those who never go forward are in actuality going backward. If you`re not a malcontent, why bother with education or medical attention? That`s because you want something better, ergo, you`re a malcontent.

Oh boy BOOGEDY BOOGEDY BOOGEDY He He He lmao Haveing a little fun weird. Can't you tell when someone is pullin your leg? Get real. Energy in the amount we use is going to come from oil gas coal and nukes. 90% at least for the next 200 years. Democratics don't go forward they go in circles. They talk in circles and think they can control the weather by useing curly light bulbs LOL

Let's see, Democrats are malcontents...

...but complaining about taxes, welfare, abortion, equal rights, gun control, family planning, separation of church and state, Social Security, Medicare, universal health insurance, environmental protection, alcohol, socialism, teen sex, porn, Hollywood, drugs, equal opportunity, social programs, flag burning, etc. etc. on and on is NOT?

Yeah, you're right - just listen to Rush for a few minutes. Just pleased as punch and happy as can be at the way things are!

Funny, he SHOULD be. Things have gone his way for seven years now, what's left to complain about?

If you conservatives think things are bad NOW, just WAIT until we actually may live under a CENTRIST government some day!

Now I'm going to go outside and solve the energy problem by drilling for oil in my back yard.

If the Dem's were centrist that would be one thing but how do you consider wanting the gov to run everything as centrist? Sik if you hit oil under the Dem's the gov will take it.

Wow... I didn't think my little comment would draw such a response. I think the operative word you neglected to notice is "chronic". Meaning, even when Democrats get their way, they aren't happy with it. That's all I was saying. Of course we all experience some angst, that's why we constantly push to better ourselves. If you want to counter what I say by bashing Republicans, go ahead. I have separate issues with them. It's not my goal to get caught up in this constant idiotic liberal versus conservative argument.

I am so glad we are finally talking about energy and how to solve our shortages.
There are several things we can do as citizens to curb our usages.
1. Car Pool
2. Use Buses
3. Push to drill for Natural Gas in South-Eastern Missouri, as well as the Gulf.
4. Build a high speed Mag-Lev Rail system across the country to lessen the use of airplane's in the air. On average most air carriers have their planes setting on the ground burning fuel waiting to take off due to traffic. We need another mass transit system to lessen the congestion.
5. Stop talking negative about people Conservative / Liberal, Republican / Democrat, we're all Americans, we have to solve these problems we're having ourselves. Through cooperation and working together we can and will solve these and many other problems. It just takes a willingness to do so.

It is more than an Energy crisis, it is a Security crisis as well. I am tired of our incompetent government, blocking Domestic Drilling. We have more oil than the Middle East combined. No we will not destroy our environment, this is a Red herring, created by those wishing to undermine this country.

Why would any intelligent country want to remain dependent on countries that do not like us. Tapping our own oil will give us independence from a volatile part of the world. Tapping our own oil and utilizing Nuclear energy, makes us less vulnerable, and keeps energy cost low. Cost effective alternative energy is not available yet,but Domestic drilling will become our bridge to alternative energy, as new technology becomes available in the future.

Lets see now, if windmills don't extract or remove energy from the wind, then, we have a source of infinite energy. Wierd, you just solved all the worlds energy problems. NOT, there is this little thing called conservation of energy that says this cannot be true. The energy generated by the windmill (actually, that plus losses due to friction, electrical resistance, etc.) is taken out of the wind. Simple as that.

The great thing about wind energy is IT's FREE!! Once you pay for the windmill you can make as much electric as you want and no one will charge you for it. Could you imagine if every house had a windmill how much energy would be produced? Come up with a storage system for when the wind stops. (or hire a politician to come over) :-) Put a windmill on top of your electric car !!
Do away with nuclear and oil power plants.
