I watched Obama and McCain discuss issues Saturday evening at Saddleback Church, in California. It was hosted by Rick Warren, and I thought the questions were tough and fair. Both candidates had 1 hour to answer identical questions, posed by Rick Warren. The questions were asked separately.  This format allowed the viewer, to get to know the candidate better, without any media filters or political spin.

If you watched this debate, how did you feel about the format?

Which Candidate did better?  Explain your answer!

I thought both candidates did very good, I understand better now why I agree with McCain, and why I disafree with Obama.
I enjoyed the format, it prevented all that posturing and back talking that you see in the so-called debates, of recent memory.

It was on Saturday evening. CNN and Fox covered it, not sure who else covered it. I liked the format so much better than the typical debates that we see today. It allowed the viewer to get to know the candidate so much better.

I would like to see this format tried at the upcoming Presidential debates, as long as the questions are fair.

I liked this type of format. What I would have liked to have heard the questions asked in categories hearing one candidates answers then the others vs all of the questions before asking the other.

I thought McCain was more to the point while Obama danced around. Ex: When does human life begin. Obama danced, the moderator didn't ask for God's opinion when life begins but Obama's. McCain was not afraid to answer.

I take it back. This whole thing was just a farce set up by a religious nutjob. The fact Obama participated in this idiotic crap is shameful. I'd say the same for McCain, but he is so desperate for votes he would tea-bag Al Sharpton if it would clench a state come November.

Neither candidate was forced to attend this debate, they both chose to do this. This debate was hosted by a popular Pastor, and I thought the questions were intelligent and thoughtful. I am in favor of this debate format in the future, by an independent moderator. It does not have to be hosted by a Pastor, or have religion as the theme, but someone that is independent. The format was great, and you really saw the personalities come through loud and clear.

Yeah it was obvious that Obama was scripted and cautious, but McCain came through as someone with a core! McCain's answers were direct and to the point. Obama answered the questions, as a guarded politician would, being afraid he might offend someone.

They were both asked the exact same question. Obama won the toss to have the questions asked of him first while McCain was in a sound proof room.

How was it a farce and why did you say a religious nutjob? I could see you saying farce if they were not asked the exact same question. Religious nutjob??? I never seen or heard of this Rev before. He sure did not come across as a nutjob. He came across more as a journalist asking questions.

Rick Warren wrote a book called the Purpose Driven Life, which sold 35 million copies. If you have not read this book, I would suggest that you read it. Regardless of your Religious or non-religious background, this is an uplifting-powerful book. Rick Warren is a thoughtful intelligent man, and totally down to earth.

Two words that really don't set well together with me.

"Popular"

and

"Pastor"

The book the "Purpose Driven Life" all but replaced the more meaty Matthew Mark Luke and John versions and frankly scared me alittle bit with it's mega marketing and presumptious "read this and you'll get a purpose in life" routine. Then of course the other books that went with it would have set me back a third of my paycheck at the time.

No... this is questionable at best as the questioner himself has not been... what's that word... "vetted"?

I felt that McCain sat in his motorcade and was told the questions. Then his staff briefed him on the best answers and thus he had a clear advantage. I think the pastor should have waited for McCain to be placed in that room, and someone should have made sure no cheating could take place. Honestly, its unfair to both as McCain may have had an unfair advantage, or he may have been better prepared. But we'll never know.

Obama actually had the advantage! McCain was late and only received 2 questions before he went on stage, whereas Obama received 3 questions before the debate started. No matter how you stack it up, McCain was more natural, and Obama was more guarded. McCain is the warrior, and Obama is the pseudo intellectual!

Regarding Rick Warren....whatever. Mr Warren asked good questions..end of story!

Yeah. Too bad McCain cheated. He was listening the whole time.

And I heard "pastor" so I labeled him a religious nutjob. I'm extremely biggoted like that.

I chose the name Jimbob, but it was already taken, so I added another bob. Since Liberal elitist think they are better and smarter, I chose a Hick name, because you have preconceived notions that we are Stupid Hicks! Based on your condescending comments, I was correct. Also, Reagan was one of our greatest Presidents, and I am proud to post his picture!

Statueman comes across as a Jerk, and lacking in Common Sense! Mutatis is a confused liberal, that wants to believe this idea, but cannot support the idea with facts.

Anyone with integrity and Common Sense would have concluded that McCain did very well last Saturday. Obama came across as programmed! I know that Statueman hates Conservative Christians, so he will never give any credit in that area. Keep up the nasty comments, because it reflects on your character only!

Conservative Christianity I like. Conservative hypocrisy and demogaugery is another matter entirely.

Quite well thank you... did you still need a translation for that writing on the wall?
