I am unsure if this has been posted here or not. I looked through a few pages and had not seen it. If it was posted before, it is good enough to post again.

This has also been made into a song, No I am not going to post another video. But the Song Really does justice, the poem adds a tear, the song makes you Cry.

There are also other versions of this, including one for the Marines.I Like this one best cause it covers them all.

Take Care all and be Safe and Enjoy the Holidays.

Lets not forget our Soldiers this Holiday.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS DWELLING DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL AROUND,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING ON THE MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF EVERY KIND,
  A SOBERING THOUGHT
CAME ALIVE IN MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
I COULD THAT MOST SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT AT ALL, HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I 'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

THEN I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

IN THE MORNING AROUND THE WORLD,
CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN LANDS FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD HIS ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE";

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
BUT I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AS BOTH OF US SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE HIM
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND GOD BLESS YOU THIS NIGHT."

This does have a music Video in it but is not a music or entertainment blog. Sometimes the right song can explain what your feeling.

I believe I have more Blogs on Racism than any other type of blog. It is so heart breaking to see so much Racism alive and thriving. Not only African Americans are offended by racism toward their race. Many White people are offended by it also. I am on of them. I am not saying I have never been a racist, I have used words I regret out of anger, in the past, but I also apologized for it when I came to my senses. Many times it is not only what you say but it is also how you say something that makes what you say racist. I hope you were able to understand that.

I am Native American/Mexican, and there are also a few German, Irish in my Family. Also there are many (Blood related) African Americans in my family, almost half my family are mixed or full African Americans (They do not call themselves African Americans either, they Proudly call themselves Black)

So when I hear a person putting down their race it offends me and makes me sad that this type of behavior still exists. Have we all not grown and evolved? Can't we Just learn about the past instead of always Bring it to today?

I hate Crime as much as the next person; many people blame the AA community for it. ALL Races commit Crime, it may not all be equal, but each Race commits crime, so instead of putting the blame on a Race put it on the Criminals. Do not blame a whole race for a few bad apples, Blame the Bad apple.

When are we going to come together and act like we are suppose to act. Like THE HUMAN RACE we are, not the African American race, the White Race, the Hispanic Race, the Latino Race, etc. We are all ONE RACE THE HUMAN RACE!!!

Stop being so scared of what or who you do not know and learn….If you learn about and get to know someone or a Race, you might understand them better and then you most likely would get along.

I wanted everyone to see and hear this song, I am sure many have forgotten this song. It is an old one. Think about the song. I am posting the Lyrics to help you understand the song. What this song says is something we all should do. Thank you for your time. I pray for safe and Happy Holidays for all.. Video on Bottom.

"Man in The Mirror"

I'm gonna make a change,
For once in my life
It's gonna feel real good,
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right . . .
As i, turn up the collar on my
Favourite winter coat
This wind is blowin' my mind
I see the kids in the street,
With not enough to eat
Who am i, to be blind?
Pretending not to see
Their needs
A summer's disregard,
A broken bottle top
And a one man's soul
They follow each other on
The wind ya' know
'cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
A better place
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and
Then make a change
(take a look at yourself, and
Then make a change)
(na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)

I've been a victim of a selfish
Kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no
Home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me,
Pretending that they're not alone?

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
A better place
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and
Then make a change
(take a look at yourself, and
Then make a change)
(na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)

I've been a victim of a selfish
Kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no
Home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me,
Pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred,
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
(washed-out dream)
('cause when you close your heart)
You can't close your . . .your mind!
(then you close your . . . mind!

That man, that man, that
Man, that man
With that man in the mirror
(man in the mirror, oh yeah!)
That man, that man, that man
I'm asking him to change his ways
(better change!)
You know . . .that man
No message could have
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world

A better place
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
Take a look at yourself and

Then make a change
(take a look at yourself and
Then make a change)
Hoo! hoo! hoo! hoo! hoo!
Na na na, na na na, na na,
Na nah

(oh yeah!)
Gonna feel real good now!
Yeah yeah! yeah yeah!
Yeah yeah!
Na na na, na na na, na na,
Na nah

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
A better place
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and
Then make a change

Na nah
(oh yeah!)
Gonna feel real good now!
Yeah yeah! yeah yeah!
Yeah yeah!
Na na na, na na na, na na,
Na nah
(ooooh . . .)
Oh no, no no . . .
I'm gonna make a change
It's gonna feel real good!
Come on!
(change . . .)
Just lift yourself
You know
You've got to stop it.
Yourself!
(yeah!-make that change!)
I've got to make that change,
Today!
Hoo!

They follow the pattern of
The wind, ya' see
Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
(starting with me!)

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(ooh!)
And no message could have
Been any clearer

I'm starting with the man in
The mirror
(ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(change his ways-ooh!)
And no message could've
Been any clearer
If you wanna make the world
A better place
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
Take a look at yourself and
Then make that . . .
(take a look at yourself and
Then make that . . .)
Change!

I'm starting with the man in the mirror,
(man in the mirror-oh yeah!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(better change!)
No message could have
Been any clearer
(if you wanna make the
World a better place)
(take a look at yourself and
Then make the change)
(you gotta get it right, while
You got the time)
(man in the mirror)
You got to
You got to not let yourself . . .
Brother . . .
Hoo!
(yeah!-make that change!)
You know-I've got to get
That man, that man . . .
(man in the mirror)
You've got to
You've got to move! come
On! come on!
You got to . . .
Stand up! stand up!
Stand up!
(yeah-make that change)
Stand up and lift
Yourself, now!
(man in the mirror)
Hoo! hoo! hoo!
Aaow!
(yeah-make that change)
Gonna make that change . . .
Come on!
(man in the mirror)
You know it!
You know it!
You know it!
You know . . .
(change . . .)
Make that change.

I know this should probably go into the music section, But I did not think to many people would see it. Thanks for reading anyway.

With the holidays and Cold days upon us, I tend to think More and more about those in need, those who for whatever reason are unable to Fend for themselves, Whether it be having a warm home, food, warm Clothing, Presents under the tree for their children. (You get the Idea) Basically there are many out there that do not have anything we all have and tend to take advantage of. I know many people out there donate to help these people or to organizations that help. Thank you. If you are not in any position or unable to doante or help, Please at least Pray for them.Anyway I can not help to think of this older song during these times. So I wanted to share the words with you. I am sure many of you heard it and are familiar with it, but for those of you who have not, here are the lyrics. I hope this song gets people thinking this season. If you want to hear the song there are many places online you can listen to it free.

I have attached the utube video to this blog for you to hear it and see the video, I hope it worked

I had an Uncle who chose to live on the streets and this song helps me remember him. (He passed away years ago) It also makes me think of the others out there, Specially our Vets.

The song is “Another day in Paradise” By Phil Collins

She calls out to the man on the street
'sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me? '

He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, it's another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Think about it.
She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she's been crying
She's got blisters on the soles of her feet
Can't walk but she's trying

Oh think twice, it's another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Just think about it.
Oh lord, is there nothing more anybody can do
Oh lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she's been there
Probably been moved on from every place
'cos she didn't fit in there

Oh think twice, it's another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Just think about it.

Hmmm..

Think about it

Its Just , it's another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise
Its just another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,
You and me in paradise
  Paradise.

Just think about it…. Paradise….

Cahokia mayor says police target family

October 05, 2007

MORE

-->

Mayor Frank Bergman said some police officers are targeting his family, and one arrested his nephew while allowing a drunken driver to drive away.

Sgt. Ron Labbee, who was suspended this week for two days without pay, and a part-time officer, who was fired, both said they were simply trying to do their jobs.

Labbee said his report of the incident involving the mayor's nephew was '100 percent the truth.'

Labbee pulled over a Ford truck about 10:50 p.m. Aug. 2 at the intersection of St. Patrick Boulevard and Jerome Lane after he heard an argument with raised voices.

The unidentified driver stopped, and the passenger, Kevin Bergman, got out of the vehicle, telling Labbee, 'The mayor's my uncle and he's gonna have your job,' according to the police report.

Kevin Bergman refused to follow commands, Labbee stated in the police report, threatened Labbee's job and called him names.

After Labbee handcuffed Bergman and placed him in the back of his patrol car, Labbee returned to the truck, smelled a moderate odor of alcohol and gave the driver field sobriety tests.

The driver passed.

Bergman alleged Labbee also gave the driver a portable Breathalyzer test that was not noted in the report. That revealed the driver's blood alcohol level was 0.14 --almost twice the 0.08 legal limit to drive in Illinois, he said.

The driver wasn't charged with driving under the influence, and was allowed to leave, driving nearly 15 miles to Collinsville, Bergman said.

Labbee, who also is the officers' union vice-president, declined to elaborate on the details of the case citing department policy.

Kevin Bergman, 29, was charged with resisting a peace officer, but the charge was dismissed at the request of 'the police department, according to an order signed Sept. 19.

'I don't understand why Mother's Against Drunk Driving aren't down here protesting this,' Mayor Bergman said. 'We just had an officer killed by a drunk driver. If (Labbee's) fellow officers want to support an officer that allowed a drunk driver to leave the scene and drive 15 miles when a fellow officer, the first in Cahokia's history, was killed by a drunk driver, if they want to do that, shame on them.'

Officer Jeremy Chambers was killed on April 24, 2006, when the squad car he was driving was struck head-on by a GMC pick-up driven by William Anderson, who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Police Chief Rick Watson, who did not identify Labbee, said an officer was placed on two day's suspension without pay after the incident with Kevin Bergman.

In late May or early June, part-time officer Chris Fitch said he was fired after getting into an argument with the mayor's sister when he tried to arrest Kevin Bergman on an outstanding warrant for a Fairview Heights domestic battery.

Less than a month later, Fitch, also a full-time maintenance man for Cahokia pool and ice rink, was told he was suspended indefinitely from the Police Department. Two weeks later, a lieutenant called and asked Fitch to return his equipment.

'No one has ever told me why I was let go,' Fitch said. 'That incident is the only reason thing I can think of.'

The dispute between the police and the mayor resulted in at least four officers calling in sick on Tuesday.

'The city ran fine without them,' Mayor Bergman said.

I am a Housewife and mother of two Teenagers. I speak Very Passionately about Children issues and issues about Schools. The best thing you could give your child is an education. A good education is the only way to a great chance to a decent life. We as Parents are the only true Protection and Voices Our children have. We must teach our Kids Morals, Values and Respect to everyone. We as Parents must do this ourselves it is our job we cannot rely on teachers or anyone else to do it. I also Believe It is Time to Unite and Come together. Pray for One another. May God Bless Everyone.
