This may apply to you, it may not. But thought I would share just incase. With price's on everything now aday's. If you can save some money,it is a good thing.

Cell phone companies are charging $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 Information calls.

DialingforDollars.jpg Dialing for Dollars image by AskAboutTheJuice

Since no one carries a telephone directory in their vehicle, they get away with it.

When you need to use the 411 Information option, simply dial 1(800) FREE 411

(1-800-373-3411) ;

you will incur no charge.

This works on your home telephone as well.

If you enter this number into your cell phone you will always have a way now to get a phone number if you need one.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends.

Ok this is the first year for me to plant Moonflower's.

The leave's are huge. I have been anticipating for the bloom's to appear as they have grown up and over thing's I have planted them around.

Well I noticed a closed bloom yesterday morning. I looked around and I told Truman  "Man,when it get's in full bloom they are going to be loaded."

He said " Yeap".

I didn't look at them lastnight as I passed at 10:30, (Will have to look and see if they are opened tonight also,as they are suppoe to be night bloomer's.)but this morning they are great.

BUT!!!! Not what I expected.

I expected white flower's, like a big morning glory.

Well they are like a morning glory but not white.

By next weekend they will be really full with bloom's everywhere I have them planted.

Look inside at what they looked like this morning .

SOME OF US WILL UNDERSTAND THIS MORE THAN OTHERS!

I just wanted to get the day over with and........... go down to Smokey's for a few cold ones. Sneaking a look at my watch, I saw the time, 1655.

Five minutes to go before the cemetery gates are closed for the day.

Full dress was hot in the August sun. Oklahoma summertime was as bad as ever -- the heat and humidity at the same level -- both too high.

I saw the car pull into the drive, '69 or '70 model Cadillac Deville, looked factory-new. It pulled into the parking lot at a snail's pace.

An old woman got out so slow I thought she was paralyzed. She had a cane and a sheaf of flowers, about four or five bunches as best I could tell.

77.gif gifs- old woman image by shipka45

I couldn't help myself. The thought came unwanted, and left a slightly bitter taste: 'She's going to spend an hour, and for this old soldier...my hip hurts like hell and I'm ready to get out of here right now!'

But for this day my duty was to assist anyone coming in. Kevin would lock the 'In' gate and if.... I could just hurry the old biddy along, we might make the last half of happy hour at Smokey's.

I broke Post Attention. My hip made gritty noises when I took the first step and the pain went up a notch.

I must have made a real military sight; middle-aged man with a small pot-gut and half a limp, in Marine Full Dress Uniform, which had lost its razor crease about 30 minutes after I began the watch...at the cemetery.

I stopped in front of her, halfway up the walk. She looked up at me with an old woman's squint.

'Ma'am may I assist you in any way?' She took long enough to answer.

'Yes, son. Can you carry these flowers? I seem to be moving a tad slow these days.'

 'My pleasure Ma'am.'

Well, it wasn't too much of a lie.

She looked again. 'Marine, where were you stationed?

Vietnam, Ma'am. Ground-pounder. '69 to '71.'

She looked at me closer. 'Wounded in action, I see.  Well done, Marine, I'll be as quick as I can.'

I lied a little bigger, 'No hurry, Ma'am.'

She smiled............. and winked at me. 'Son, I'm 85-years old and I can tell a lie from a long way off. Let's get this done, might be the last time I can do this.

My name's Joanne Wieserman, and I've a few Marines I'd like to see one more time.'   'Yes, Ma'am, At your service.'

She headed for the World War I section, stopping at a stone. She picked one of the bunches out of my arm and laid it on top of the stone. She murmured something I couldn't quite make out.   The name on the marble was; Donald S. Davidson, USMC, France 1918.

She turned away and made a straight line for the World War II section, stopping at one stone. I saw a tear slowly tracking its way down her cheek. She put a bunch on a stone; the name was; Stephen X. Davidson, USMC, 1943.

She went up the row a ways and laid another bunch on a stone; Stanley J. Wieserman, USMC, 1944.

She paused for a second, 'Two more, son, and we'll be done'   I almost didn't say anything, but, 'Yes, Ma'am, Take your time.'

She looked confused. 'Where's the Vietnam section, son?

I seem to have lost my way.' I pointed with my chin. 'That way, Ma'am.' 'Oh!' she chuckled quietly. 'Son, me and old age ain't too friendly.'

She headed down the walk I'd pointed at. She stopped at a couple of stones before she found the ones she wanted.   She placed a bunch on Larry Wieserman, USMC, 1968, and the last one on Darrel Wieserman, USMC, 1970.

She stood there and murmured a few words...... I still couldn't make out.

'OK, son, I'm finished. Get me back to my car and you can go home.'   '

Yes, Ma'am. If I may ask, were those your kinfolk?'

She paused. 'Yes, Donald Davidson was my father; Stephen was my uncle; Stanley was my husband; Larry and Darrel were our sons. All killed in action, all Marines.'

She stopped, whether she had finished, or couldn't finish, I just don't know.   She made her way to her car, slowly, and painfully.

I waited for a polite distance to come between us....... and then double-timed it over to Kevin waiting by the car.

'Get to the 'Out'-gate QUICK!,

I have something I've JUST got to do.' Kevin started to say something, but saw the look I gave him.

He broke the rules to get us there down the service road.

We beat her.   She hadn't made it around the rotunda yet.   'Kevin............ stand to attention next to the gate post.

Follow my lead.' I humped it across the drive to the other post.   When the Cadillac came puttering around from the hedges and began the short straight traverse to the gate, I called in my best gunny's voice: 'TehenHut! Present Haaaarms!'

I have to hand it to Kevin, he never blinked an eye; full dress  attention and a salute that would make his DI proud.

She drove through that gate with two old worn-out soldiers giving her a send off she deserved, for service rendered to her country, and for knowing Duty, Honor and Sacrifice

I am not quite sure, but I think I saw............ a BIG salute returned from that Cadillac!

Instead of 'The End'.... just think of 'Taps'.

Please let me share a favorite prayer: 'Lord, keep our servicemen and women safe, whether they serve at home or overseas. Hold them in Your loving hands and protect them as they protect us.'   Let's all keep those currently serving and those who have gone before, in our thoughts. They are the reason for the many freedoms we enjoy.   'In God We Trust!'

Sorry about your monitor, it made mine blurry too!

I'm sure you might want to pass this one along to a few friends.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check Made payable to "The United States of America for an amount of "up to and including my life. That is Honor, and there are way too many people in This country who no longer understand it."

Dear Boss,

I have enjoyed working here these past several years. You have paid me very well, given me benefits beyond belief.

I have 3-4 months off per year and a pension plan that will pay my salary till the day I die and a health plan that most people can only dream about.

Despite this I plan to take the next 12-18 months to find a new position.

During this time I will show up for work when it is convenient.

In addition I fully expect to draw my full salary and all the other perks associated with my current job.

Oh yeah, if my search for this new job proves fruitless, I will be back with no loss in pay or status.

Before you say anything, remember that you have no choice in the matter.

I can and will do this.

                     Sincerely,

Every Senator or Congressman running for President.

Try that at your job and tell me how it works out.

But I love flower's bed's.

I went for a walk yesterday through the yard to see how everything is doing.

Thing's are reblooming. Bee's and butterfly's,Hummingbird are very busy. I hate the thought of cold weather and not seeing color in the yard.

This is the first year my hibicus has bloomed . Wgere we had them they didn't like it. So Truman dug it up few month's back and split it in half and replanted in flower bed. He did not realize that this plant get's big so we will probably have to move them next year or they will be out in the drive way. I really didn't think they would bloom this year transplanting them so late.

The veggie's aren't doing well, but the flower's are.

Inside are some more.

If you have any picture's of the flower's in your yard.

Go ahead and post them here.

Last weekend we had planned a surprise party for Harp's 50th Birthday,

I know Ron has done a blog on it. But I have some different thing's to add and just now have the time to do this.

As you know it started Friday with Ron and Suz coming down. Saturday Marley showed up .

It was hot but that is ok we dealt with it. We stiil enjoyed playing outside and inside with Ryan.

Suz got suckered into playing with him this time.

Whew I got a rest here and there.

I love the way he say's suz. It is just to darn special.

Quite a few showed up Sunday for Harp's party. Wish more could of made it.

I sent out invitation's early and even sent reminder's a few week's before.   But a few forgot about it.

I sent email's to people who I had email's on. I could not blog it as it was a surprise.

Oh well maybe we can all get together again soon with Harp..

Thing's get planned and thing's get  forgotten. Some where on vacation. But no harm done.

It was a great time. You all just missed it that  get to make it, But sure you enjoyed whatever you were doing Sunday.

Inside are some picture's and video's and you all know me I have to tell a story along with them.

So be patient ok.

Truman is one of these guy's that is alway's building something out of car/truck's. Whatever. He just love's getting an idea and going with it. In the end if it work's he is trilled. If it don't he try's something else.

He has built his own dump truck's big and small, Oh !  in the 42 year's I have been married to him he has come up with some doozie's.

But it help's keep his mind going and his hand's

2 year's ago he bought a ditch witch backhoe arm. Why who know's. He didn't want to fix it for the tractor as he would have to take it off and on to much.

So it layed down along the shed. Wait for some action.

1 year ago he bought an old pick up truck. Lightbulb went off. I am going to put that back hoe arm on that pickupp. So off and on for a year he has been cutting the frame down on that pickup and getting it ready for this backhoe.

Well today he got his lastpiece ready and it is time for him to get this arm over to were he can work with it ,to see what he has to do to get it to work.

It took him awhile but he finally got it chained ti the back of the pick up and over where he can have something to help lift it and stablize it so he don't get hurt.

So inside are some picture's of it today and when he get's it done and working I will post another blog. So you can see what it does.

Now mind ya it may take another year or two.

He only work's on it when he feel's like it or has the time.

To hot out there for me today but he has been working on this all day. But he might not get to touch it for another monrh or more.

He really is in his element when he can do stuff like this. But he scare's me silly. Getting to old for this.

Picture's inside

I know ya all get tired of hearing about this greatgrandson of our's (Ryan).

But he is just a blessing from heaven above.

All my family is no matter how honery they are.

Our greatgrand daughter  we don't see any at all. She will be 2 in August and we have seen her once. Her mommy and daddy just don't know what she is missing out on not being around us. But they are young and busy and have another one on the way. I believe a little boy this time. So they have their plate's full and we never know where they are living to go see them. I am sure she is as much fun as Ryan.

Today was a good day as Truman was home to play with Ryan also. Brenda is feeling better and walked down with him twice to get out of the house. As she had him while  his mommy and daddy went to that great ball game they had today.

So enjoy as we did. As this is one rotten kid and yes we did it.

OMG what fun today.

We picked Harp up at 9 and headed for the Villa.

On the way we stopped at a yard sale in Hillsboro. I had picked alot of stuff up for the auction were we having to raise money for wilky and his family and KKmom and her family.

Well Harp see this little kid's dish set and ask the lady how much it was. The lady said you can have it because it had  a broke piece. Harp said we can sell this at the benefit.

Well this wonderful lady said is this stuff for a benefit. I said yes it is. She said well you can have it all and even went in her home and brought more stuff out.

OMG! I thought for awhile we were going to have to make Harp walk .I didn't think we could get  it all in our car as it was pretty full from our stuff.

But we made it.

So, Thank You to the lady on Marywill Dr. in Hillsboro for that wonder thing she did to help us out.

I feel so bad as I did not get her name.

Inside are alot of picture's of the day.

We didn't sing alot or dance alot as this year we were on a mission to have fun and raise money to help 2 family's  out with whatever we could raise.

I myself think there was a pretty darn group of people there today.

Again, I thank for 2 for this blogging thing that brought  us all together .

Well I think we did great for no more that  was there.

Jana called me and said we raised $720.00 . So that $360.00 each for the family's we were there to help out.

We had several raffle's and a live auction. About time we started the live auction a storm came in and we had to move to the inside. I do believe Marley won the most stuff on her ticket's she bought.

Thank's everyone for your participation.

I was a fun and good day.

Ok let's get to the picture's and I have alot of them.

Everyone who has picture's can add them here or do you own blog. Don't matter.

I feel great just knowing we all pulled together and helped two family's and had so much fun doing it.

We all gotta do it if ya want tv they say.

7edff0b3.jpg picture by JEANETTE270

I commented on another blog but thought I would do a blog,

As I have some question's. I have done a search on my question's and come up with nope you can't tape from tv to vcr or dvd player unless you have cable or dish. As the vcr/dvd player's don't have the digital channel's.

We worked for a couple of hour's installing a converter to nabor's tv.

Well, only because we thought we were doing something wrong.

He only got channel 2.1. Great clear picture as channel 2 was crappy down here last two day's. But they want to watch more then channel two. I mean that would mean they would have to watch Mike and Juliette/ Ewww!!!

But after going through the menu on the converter we saw he only had 10 % antenna signal strength. But yet straight through antenna to tv he get's all channel's.

So we hooked his antenna back up and said we would take his other box and see how it work's on our's as we have a booster on our antenna.

2 minute hook up,scan station's and we have 50% signal and 13 station's. All really clear.

Channel two is just wonderful. So they will have to get  a booster or a smart antenna. Another cost to be able to  watch tv.

So I decided to check out for the vcr as I tape alot of show's and watch a different one while taping.

Well no channel 3 but I can get to the vcr menu for set up. Well no cable channel. In the research I have done. Nope vcr/dvd player will only be good for watching vcr or dvd.

Now that really suck's.

Is there a way for me to tape from tv to vcr through this box. That maybe they aren't telling??

If so please let me know. I need my fix of my weekly show's. Without having to have cable or dish.

One more thing.

I usually have tv on by my computer to hear the new's  and living room tv on same channel. When there is more than me at home. This morning when I did that the tv with the converter box was time delayed. I had already heard what Kevin and Margie was saying by time it came through on tv in there.Annoying but will mute mine when I have it on same channel until we get it hooked to box also.Waiting on our coupon's.

If ya have a fix for the vcr problem beside's dish/cable. Please let me know.

Thank's.
