Around 8 am this morning, Glen Carbon had some really heavy rain with thunder and lighting followed by a couple minutes of pea sized hail.

Rain switched to sleet around 8 am then continued until about 11. I had 1/10 inch of sleet before snow started. My final measurement this evening is 3.0 Not a bad storm. Brings my season total to 5.2 inches. Still 2.5 behind of last year. Maybe I'll catch up by the weekend.

Many people agree on a general 2-5 in the metro area. I'm still holding hope for 5 inches, but don't see it happening. We always find a way to end up with less than whats forcasted. The warm air seems to always win out longer than expected. I see a 2-4 for much of the stl downtown area and points east and west and north 30 miles. There will probably be some areas around 5+, but nothing widespread. There will be a sharp cutoff to the south of there. We won't see freezing rain in the morning. I don't see any frozen precip starting to fall after midnight Mon./Tues. By early afternoon tuesday we are left with light snow and flurries with gusty winds. I am just starting to learn reading the models and their biases so take this stab at what will happen however you want.

We recieved .2 inches of snow in Glen Carbon which bring total snow for this winter to 2.45 inches which isn't too far ahead of the 1 inch of ice we've have this winter. I hope February holds at least one 4-6 in. snow. I've only seen the ground covered once this winter and it was only for a few hours before it melted off.

It's Sunday morning and we're getting some really nice snow. It's currently 13.4 degrees. We've been getting light to moderate snow for 15 minutes and probably have 1/8 in. I love how snow stacks up so quickly when it's really cold. It's beautiful, but will only last a little longer.
Hopefully the late week/weekend storm verifies and we get some snow on the ground!
