I just thought I let you guys know that where the levee broke in Winfield was one of my favorite summer hangouts, which was my friends clubhouse. It was one of the first of four against that levee to get washed away. However not is all sad, because they were planning on tearing it down anyways. Now the only problem will be the gigantic hole where their club house used to be. I can't believe just a week ago that I was standing on that very same levee. We got every thing of value out of that clubhouse, and the great memeories of the all the fish we caught and the summer nights hanging out on the porch are still with me. Now all we can do is wait and see how the land has changed when the water recedes.
BTW, the two levee breaks washed the only access road to that area, so even when the water recedes it will be extremely hard for those with homes and property to reach them.
Also, the same levee broke in the 73 flood about 500 feet upstream from where it broke this time. There was also a lot od seep water coming through that levee as the river rose.
Hi, I am new here and I am in a bit of a pickle. I am currently writing a research project and am having trouble finding information for the climate of Missouri, and more specifically St. Louis and Kansas City, MO. It is for STATS class, which I am comparing the mean temp. and variance of the temps. Please offer any links or information you can. I already have some, but need a little more detailed information. Thanks again.
