Get gas now while you can, Mount Vernon just hit 6.00 a gallon and about 40 miles north of here in Gillespie it just hit 5.00. I'm sure those prices will hit here soon enough, at least by tomorrow even though I'd rather they not. But if anyone needs gas I suggest you get it now while its still at 4.00.

the feds are behind it all; they are lining their pockets...don't be fooled when they say they will investigate; that's just to ease your mind.

I agree with Sue, but the gov't and oil companies are just lining their pockets.

B8kedbeans, even if you have that festiva, you are still gonna have to pay big bucks to fill it. If you have a 14 gal. tank, its gonna cost around $65 to fill it.

Sue says gas at another local station is now at 4.49/gal. Her station is at 4.19/gal

TOTALLY REDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Make the poor pay more and the rich live better

(MY OPINION)

I think it all started with the great sugar shortage in the 60's. Since then everyone started having so called shortages in order to raise prices. The oil companies jumped on the bandwagon and have gone way overboard because no one in charge has the b*lls to do anything about it. Either fear of the oil companies or getting a piece of the action.

A time line since the posters here seem far more paranoid than intelligent.

Friday: Bloggers start posting, "OMG!!! Ike is coming!!", "It will destroy the oil fields !!11!!", "The gas prices are going through the roof1!!11!!!"

Friday night: Cars on Lindbergh backed up to the hwy 270, 55 interchange to get gas from Costco.

Saturday: Still lines. Prices at stations jump to 3.79 a gallon, still 3.47 at Costco.

Sunday: Still people getting gas, gas stations start to run out of all but premium gas.

Monday: Tankers show up to refill supplies at gas stations. The new supply of gas sold at a higher price.

When demand exceeds supply prices go up. Would you like to take a guess who made the prices go up? Having trouble? Go to your bathroom and look in the mirror.

Well I see the oil companies and politicians have you convinced. Sorry but I don't buy that. They use any and all the excuses they can think of except the real one. GREED!!

Dude it is all about greed but they can't sell the gas if people don't go running to the stations like sheep. I am sorry you don't have the intelligence to think for yourself.

If you have ten candy bars and people start saying that there will be a sharp rise in candy bar prices. You hold 10 of say 1000 candy bars in the area. People start running to the stores to buy what candy bars are left. Would you not charge more than what you paid for the candy bars? If you say no you are lying and if you say yes you are a hypocrite. I have never met a person who wouldn't sell a 1.00 candy bar for 10.00 if the market will bare.

Our little Cavalier has over 100,000 miles on it and it runs as good as the day we bought it new. I use only full synthetic Valvoline in it, put new high performance spark plugs, new ignition coil modules and she just skoots to the max. 4 cylinders ROCK. You can keep your dumb suv and you can pay at the pump for it too. 8 cylinders. HAH!
What a joke. No wonder I see them all over town with a big sign on them saying FOR SALE. Who is gonna buy it? No one, thats who. Thats like selling a deep freeze to an Eskimo. Not gonna do it. Not in this time factor. (Whatever that means)

It's now Tuesday, world oil prices have fallen to below $93 a barrel, and I'm just waiting for that "dependence on foreign oil" to make our gasoline prices drop like a rock.

Wha? It's not dropping? Still 3.73 this morning? Hmmmm - so much for yet another Republican excuse for their brethren running the oil companies.

I somewhat agree with "just_worried" about the effect paranoid consumers have on the price of gasoline, especially this weekend with the "$5 a gallon rumor". But all this shows is the American consumer will believe anything now, we are so used to getting it up the rear.

The bigger impact we consumers have on gasoline prices is when some of us still vote Republican and just don't seem to get the connection between Republicans, rich oil tycoons, and sky-high gasoline prices. Like some here who blame Obama? Grasping for straws, eh?

It's the American oil companies ripping us off with high prices and record profits, it's the Republicans condoning it, and it's the voters who let themselves be fools. Drilling in protected areas will lower gasoline prices - right. Sure it will. I guess just like those tax cuts created jobs. Don't buy it (no pun intended). If you don't like higher gasoline prices, then you shouldn't vote Republican. Bottom line, end of story. Period.
