Deb's thoughts

Obama says family is off limits, McCain said he knew Palin's daughter was pregnant.  Most people agree it is a non issue so why is the MEDIA making such an issue of it?

TO ALL NEWS MEDIA:  LEAVE IT ALONE, MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE.  THIS IS NO LONGER A NEWS STORY.

The minute something more sensationalistic comes along. Our media is more like British tabloids than news outlets anymore.

I think they are shifting our attention off of the real issues like;

Illegal's in the workforce.

or

Our dependence on foreign oil.

I think this is news. Not the biggest or most important story, but an item that should be discussed.

The reason is because I am quite CERTAIN that if this had been the Democratic VP candidate, it would be a completely different matter, but of course! I can hear the charges and the Rush attacks now: Just an example of liberal morals, a mother like this should not lead, what kind of an example are they setting, etc. etc.

But it's okay this time, because it is a conservative, "soccer mom" who loves to shoot high-power assault rifles and hunt cariboe. (Some "average soccer mom", eh?) The same examples of immorality the pathetic religious far-right hammers when liberals do it are just fine when it's good, clean hypocrites who do it!

Just like drug abuse - oh, imagine the outcry if Clinton's daughter had been caught obtaining illegal prescription drugs to abuse! But, it was so okay when the Bush daughters did it that it is essentially forgotten (well, I haven't forgot).

I agree with Obama that family should be off limits, and I am confident he will live by his word. The media shouldn't let us forget, however, that if this situation were reversed, I'm just as confident the right-wing religious extremists of the Republican party would be painting her as having too loose morals to lead the country. It is the Republicans who can never separate public from private lives (i.e. Clinton's famous BJ), so it is only fitting that this issue be brought to the forefront to expose yet another example of conservative hypocracy.

I agree the media should drop it. Its really none of our business. Sarah Palin can tell her daughter all the consequences of having sex but your daughter is 17 years old and knows what can happen you have sex. Just because her daughter is pregnant teen mother doesn't make Sarah a bad mother and doesn't make her daughter a bad person. She is not the first pregnant teen in this world.

i my self dont think its a big deal, after all obama was born when his mother was unmarried and 18, and look where he is now, i just think that the media reports the news, its their job, why is it so hard to understand for some people, that the medias going to report it if its news.

I agree Rosie its there job. But she also is 17 years old going thru this amazing time and yet a personal one in her life. Its been said now lets let it go. Again she is the first teen to have a child. Why is so big news that she is going to have one.

I agree with SikUvTheRite, as to his understanding of this issue.
It comes to prospective and judgment on the part of the people as they review Gov. Palin's ability as a parent and leader.
To turn a blind eye on this issue and say it is a non-issue. Then what of President Bush's daughters?, Clinton's BJ?
Judge not..less you be judged. The Republican Party would do well to listen to those words.

Had clintons daughter got in trouble the nation wouldn't have known anything about it. the liberal media would have seen to that!

Ther is a concerted effort on the part of some democraps to have Palin forced off the ticket. They will find out about why she was called Sarah 'the Baracuda' Palin.

funny how people like Right Moves always put a spin on it when the focus is on a conservative. Have you ever noticed how many conservative Republican talk shows stink up the airwaves every day? How is that for balance journalism. Gosh...Rush Limbaugh has made a living bashing the liberals every day of the week for years. So now when a Republican candidate is being scrutinized, they cry all day long. Know what? I couldn't care less about Palin having a pregnant daughter but there are a lot of other things that perhaps we should look at...like can a woman whose only experience is running a state for 18 months run the country should something happen to a 73 year old President. What are you all afraid of?

MrOpinionated, I understand what you are saying (does not mean I may agree with you).

Limbaugh, Riley, Hannity, Colmes, etc etc are not reporters or journalist. It is the News Media who are reporters or journalist I believe people have a problem with. Instead of being a reporter or journalist they are turning their jobs into opinionated commentatories in disguise.

Yes, Palin has 18 months experience running the State of Alaska but she has has been in political office for, I beleive, it has been 18 years and she could be President if McCain can not. Now please tell me what has Obama ran to make him more qualified. Please do not include the time being a Senator when he really was not in the Senate but running for President.

This is the most ridiculuous thing I have ever heard. If you are a republican all you can see is the bashing of the republicans. If you are a democrat all you see is the bashing of the democrats. There is plenty of bashing going on between both.
My personal opinion is to compare Clinton to Palin's daughter is silly. You are talking about something the president did and on the other hand something a VP candidate's DAUGHTER did. When you were 17 could your parents control everything you did? Mine couldn't. Does a poor choice on your part make your mom terrible? I think not.
Is it news? Yes, I think it is. I think we as voters deserve all the background we can have on our candidates. If they leave this out what else are they leaving out on all parties? I personally want to know everything I can know on all of them.
For the record, a pregnant kid will not make my mind up to whether she is qualified or not to be our VP.

The media won't let it go. They attack Palin unger the guise of being concerned about the vetting process. This is nonsense. We all know the media are a bunch of phonies. Vetting is for the Top of the ticket to do. It doesn't even matter. Ultimately, the American people will decide whether or not to vote for a candidate or not, regardless of the vetting process. I am becoming fighting angry at the treatment Palin is receiving from these Dem elitists. If Palin had come from Harvard or Stanford and been in the WASH inner circle for decades perhaps she would be accepted. Somehow, she's not qualified because she went to a state university and has been married for nearly 20 years to the same man. She's a working mom ,but because she is not an ivy league leftist she is not valid? Where are the feminists? Why are they allowing the media to go at Palin with such despicable obvious bias against her. People should take a look in the mirror, most of us have more in common with Palin than the ivy league elitists she is running against. Ask yourself if you would be accepted by these same media elites if you were invited to the party. I would urge every American to rise up and show the media your condemnation of their low tactics by voting for MC/Palin in November!

Angiewab...You don't need or deserve all information on these candidates. Some things are personal.
The liberal media is covering up many things about your messiah....crooks for friends...friends who hate America.....and I saw no press frenzi about obamers family of half brothers, maybe brothers, his unwed mother, or bis brother who lives in a hut.....Why do you suppose that is? And someone said the media covers both parties the same...Are you kidding me?

You need to wake up!

The last couple of months I have come to realize how blessed I am. I recently received a promotion at work, our company is for some strange reason, flourishing in this economical crisis, I received good news on the results of my MRI. I have been having strange headaches which they have now decided are Occipital Migraines. I really am blessed, I am in good health, my children and grandchildren are in good health, I have a job (these days that is the best blessing), a home, good friends, and food to eat. I am thankful for all these blessings. I am not trying to sound like I am bragging, I am truly thankful!
