Deb's thoughts

Can anyone explain to me why President Bush was at the Olympic? I can understand him being at the opening ceremony, but he stayed, and went to church!, and made a point of being interviewed while at a government sanction church service. Did you see how uncomfortable the person with him looked? I thought the Olympics were supposed to be as politically free as possible. Am I wrong? I thought he embarrased the Chinese and he embarrased me.

Downtowner, I read Patch Adams Blog, it was very interesting, thank you for directing me to it. I do know that politics have always been a part of the Olympics, but I always thought the athletes were the most important part and politics, while there, was or should be mostly in the background. When I watched the Olympics Sunday, everywhere I turned, there was President Bush. I felt like he was using the Olympics as some sort of political soap box. I guess I just felt that we were a guest in China, invited to show our athletes off and to enjoy the athletes of the other countries including China. I felt that for President Bush to go into their country under these circumstances and push his views was wrong and quite frankly rude. I understand him going to the opening ceremony, but I think he should have left after that, or just enjoyed the country and the Olympics.

What embarassed you the fact that he went to church? Or that he brought up human rights? If I had to sit in the seats that long I would be moving around also.

I just thought that he went there to watch the Olympics, not to push human rights, or religion.
There isn't anything wrong with him going to church, but it seemed to me that he went to push the religious issue and not to worship.

I may be wrong, but I don't remember seeing him photographed and interview in a church in any other country.

The last couple of months I have come to realize how blessed I am. I recently received a promotion at work, our company is for some strange reason, flourishing in this economical crisis, I received good news on the results of my MRI. I have been having strange headaches which they have now decided are Occipital Migraines. I really am blessed, I am in good health, my children and grandchildren are in good health, I have a job (these days that is the best blessing), a home, good friends, and food to eat. I am thankful for all these blessings. I am not trying to sound like I am bragging, I am truly thankful!
