Deb's thoughts

A St. Louis County lawmaker, who'd pushed for tougher punishment for sex offenders, is now accused of being a sex offender, himself. State Representative Scott Muschany was indicted in Cole County Wednesday.

The indictment accuses him of having "sexually deviant intercourse" with a minor on May 17, 2008.

He said the married father of two and his wife had also been foster parents. "They're as good of people as you know.  They've been fabulous, pillars...from fostering little babies to working hard in the church.  It's a shock.  We're all stunned."

The above was taken from the FOX 2 story on Mr. Muschany.

I heard a lot of people talking about how much he loved children, he and his wife were foster parents, he was active in church, in the school.  I don't know this man, I don't know the whole story, but I do know this:

Pedophiles (if he did this, he deserves this label), want to be around children,  they are the people who every one says "oh, I can't believe this, he loves children so much"  "He was so active in the church youth group"  or " He was always doing something with the kids"
Well, DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also know this:

Any woman with children of any age should NOT bring the man they are dating around the children until they have been dating for at least 6 months or more.  I will never understand why women meet a man and the next day or week, this man is in their house, and being left alone with their children.
Don't bring them around your children for lots of reasons:  you REALLY don't know them,  children attach easily, what happens 3 weeks later when you decide you don't want to see this guy any more?
Do YOU know his temper? What happens when the child does something and this man gets angry?  How many times when children are abused the abuser is the mother's boyfriend?
What are your children learning when in the course of 1 year you have brought 10 different men into the house?  There isn't anything wrong with dating, just realize what your children are seeing,  the mother of this teenage girl taught her daughter that it is ok to date a married man, I am sorry this happened to this young lady and I am not blaming any one except Mr Muschany, but why was he allowed to be alone with her?

Teenage girls are learning how to be women, they will do what they see.  Please, if you are a single parent and dating, keep your personal life separate from your family life, at least until you really know the person you are dating.

Children watch what you do much more than they listen to what you say,.

We are all role models.... Some not as good as others...... And yes trust is something you earn..... It should never just be given.... I aways tell the kids to never trust nobody completely.....

The only man I trusted my children alone with was their father.

The sad thing in molestation/rape charges are the alleged criminal is smeared in the paper while the supposed victim's name is left out.

I don't know the innocence or guilt of this man but do know the news media convicts after knowledge of such event. We need to wait this out and see if the person is convicted then castrate him.

I agree, and even if he is innocent, this is the way he will always be remembered.
My post wasn't written to slam him, my point is that women have a tendency to trust any man they date, with their children, he did have an affair with the mother of this child according to the report, and he isn't denying that.
If this sounds angry I'm sorry, I don't mean it to. Our children are so precious, we just need to be more careful of what we do and of the people we allow around our children.

I agree to all of this 100%. Never leave your kids with a stranger. Watch for signs of trouble.

I believe, we need to get an organization in here to advocate for these children who make these claims. There is a 96% chance, she is telling the truth.. Politics is a BAD WORD in these cases. I have about as much respect for politicians as I do these WORTHLESS local prosecutors. They want convictions to preserve their BAD NAMES at election time. They DO NOT care about your children. Jefferson County Mo local paper did a HUGE article on these so-called prosecuters. Even if they feel, these scums are guilty, they will NOT pursue them if they can't get any points out of it, fearing a jury trial will exonerate these twisted pieces of trash. Prosecuters will not try to convict any cases that may be of a challenge to them. I BET this guy will go free unless, this poor child can collect solid evidence against him.

I have seen both sides of this....its devastating to the child...when they are taken advantage of...it will stay with them forever never trusting anyone..haunting them.....also seen someone accused when he was later proven innocent...its awful, cause this man will always be seen as the abuser....ruining his life and reputation....its very sad when things like this happen....for a 14 year old(isnt that how old it said she is?) shes still a little girl...she SHOULD have been a virgin...even if she consented to it....its still RAPE....a 14 year old does not have the mental capacity to understand what intercourse is all about....a 14 year old shouldnt even have a first kiss yet..its saddening the more I think about this,..well I feel sorry for the child , no matter if its true or false.

ROLLERCOASTN747: I agree Politics is a bad word here, they will protect him. Prosecutors prosecute according to who the perpetrator is, where they came from, and how much money they have.
I hope this man will be given a jury trial. I hope we will find out what happened here, there is even the possibility that the mother did this to get back at him; maybe he was trying to end the relationship. I hope that is not the case, I can't imagine a woman putting her child through something like that for a lie.

HOPEFORSTL: Fortunately I have not seen both sides of this, but I agree with what you say. If this is true, he has damaged this child's soul and that is a terrible thing.
If it is not true, then this has damaged his reputation, probably his marriage and also his children and their relationship with their father.
I feel sorry for everyone involved in this story.
We just need to slow down and think about what we do and what the consequences will be.

JUSTCURIOUS49: Now we have another one, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder's former chief of Chief of
Staff, Eric Feltner pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge: A probable cause statement filed in May by police says Feltner believed he was contacting a 13-year-old girl over the Internet, but that person really was an undercover officer. Feltner was accused of graphically discussing masturbation and sexual stimulation in the written Internet messages.
(that was taken from a story on another news site).

Are we just hearing about this type of thing more? What is the attraction some men have to young girls? I wonder how man

Sorry I was cut off. To finish my sentence, I wonder how many of these men do things like this on the internet and they are actually talking to their own daughters?
I don't have any young children at home, but if I did, I would be terrified to allow them to use the computer.

I don't find anything at all sexually attractive about young boys. Is there something wrong with me?

TO EVERYONE THAT SAW THE STRANGE POSTS ON HERE AWHILE AGO, WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK I HAD AN E-MAIL FROM THE WEB PRODUCER, SHE DELETED THE COMMENTS, AND DISABLED HIS ACCOUNT. I WAS ASKED TO LET THEM KNOW IF I HEARD FROM ANYONE SOUNDING LIKE HIM, OR THREATENING ANYONE, AND I WILL PASS THAT MESSAGE ON.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK JILL FOR TAKING THE POSTS OFF HERE AND FOR RESPONDING.

Let's get back to blogging!

Even though those "wierd" posts were removed Jill and Fox 2 need to retain our right of "Freedom of Speech". In this instance, deleting was the easy way out and probably the most educated one too.

When you see folks like that it somewhat makes you wonder who they really are. I was amazed at the attitude the person had towards the Fox 2 person.

Glad those comments are gone.

Yah, it was a bit scary especially the last one he left. I hope it was just posting and that this person wasn't serious. He seemed to know a lot about that employee, almost like he was stalking him. I have the feeling that Fox 2 is taking them seriously. I'm glad I reported them and didn't just delete them myself.

I'm glad they are gone too.

The last couple of months I have come to realize how blessed I am. I recently received a promotion at work, our company is for some strange reason, flourishing in this economical crisis, I received good news on the results of my MRI. I have been having strange headaches which they have now decided are Occipital Migraines. I really am blessed, I am in good health, my children and grandchildren are in good health, I have a job (these days that is the best blessing), a home, good friends, and food to eat. I am thankful for all these blessings. I am not trying to sound like I am bragging, I am truly thankful!
