Your second amendment right is once again under attack by the liberal anti-gun media and politicians.  The tragedy in VT this week fired up the debate over gun ownership in America.  There seems to be an endless stream of anti-gun rhetoric and dramatizations including Fox 2’s Charles Jaco and K-Hits’ JC Corcoran.

Liberals will strongly defend the other amendments in the Bill of Rights:  Free speech, Unreasonable Searches, Due Process, Speedy Trial, Trial by Jury, Cruel and Unusual Punishment, etc.  So why do they deem the second amendment as subject to restriction or termination?

The National Rifle Association fights to keep your second amendment right in place. They’ve been successful so far, but the anti-gun hysteria this week is evidence of how their efforts are needed more than ever.  The NRA despises criminals with guns but diligently fights to defend the right of legal citizens to keep and bear arms.

I renewed my NRA membership at the convention this past weekend.  I encourage others to renew theirs or join the NRA and support their defense of your second amendment rights.  You can find them at www.nra.org.

You have to wonder if it was the witnesses detailed descriptions of the cold blooded murder of a Sgt. William McEntee, or simply Kevin Johnson’s own confession before the jury on Saturday that may have clouded their judgment.

Our legal system is a joke.  Modern day jury’s are a pathetic example of justice.

Where is Madbear when you need him?

It’s my opinion most smokers are in denial and/or hypocrites.  They insist they have the “right” to violate the airspace of others while also admitting their habit is harmful.  So, in effect, they claim to have the right to harm others?

Recently, this issue was debated with regard to the proposed bill in Illinois to fine parents who smoke in a car with their children. Sadly, smokers still argued for the right to contaminate the airspace of their children.

This habit has been medically proven to be poisonous and hazardous to a smokers’ health and the health of others who inhale their smoke.  So, why do smokers continue to fight for it?  Because it’s an addiction.  Most addicts rationalize their vice and deny its true harm to themselves or others.

Why do non-smokers continue to complain?  For starters, because we have the right to breath clean air without having to relocate every time a smoker arrives in a room or in close proximity, even outdoors. Smokers deny this right exists.

We also resent the fact a tobacco smokers’ ill habit costs all of us money.  Our taxes fund smoking related health issues of the poor.  In addition, our insurance premiums continue to climb to cover the costs of smoking related health issues for insured smokers.

Finally, isn’t anyone else sickened by the politics that keep this harmful addiction alive?  Use of tobacco products has been medically proven unsafe, yet it continues to be legal. Why?  Do you really think the minority base of smokers have any legitimate political power?  No.  Instead, politicians are influenced by tobacco industry lobbyist fighting to keep the product they represent legal.  These politicians put money and their political careers ahead of public health.

The recent surge in anti-smoking legislation is directly related to the exposure of formerly illegal and politically suppressed information regarding tobacco products and their industry. However, the death of this product has been very slow due to tobacco industry spending to keep it alive. While its’ users get sick and die.

Support my opinion or not, I welcome feedback from anyone on this topic.

For those who comment, I ask that you try to keep this blog on topic and not simply deflect the dialog onto other social ills in an attempt to make smoking look less harmful when compared.  We know the world is full of social health problems and smoking tobacco is only one of them.  But it is the topic of this blog.

Senator Barack Obama is seen here protecting innocent drivers by keeping a known alcoholic and drunk driver occupied at a recent congressional assembly. :-)

Seriously, do you think Senator Obama is schmoozing Democratic old guard elders such as Ted Kennedy to gain their support for a 2008 presidential bid? Do you think this hurts his “new and progressive” appeal?

President George W. Bush is a leader. Despite pressure by Democrats, low opinion polls, and struggles both at home and abroad, President Bush stood tall tonight and delivered an excellent State of the Union address.

Hopefully his message of bipartisan cooperation will encourage congress to work together and stop tossing jabs across the isle. The fun of November's election is over, they need to get to work.

What did you think of the address?

I think 24 is one of the best shows on TV. Even in it’s 6th season it’s still exciting to watch.

What do you think?

So do you think these so called leaders are simply creating turmoil in an attempt to increase oil prices and line their pockets? Or do they have other motives?

Do you think Iran is a threat to the US? What about Venezuela?

What are your thoughts on Hillary Clinton for President in 2008? What kind of job do you think she would do for us? Do you think she'll actually win?
