Obama claimed last Friday that "the statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity." Obama then said on Tuesday that "Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes."

The comments he is referring to were from the now infamous YouTube videos of him about damning America and that the HIV virus was invented to wipe out blacks and so forth.

People are trying to say that Obama is lying because last week he said he had never heard such controversial statements from Wright before, and then said Tuesday he has heard controversial remarks from Wright before.

How is that lying?  Those are just two different facts:

1)  Obama has never heard Wright make statements like the ones in the YouTube Videos

2) Obama, however, has heard controversial things from Wright before.

Just because he heard the reverend make controversial statements, doesn’t mean those exact statements are the ones displayed in the YouTube videos. Obviously these videos represent the worst the pastor has said, considering why they’re viewed so much now.

Quit trying to nitpick...

So being right wing, how did you feel when Bush was buddied up with the Bin Laden family after 9/11?

Obviously people are who they are because of who they hang with right? Pfft, not!

My roommate is a republican and I am far from being one of those people.

20 years of listening to your mentor racist. Like I said, hate my Country, I hate you! Good Luck with the Black House idea. Dems are falling apart, watch and see.

Hey, nice job avoiding the question. That's pretty typical of right-wing nutjobs such as yourself.

And I don't know what that Black House comment refers to. Maybe you should be a little less crazy...

Or do you favor the government controls? The recent one in Illinois must have made you happy? The smoking ban?

I am not a liberal. I do not have a label. I am simply a free thinker. I see what goes on in the world and I make an opinion. I disagree with most of what the GOP party says, mostly because they have moronic views on things like being against gay marriage and abortion. I'm not big on democrats raising taxes or supporting illegal immigrants from taking over our jobs.

The smoking ban is not even really a ban is it? Nobody can get arrested or ticketed from it because they didn't indicate when the law was made how to enforce it. I only support it because I hate smoking period.

Well I am not sure if the comments are being deleted by you or a Fox2 problem. Let me give a point of view and I will go away. The Democrats imposed the smoking ban law on small business owners. Family owned business owners are closing their business and have lost everything. People that want to stop smoking, or drinking, or any other of the evils of the world, have a long way to go. Republicans and Conservatives see this ban as more control over business owners and an attack from the Liberal Democrats. This is Obama country and he will bring this type of control to other parts of Government. As a voter flip flops over issues, remember who gets hurt. There is no such thing as a conservative democrat. iT IS A Two party system, Liberal Democrat or Conservative Republican. VOTE REPUBLICAN

Obama is taking a hit in the polls over this J. Wright issue. I do not find BO credible in this situation, because Rev Wright had a reputation in Chicago as a black racist and hate monger. You really have 2 options here: either BO is stupid or he is a liar.

I can honestly say that if I disagree with my Church over serious matters, I would walk away. I believe most people of character would do the same. There is no excuse for Wrights comments and behavior. There is no spin that can justify his comments/behavior.

I am a staunch conservative, and I can see that the liberal media is having difficulty covering for BO, in this situation. BO has never been vetted, and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

On another note it is obvious that the Democratic Party is self destructing. Neither candidate will have enough pledged delegates for the nomination. When the so called "Superdelegates" decide on a candidate it will fracture the party. Looks like a fight on the convention floor, and a McCain victory.
I do support operation chaos, where Republicans cross over and vote for Hillary in the remaining primary states. The longer this Democratic fighting goes the better it is for the Republicans.

The white people have been trying for years to mend this race thing. I've seen people go out of their way to try to connect with another of color.

While white people have been trying to connect black churches have been spewing out racist comments and hating America.

Guess what???? Some of the children there may be paying attention to what Wright was saying.

I think anyone who hates America should simply move to another country instead of staying here and causing trouble.

We need to see how many young black people causing trouble in schools, malls, and end up in prison believed Wrights channel of thought.

England and other countries have all races, but they do not have the crime that we have. Could the preachers be the butt of this.

Dawg---To be a free thinker you have to consider all sides of a question.--Back to the subject of your blog about Obama'spreacher man.Rev.Wright is not an aquantence he just hears on Sunday. Rev.Wright is Obama's friend, mentor, teacher, and,a member of Obama's political family.Rev.Wright is a potential member of Obama's cabinate. With this in mind,go back through his speach and see if maybe you can't find 1 or 2 little white lies.

KDubken... I know exactly what Wright said in his speech. I know who Wright is to Obama. And I do take all sides of the question. So maybe when you stop assuming everyone around you is ignorant, come back and talk to me. For now, you're just a sickening Republican.

ANOM... this notion of "leave the country if you don't like it" is getting SO old! Bush's administration has sent this country into a recession. Do you know what that is? Based on your grammar skills, I can bet you don't know a whole lot about anything.

A recession is when the economy goes in the shitter for two successive quarters of a year.

So tell me how any average American could afford to move to another country? tell me how that is a logical idea. I know you're not logical. You're just spouting the same crap the GOP party has been brainwashing people with for years.

Dawgma08 - do tell me.....are you one of those History majors who sit around in coffeehouses and discuss amongst your friends that if the world would only listen to you that you would make things perfect?

I had one of those as a roomate in college - they went on to become attorneys who have gotten us mired even further in the mud than we were then.

Do you actually believe Obama has never heard Rev.Wright Damn America before? Do you think Rev. Wright would be a good cabinate member? Is this the kind of trash you want to run the country. Do you want me to print your answer before you do. Ya free thinking guy ya.

Obama's speech, I thought, was great. I was ready to vote for him until he reminded me he would, Cut & Run, still favor abortion, and Gay rights(whatever that is). But don't you love a good speech?

There's no need to reply to any of the other crap on here. All I see is a bunch of typical GOP propaganda. I know Obama isn't perfect. It's hard telling if he'd be a better president than Hillary. McCain is a potential president who is destined to fail just like his mirror image, George Bush.

But I am smart enough to think for myself and not let a party decide for me who would be a great president.

I am the anti-shy! I say things exactly how I see them and it is impossible for me to sugar coat things. I have been called an a-hole on a regular basis the past 10 years or so. Keeping things brutally honest is the only route to go, in my opinion. So what's up? ;^)
