Kids-TV-Now in shopping carts!

Good Idea or bad. I mean they say don’t let you child watch more then 20 mins of tv a day.  But they put TV in cars now. It is every place you go & most places you have control of what is the boob tube. I feel putting the TV is the shopping cart might help some parents who can’t tell their kids NO! Although I don’t see it helping parents who do limit TV time & keep their in check.   I feel the store who is doing this is looking out for themselves  more then wanting to please children or help some parents.  By getting these carts for them the toy department of the store just might stay a bit more cleaner without uncontrolled children running around with or without parents around them.

I feel it is sad that some parents do let their young kids run wild in a store & when they get told NO & the child goes into a fit to get their way.

I feel if the store wants to help keep unruled children under control while parents shop.

They should open a small corner in the store where kids can play, learn, Have interaction with other kids.

I saw this story too. Sad. The child can't behave in a store? Just another way to allow parents not to do their jobs.

why should it be the stores responsibility to keep the children under control? I thought that was what parents were supposed to do.

How in the world did parents from my generation control us and how did I manage to make my kids behave in public without all these new gadgets. Parents, put some effort into it. It is your job!

right but if the parents don't do their job & the store what all the child who visit the store to be under control they feel they should take a step up but TV! myself as a parent I have my kids under control. They list or else they wont get to go outside & play with friends when we get home. If my daughter starts getting to grabby in the store she wont get anything. She knows to get a treat from us she has to be good & behave But lets face it not all parents are this way. Some ppl think their kids do no wrong & don't care about other shoppers.
Don't you wish you could change some parents. I think If I could their would be a lot more children would have a happier childhood.

It seems everyday we make it easier and easier for parents to not actually act like parents.

A TV in a shopping cart is one step forward for technology and one big step back in parenting.

Unbelievable! I can only just shake my head. TVs/DVD players in your vehicle were bad enough.

normally i am disgusted by the parents and kids of nowadays, and the technology we have as well. But, i really dont think this is a bad idea. the car tvs are stupid no doubt. but the shopping cart idea is a good one. im not even sure why this doesnt bother me, normally it would, i swear lol.

I think it depends on what is on those TVs. My great nephews love their portable DVD player, but that is because Mom and Dad provide very specific material for them to view. My 2 year old great nephew sings and dances to songs that teach. Additionally, they love the technology based toys that teach. Not only are both boys 2 and 1 speaking using sign language, but also learning things that were not taught until late preschool.

Use the tools, but use them the right way.

who should supervise this little corner in the store where kids can play, learn, and interact with other kids?

the parent (or parents, if they are together) should be teaching the child/children how to shop....reading labels, checking weights of one product with a like product to find the best bargain

this shopping should be a learning experience...lots of math, reading skills involved (assuming the parents can read)..being sarcastic here

children misbehave when they aren't involved..when it seems that they have nothing to do with the experience of shopping

make them a part of it and they will become better behaved little citizens...let them help with some decision-making

life is not entertainment although it's often entertaining

Who had this dumb idea?

Who will pay for this little corner in the store? You know who.....we will with higher prices because they will have to hire someone to watch the kids. Or do you think kids will play and learn without supervision?

Who will pay for the cart TVs? Yep, higher groceries.

See? Cheaper for all of us if parents teach their kids how to behave!!!

C'mon people, read the actual post please! We are talking about "in the SHOPPING CARTS" not in some little corner of the store. Sheesh, perhaps before you sound off and attack a concept you could at least take time to become educated regarding the topic.

corner in the store was just a thought of mine not a well planned thought just saying compared to have a TV baby sit our kids while we shop is not a great idea to me. it was not meant as that is a better idea just another way of saying hey Parents if you can't control kids while shopping get a sitter to stay home with them or just don't have them!

Lady ty for coming to my ad. Although I do disagree with some of your our look on this TV car cart idea. While you right about the depends on what will be played on them. I don't depends on high tech some to teach my child although she can run a computer better then some adults I know. But I feel it is the time the parents spend teaching the kids. Nothing in my books can compare to the family time, love shared, & moments to keep ya for a life!
some one will make some good money on the idea.

DieselDuck The Only & I mean Only thing in your commit that I agreed with was We will pay. Read up like Lady said & you just get what was really said!

daughter....when I said 'dumb idea' I meant the TV in the carts thing, not you and now that I read over what I wrote, it sure doesn't make it clear just what I was referring to.

Sorry...you have a nice blog and like I said, now that I read over my comment, it sure seems like an attack....I apologize

DieselDuck, Thank you very much. No harm down thanks. This TV thing I mean what is the one thing in the world they say to monitor your kids on ? TV so why let these big stores make is to easy for these kids to see. & Harder on the parents who do monitor TV time!

I decided to chime because I'm a single mom of a very spirited 3 year old. And sometimes, no matter how I try to get him to behave at home and outside, it doesn't always work. Now, don't get me wrong, he is not out of control by any means, but he does get excited when we go out. So I've learned to adjust.
Part of that means I take a portable DVD player with me if I know I'm going to be out long. When he starts to get restless in the grocery story, I sit him in the cart and pop in baby einstiens or Elmo's World. Usually something that promotes learning. Then I know that I should step up whatever it is I'm doing.
We have to remember that children, under 5, are still children. If someone was dragging you around by the hand to a bunch of places you probably can't have any fun or playtime in, I think you'd be a little cranky after the first hour or so too.
