Barack Obama made a promise.
Last year before the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Barack Obama told pro-abortion activists:

"The first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act."

Hi all,

This is an opportunity to sign a petition to fight FOCA (Freedom of Choice
Act). If we don't fight this 25 years of Pro-Life action could go down the
drain. Click on the address below.

The myths of Papal Infallibility. Some people seem to think or are misled into believing that every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Holy Father, must be believed to be 'absolute' by the catholic faithful. The dogmatic teaching of papal infallibility is actually very restricted and at the same time restricting. For it to be an 'Infallible teaching of the Catholic Faith' there are conditions that must be met: 1.It must be concerning the faith or moral teaching of the faith. 2. It must be proclaimed to be a statement,  'ex cathedra', from the Chair of Peter. The last statement made 'ex cathedra' has even raised some debate, 'Was it?, as some say, or some say, "No. He didn't say so." When John Paul II, stated as the leader of the Church of Rome, that the the debate is over and closed, whether or not women would be admitted to the priesthood. I watched a broadcast of him making the statement, and I thought he made it 'ex cathedra'. Others say he didn't, exactly. Of course those who debate it, want women in the priesthood. So why do the 'rules ' or 'laws' of the church change? Because the world changes. The changes made are sometimes really trivial and other times seem dramatic.

The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility comes from the same place as the Doctrine of Authority. Jesus Christ. He authorized Peter to carry the keys (of authority, like that of the Prime Minister of a Kingdom), and he was told that what he ' bind on earth will be bound in heaven  and what he loosed on earth will be loosed in heaven.'

Christ also told the Apostles he would send them 'the Paraclete' who would guide them in all things, and that he would be with His church even until the end of time. This protects the Pope from teaching heresy. It does not prevent him from making human mistakes, he is a sinner and is first to admit it, for we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. It does not make him a scientist, to decide if the earth revolves around the sun, or vice versa, the arguements against Galileo were not his findings in science but his extrapilation of science contradicting the Scriptures about the Creation.

A Dogmatic statement is usually not issued unless a long held doctrine comes under attack and it becomes necessary for the good of the flock that the Authority of the Church be brought to bear on a particular subject.

Many of you may wonder why, others just say 'Here he goes again.'

It seems the only politically correct form of bigotry anymore is saying anything you want to condemn the Catholic Church.  You've probably heard that Fulton Sheen said there are millions of Christians who hate the Catholic Church for what they think the Church believes in, but only a few who hate it for what it truly believes.

I'm going to write this without the references, the  Bible quotes, Catechism, or History books, because the research seems to interupt the flow of thoughts from my heart. I sometimes think I've heard it all when I hear the things people say about the Church, but it amazes me when I see how new twists are brought up on old lies and stories. I'll take them one at a time.

Lie 1:

'Catholics don't read the Bible.'  I think this lie grows in popularity everytime a kid drives by with his family to the local protestant church and sees a group going into the Catholic Church 'Hey mommy where are they going ? They can't be going to church,  none of them are carrying their Bibles.'  'Catholics don't use the Bible in Church.'

Truth: Yes we read the Bible, at home,  in Bible studies, some even carry the little NT versions with the Pslams for reading when they have an unexpected wait. In church we use a book, called a missal which has the readings from the Bible in it for each Sunday, as well as the prayers and some songs, and the Psalms verses which are read at daily masses.  The readings on Sunday are normally 1. an OT reading , 2. a selection from Psalms, 3. an Epistle reading, and, 4. a Gospel reading.  Mostly they are all related to a specific teaching. Last Thursday for example, the OT reading was the eating of the Passover lamb in Exodus, The teaching of Paul from Corinthians, that the Lord had given at the Last Supper about the new covenant , and the Last Supper from John's gospel.  The Priest or Deacon then gives a Homily or Sermon on the relationship of the readings and their relative lesson in our lives today. Over a three year period, if you attend daily Mass, you will hear almost the entire Bible, certainly from every book, and have it related to your life today. If you don't listen, like a good many children don't, you won't notice and you'll grow a hunger for scripture, if you listen and study with your heart, the words you heard,  there is enough to learn each day for certain. Sometimes, it might take years. I know I'm still hearing new things, that were always there but somehow overlooked, or didn't seem pertinent at the time I first heard them.

Long blogs are tiring. I'll come back with #2 later. God Bless you, all. I'll welcome questions.

Dan

April, I've head it a couple of times this morning that these women are Roman Catholic priest. If you check with any authority of the Roman Catholic Church you will see your information is incorrect at best. It doesn't even make any difference which women you might ever talk about, if they claim to be Roman Catholic Priest, check with the Archbishop, he will tell you their status in the church.

If I said I was the King of Ireland I'm sure you would want to know by whose authority I say this, and in checking you would say I overstated my position.

Authority in the Roman Catholic Church is the issue here as well, The priests doesn't have it, the women don't have it, and the parishioners of St. Stanislaus don't either. Don't believe me.  Ask Archbishop Burke or the Pope.
