Gray Skies Are Gonna Clear Up....!

Over the weekend I caught the new film, "Shine a Light," the documentary/concert movie about the Rolling Stones. Going into the theater, I had four decades of expectations. When I left the theater, I felt the same way about the Stones as I did when I was in high school. Arguably, they are the world's greatest rock & roll band. (Maybe the world's oldest rock & roll band as well.)
Mick Jagger

The Stones have gone from bad boys to grandpas not as survivors of rock but as performers who love what they do....and are still doing in their 60s!

Sure, Keith Richards looks like a skeleton wearing eyeliner and Mick Jagger has deep creases all over his face but they are vigorous, energetic, entertaining and they put on a terrific show. Jagger is going to be 65 later this year and he moves around the stage like a 17 year old!

If you’re a Stones fan you will love it. Even if you are not, it’s still a fascinating glimpse into the lives of one of rock's most enduring acts. The group's unsavory reputation and drug arrests are mentioned in the film.

Mick and the Boys are still controversial. A conflict erupted as I was leaving the theater. I heard a man about 50 years old say to his wife, "They're still not better than the Beatles." She then unloaded a string of expletives and said he was stupid and didn't know what he was talking about.

The Rolling Stones still have what it takes!

Look how young they looked!! Good review of the show Dan. Makes me want to see it now. That's kind of funny that the show caused a marital dispute to happen with the couple walking out arguing!! I felt a little sorry for the man....just voicing his opinion, I guess!

My favorite song by the Stones was not really even a hit...... I model a lot of things in my life around the song.......

It's called "Dead Flowers"

I have to agree with mr_wild. Dead Flowers is the best song they ever sang. That whole album Sticky Fingers is great. I had a chance 25+ years ago to see them from the 17th row at Kiel Opera house. I let a friend of mine go instead because he was a bigger fan then I was. Thanks for the review. Think i'll check it out if I get a chance.

Had comps to their Steel Wheels tour around '90 at Busch. The seats were nowhere near the stage, but the stage production was SO huge,- missed little. Also Keith at the "Hail Hail Rock n'Roll" documentary filming/concert at the Fox...Looking forward to this movie! Tell Glenn to give away some tickets on his morning music blog -lol!

I am not much into rock and roll but I tend to agree with you they are the best, Dan.

I guess I am not much into music. I love Elvis Presley lol. I am into more country like Tim McGraw and Josh Turner. Most of my music is songs written by my brother who passed away last year.

I still have thier first lp on vinyl. Just played it 2 weeks ago when going through my old LPs. Grew up on that, the Beatles, Chuck Berry, and many other bands of that era as my father played their cover tunes in his band when I was a kid.

"Sure, Keith Richards looks like a skeleton wearing eyeliner" -- isn't that the truth! And that photo of Mick rivals the image of the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz.

But what a group! What energy! And the longevity of both!
