Guilty as charged here.  Worked 24 years in a fairly prestigious position, at a local multi-billion $  company.  Then lost the job, a marriage, nice house (now in a mobile home) along with a  physical setback while finishing up a  trade college diploma all at about the same time. Worked as an insurance consultant 9 months until getting laid off for lack of  business. OK-I'm now at your friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart as a temp set-up associate through the summer to transform it into a supercenter.  (Hey-it's a job) It's been almost 2 months and still having a hard time to admit it to most people.  Several times have seen persons shopping have known for  years and would have liked to say "Hi", but ducked to avoid contact because of embarrassment....wrong or right?  btw, was awarded "Associate of the Week"  in our dept. today, so  is that really even worth mentioning...because it IS "just" Wal-Mart"?

Just wal mart hey that is like saying just a mom? come on that is good honest work. . It is better then some of the "just" other place's. Why are you embarrassed? I would be more embarrased standing on a street corner where people I knew could see me. I see alot of my old co-worker's from the factory working at walmart, goodwill store or gas station. Quit being snotty girl and be proud you have a job.

I heard that your nose is so far in the air that if you got caught in the rain you would probably drown.....lol

I worked at the Health and Beauty aids counter at Venture when I was young.... I got to flirt with all the girls.....

Don't fret it..... I heard there was a hottie working at walmart so now I know who it is....

One thing is for certain-the personnel is the most down-to-earth group of people and I've made many new friends. Another good thing is that it involves working in nearly all of the departments (breaking down old displays and shelving, building new ones, moving stuff), and can get familiar how each operates as well as getting to know the various managers. This will help if I decide to apply for a permanent position.
Thanks, guys for the encouragement!!!

Shoot Cricky, If I'd seen you yesterday morning, I would have asked you where the kleenex and paper plates were. I felt like I walked a mile in that store looking for them. Lol! I finally found an associate over in the pots and pans, and when I asked her, she said over on the other side of the women's clothes.
WHAT???? I had just came from there, but evidently, I didn't go far enough. LOL! I usually go in there on Friday mornings and every week, has been an adventure. I think you should apply for a permanent position. Their going to need all the help they can get when they open the grocery side. And yes, there are alot of nice people working there.

Cricky....you have nothing to be ashamed of, sweety. You are providing for your family and taking care of those you love. Congrats on the award. You are such a neat person, and I'm so glad they recognized you for it. Hold your head high, my dear. Love you!!
