STL:

First off I hate when I am inaccurate on air and when I am (which is often) I like to correct my mistakes.  Today, during a six o'clock live shot I said Jason Motte made his MLB debut on Tuesday ... when it was actually on Wednesday ... My Bad!

Anyway, what do you guys think of Motte?  Throws 98 mph ... that always helps.  Converted catcher really still learning how to be a pitcher ... Interviewed him today for the first time ... seems like a real down to earth guy ...

Peace,

Charlie Marlow

Motte is a young strong hurler that will learn that 98 is ok, some of the time. Oh yeah, he's your age!

He'll be a great addition to the reliever positions but probably needs more grooming to become a closer. Perez tosses just a bit slower but does have more movement - so he'd be my first choice.

The Cardinals' problems stem from each gear not doing its job. Remember, hitting creates runs (not just 1 run) and poor pitching decisions creates runs (for opponents). When these two are combined you get a LOSS.

Since it's all over for the Cards they need to do as the Braves are doing - pretend like it's spring training and the young ones are fighting for their jobs.

Speedy:

By the way, I wrote that post before Motte got roughed up a bit in the 11th last night ...

Always appreciate the comments!

Ok Chas what's your prediction for this Cubs/Cards series? I predicted we'd take 2 out 3 winning the first one by a score of 7-6 in extras. I am hoping that we go ahead and break the 3-3 tie in the bottom of the 9th.

Houston is the team with all the momentum and by the weekend they'll be knocking on the Brewers door for the Wild Card.
