STL:

The Major League Baseball trading deadline is 5 days away and today (Saturday) the Cardinals started (and hopefully didn't finish) their wheeling and dealing.  The Cards sent 2006 World Series hero Anthony Reyes, who seemed to have a box seat in the LaRussa - Duncan doghouse, to the Indians for 24-year old reliever Luis Perdomo.  Perdomo, a righthander, has really good numbers in the minors this season: 3-1, 0.92, 18 saves in A ball & 2-0, 3.52, 1 save at AA.  I don't know enough about him to say he'll be called up to the big club or not.  But, at this point with the Cards bullpen giving away leads like Christmas presents, why not give the guy a shot?

I also wonder if this deal was more about getting Perdomo or getting rid of Reyes.  Two years ago the Cards could've gotten a lot more for Reyes, and he really didn't seem to fit in with the Cards philospohy: pitching to contact, stressing movement over velocity and strikeouts.

Either way, I'm just happy they did something.  But, I still think they should make a deal to bring a player to the big league club.  Even if it's not a blockbuster guy, it'll send the message to players and fans that we're still trying to win in '08---when we still have a good chance, without mortgaging the franchises future.

What do you all think?  Who would you like to see in a Cards uniform?  Who would you like to see out of a Cards uniform?  I want to hear from you.

See ya,

Charlie Marlow

Hi Charlie,

I saw you on tv at the pizza spot. Sounds like you guys had fun.

Anyway, I have a comment here and I don't want you to take it the wrong way. I'm not making fun of you. I just think the truth sometimes comes out of the mouth of children.

Have you seen Sesame Street lately? I was flipping throught the TV channels and was pleasantly surprised when I passed through the PBS channels, to hear a spin off of the tv show Deal or No Deal on Sesame. It was a riot.

It was called.....

"Meal or No meal" Since I am a fan of the TV show Deal or No Deal on occasion, I laughed when i heard the muppets takeoff on the show. It was hysterical.

The bottom line was this.

"Meal or No Meal"

"The Baker has an offer....."

And if that doesn't make you laugh, you can always turn the channel to Mr. Rogers where you will find Fred Rogers swinging his golf club with Mr. McFeely.

Take care and good luck.
