We felt it this morning in Winfield, MO. My husband woke up and asked me if I could hear "the noise"... it was our mini blinds flowing back and forth and tinking against the window frame. I almost said, "I bet it's an earthquake" but I was too tired and we fell back to sleep.

Cutter....yes we do...the experts say because they are hard rock mines it is not the same issue as the soft rock coal mine areas. Also the St Francios mountain range somewhat insulates our area from the shock.

I live in Oakville in the Bee Tree subdivision. It woke me up. My bed was shaking as if someone was standing there and very vigorously trying to wake me up.Also my bedroom door was really ratteling, pretty hard. I thought, ok, either I need an excorsist or we're having an earthquake. I actualy fell back to sleep and was awoken again around 5 with the same thing. That time I got up and was a bit scared.

I live in Columbia, IL and about 4:30 our dog started acting strange. I tried to calm him down, but it wouldn't work. I gave him a treat, he ate it, but still had an uneasy look about him. I went ahead and layed back down and a few minutes later I felt the shaking and looked at my water-bottle on my nightstand just shake & quiver. I couldn't wake my husband up for anything!!!

When it hit our house, it felt and sounded like tennis balls were pelting the house. My daughter said it sounded like that to her, too.

Anyone else "hear" that kind of sound?

My house has shaken worse when thunder hits. Had a window bust out once.

What made it creepy was there was no noise to go with the shaking. Just silence.

"We were shaken but not stirred!" :)

This is the first time I eevr felt anything like this and i couldnt remember what to do :P so i just laid in bed being shook. i heard rumbling so i figured it was a earthquake felt like the longest minute ever. it knocked a few of my diecast model cars off the shelves onto the ground. must say tho now that it is over it was pretty cool to get to experence it and not sleep though it!

I work in registration at St Joseph Hosp in Kirkwood. Our hospital will be moving to Fenton the beginning of 2009. The new St Clare will have the newest in medical tehnology, and will focus on best practices and patient satisfaction and care. You can stop by and see our progress at 141 & Bowles Ave. My life is computer, day and night, for play and work. Gunsmoke, the tv show from 1955 to 1975, is my hobby. I have collected over 200 to 300 episodes of the 635 produced, plus the 5 Gunsmoke movies. 85 year old James Arness has a website where he talks to all us fans on a regular basis. But of course, Fox 2 is the best show on TV these days!!
