My dtr is accompanying her friend who tries out for everything that has to do with singing.......to the Amer Idol tryouts....but in order for the 3rd friend to go and be in line with them....(each person trying out can have only one friend stand in line with them)...then my dtr will have to try out also. Maybe the David Cook thing will happen and the one just going along will get picked!!!!

Both my dtr and her friend do alot of Karaoke.....I dont know if Fox2 has done any stories on Karaoke...but that could be a very fun storyline....

Well ...heres to another year of Amer Idol tryouts.....!!!

I thought I saw the other day that this person was no longer running for Lt governor!!! Why do I still receive phone calls from this man....each time from a different phone number....???

A while back they supposedly had this POLITICAL NO-CALL LIST....and I signed up for it!!!! And in THAT case WHY AM I STILL RECEIVING CALLS???

He even used the old time and temp phone number...321-2522...to get his message thru. 

Doesnt NO mean NO for the NO CALL LISTs????

I bought an HDTV a few months ago...19 inch....to replace an OLD 13 analog TV. THis new TV can go up to 1080i.

I have Charter cable hooked directly to it...no box....I assume it is an analog connection, since there is no digital box connected to it, even though I have digital service with a box on my living room TV.

My question is, why do the channels change place every so often? If 2, 4, and 5 have a digital signal....why dont the actual channels come in in digital? Right now I have at least 4 Fox2 channels...all come in in different sizes on different channels and different resolutions. Today my lowest channel is 1-2, in digital, then 2-99 come in very badly in their normal formats on their normal channel numbers.....but the pic is very bad!

From 100-1 thru 119-1 there are MULTIPLE selling channels...they come in beautiful...and I could care less about those....some of the HD channels come in....like AE and TNT.TV....but there is no sound....I even get Showtime ...but no sound. At one point almost every number from 99-125 had a duplicate channel in digital for every channel from 1-99....that was nice....!

Whats the deal??? Next Feb, will all the channels have their correct number....like Fox -2...KMOV - 4...KSDK - 5...and so on??? I understand the fact that as long as you have cable or dish you will have a signal....just what channel will you have to tune in to???

SO FAR I HAVE MY DTR IN LAW ...AND MY 2 SONS....WHOSE NAMES ACTUALLY ARE A CROSS SECTION...PRETTY NEAT ,,,,HUH?

OK, OK.....I know this is a competitor station....but , hey , they were the only station to cover this !!!!

My dtr in law won FIRST PLACE in the Loeb Achievement for Science and Math Award for teachers....35 finalists....5 honorees.....3 - $500 third place awards....1 - $2000 2nd place...and 1- $3500 first place award....!!

This took place yesterday at the Science Center....ahem...ahem...ahem....really close to channel 2!!

Route 66 May 2008 

Just saw on Fox2 In The Morning....the new book out on Route 66...we JUST got home yesterday from a trip that encompassed much of that route....pics will be forthcoming!!

The one thing that I didnt catch as we were driving by, was Cadillac Ranch...didnt know it was comin up...and zip...there it went. I saw it ...just not quick enough with the camera!

My husband and I left on May 4 and returned yesterday from a National Park trip.....Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon. In 2005 we did the Durango/Silverton trip. It is absolutely AMAZING how beautiful the western part of the US is. In Vail, Co, there was 5ft of snow and you could go out in shirt sleeves....!!!

We drove 70 thru Mo,Ks,Co,Ut,.....then came down to Az,Nm,Tx,Ok on 40/66...then to 44 to Branson for one nite......

 In Groom Tx, we saw the huge Cross that matches the one in Effingham,,,but this one has the bronze 12 stations of the cross....and the tomb....and the crucifiction. Very touching!!

Did you know there was a VOLCANO in NM???? And all the surrounding area is mounds of lava rock.

We were in Tulsa Ok spending the nite when the devastating tornado hit Picher, Ok and southwest Mo...only about 100 miles away! We saw just a little of the damage,,,the news there advised people who were sight seeing to STAY AWAY!!

We knew it was windy,,,the wind in NM was something else!! Huge dust storms!! Vehicles were having a hard time staying straight, particularly ones hauling trailers and motor homes....for 3 days.

As soon as I download the more than 700 pics and some video...I will post some of the hi-lites!!

We had to buy medium grade gas because  the lowest price gas was only 85 octane...and my hubby, the truck driver, said his 12 yr old pickup wouldnt get thru the mts on less than 87. Ya think maybe they do that on purpose cause they know people need the higher octance ....????

Strange things happenin in my neighborhood yesterday!!

First, our garage door would not open with our car clicker..first my husbands... then mine when I got home from work.

All of a sudden the guy across the streets garage door kept going up and down, up and down and then just a little up and then half way...looked like it was going to music!! but....right before that...when I pulled onto my street...there were 7 police cars and almost as many fire vehicles....for a house around the corner....I thought someone had been killed or held hostage with so many vehicles. Ended up no one home and couches caught on fire..hmmmm....

Could all of this have something to do with the power outage at the Mall??? ( Well, not the fire)  I live behind Mehlville HS..which is about a mile from the Mall.

This was  taken in the late 1930s...

Years ago when the Post had the section called 'Our Own Oddities' someone had submitted this pic...when my mother was in intensive care at St Marys years ago, I found the exact same pic hanging in the nurses station right outside her room...

The pic below was sold to my mother for 3 cents, (the lady wanted 7 cents, but 3 cents was all my mom had) in the late 1930s, while she was waiting for a streetcar...the lady who sold it to her said she had taken a picture of a bush in north St Louis, which is where my mother lived at the time, and this is what showed up.

One amazing thing...in person, people have a hard time seeing what is in the pic...but when I scanned it, it was even more obvious.

If you turn the pic upside down and look at his hand...it is a full figure of Christ with a halo.

It is pretty worn out now...my mother carried it with her in her wallet for years!
