How much of your "energy" drink would it take to kill you? I found this site among others in my search to find out about Energy Drinks. Obvisously they aren't healthy, but what is the harm. Check out the following sites.

Every where I go I see pre teens and teens drinking beverages such as RedBull, Full Throttle, Monster, RockStar and others. It just freaks me out that kids are drinking these. They are loaded with Ephedrin, 80 plus miligrams of Caffeine and other legal stimulants.

EPHEDRIN has led to heart attacks. I can't imagine the damage that this is causing. I would love for the morning show to ASK Dr. Hollar what he has seen or thinks about kiddos drinking this stuff.

I am dead set against them. Last summer my sixteen year old had an "end of summer" slumber party. She had played softball games night after night in 100 degree weather, anyway, she and three of her friends went to the store and stocked up on snacks and Monster drinks. I was apprehensive as I have seen her under the influence before ie; hyper, cant sleep etc. They did drink them excessively that night. She had a major illness stem from these drinks. She started to get so sore she couldn't get out of bed it was horrible. She ended up with Fibromyalgia, not caused by the drink itself, but Fibro can be brought on by exerting your self and this drink brought her up and dropped her on her arse so hard, with lack of sleep, heat and physical exertion, this drink threw her over the edge, and why are they able to purchase this at their age if there is Ephedrine in it?(which I didn't know) I wish I would have put my foot down.

I work at a convenience store, and we do not sell energy drinks to those under 18 yrs old! My boss and I both have issues with our kidneys, and mine in particular is due to overuse and abuse of caffiene! You would be shocked and amazed at how many parents get downright IRATE when we decline to sell their 8 or 9 yr old children a Red Bull or a Monster energy drink! They have been told that they are nothing more than juice or just as safe as a cup of coffee! MISINFORMATION!!! Those drinks are dangerous to not-quite-finished-budding bodies and will cause long-term issues in the future for those that consume them like they ARE juice or a cup of coffee!

Moral of the story: They DO NOT give you wings, but they just might give you a dirt nap!!!

I had to stop drinking them because every time I defecated it smelled like latex gloves. As soon as I stopped drinking them it went away.

Rockstar is a popular energy drink with a balance of vitamins and herbs. The drink includes a number of variations - the original formula, a diet version (sweetened with Ace-K and sucralose), Rockstar Juiced, Rockstar Juiced (Guava flavor) and Rockstar Energy Cola.

Note that Rockstar (Original) also contains 50mg of Guarana (in a 16oz can). Guarana also contains caffeine (typically at 8%-22%).

Mr Wild you always make me laugh. You know if it is adults that is one thing. But my kids and their friends ages 9-15 years old drinking these bothers me. I told my daughter no more. I love my caffeine too, from starbucks to dr pepper and tea. I do try to do decaf. What scared me more than the caffeine was the ephedrin in the drinks.

Thank you all for your comments. Have a great weekend!

I drink two 12 cup pots of coffee a day. I was told by my doctor that there is no proof that caffine causes any health effects. He said caffine is a diuretic so I need to stay hydrated. Other than that... no problem.
BTW I go thru 4 pounds of sugar a week too. (I'm only 15 lbs overweight)
I'm never sick, never get a headache or a cold. Can you health nuts say that?
