I posted, The back door, last night, and today i am wondering if it was misunderstood? I have written of my faith and love for america at other times, but, listening to the town hall meeting i began to feel as though losing jobs that pay good wages and help support our local charities is not as terrible as we first thought. Now i ask you, how can that be? When good jobs are forever lost everyone suffers. If some jobs are created that ship products over seas, while robbing whole communities, not just individual families, and this continues unchecked for years, or, products are manufactured out of this country for a lower wage and little or no benefits for those people, let alone ours, how does this help america? The huge companies in this nation and others that trade off the backs of working individuals, will not feel the death grip that we will, because they get their money from alot of different sources.

When a neighborhood is called ,"a global community," then who is your neighbor? Cain asked, " am i my brothers keeper," and there was murder in his heart. I love my country, but does my country love me? Are we still united as one people? If your answer to me is yes, then I ask you, are you your brothers keeper? Would you pay a little higher price for an american made product so that america can be the strong and wonderful nation that i know she has always been? Look, you are paying a great price now. Nothing is cheap anymore unless you take for account the dollar. That doesn't seem to be worth much nowadays. I hope we will wash our face and stand together, with pride, and once again, put america and it's people first. We help everbody in the world. If they need aid, we go, in peace time or war, america is there. Now it's time to help ourselves so we can continue to help others as we always have. Let's put america back to work and keep america strong. God Bless her and her loving, open arms!!

Good jobs are not lst forever. The type of job may change but that doesn't mean they are not good ones. Look at replacing sewing machine operators with Longshoremen. Exports are up who has those jobs?

When the pay scale drops from $20.00 and above, to below $15.00,but food, clothing, medical, gas, and every thing else just keep going up, how do you figure the middle class man or woman will make it? It's more than money,it's a way of life and i for one hate to see it go. Maybe i am the horse and you are the modern machine, but i still feel the pain of change and alot of us born in the early and mid 1900's feel this way.

Our economy is driven by the stock market. What is the goal of every company on the stock market? More profit. A drop in profit translates to a drop in stock price. A drop in stock price means the company value goes down. When the cost of raw materials go up there is not much they can do. (other rich folks getting richer can't interfere with that) What other means do they have to cut cost and raise profits?? FIRE YOU. Rich people hate losing money. Even tho they have more than they could possibly spend in their life.
According to the IRS charts, in 1986 the top 50% of tax payers made 66% of the income earned in this country. In 2005 the number jumped to 87.5% of all money made going to the top 50% of tax payers. 13.5% of all income is spread among HALF the country. The spread is getting bigger.
They are not without compassion. Since they have all the money, they are willing to LEND you some. You just have to pay 10% to 30% interest. They are only trying to help you. Don't you feel the love?

We had our chance to be our brothers keepers and buy USA products and we didn't do it. we'll suffer and hopefully learn until the cycle returns, and then we'll do it again in 100 years

I AM my brother's keeper!!!

But, in our modern society, where all things are driven by the "bottom line" (ie, "profits"), money is the driving force and the decisive matter that people often use to decide whether to help someone or not. We have become an "every-man for himself!" instead of "we are all in this together!" type of society. Too bad! You cannot take the money, power and riches with you when you die!!

There is no such thing as an American made product.

There was a guy who loved money so much, he made his wife promise that when he died she would bury all of his money with him.

She did as she promised. She laid a check for the full amount in his coffin.

Nailer, that was funny.
Mutatis-Mutandis, thats very sad.
Truth is we better all learn to trust Jesus and hold on to our hope. This is a wonderful country, but, i once heard that a union is only as good as the people in it,so stand or fall it's up to us and it always has been.

You act as though people 'have to' lend you money...they don't...and the stock market and economy and two different things...the stock market responds to economic data and anticipation/emotion of trends....you 'think' you are worth such and such an amount...but w/o any credentials...as jsage said; you have to be willing to do something new...

I am always willing to learn and do new things.I believe most americans are. I guess what i am tring to say and not doing a very good job of it,is that many americans are either older now or handicapped in some other ways, been out of school for years,or, simply don't have the means to keep up with these changing times. If that just sets some peoples sails to burning, then try looking into the faces of aging america and tell them to just try something new. When you've worked all of your life and thought you would be safe as you grew older, and somebody says,"don't whine",it just makes me want to scream.Don't forget, like it or not, these out of touch people, made all the new and wonderful things that americans have today possible when they were young. Let me tell you that nobody gave most of these folks a hand out.It is a new and changing world but i pray it doesn't change so much that we forget who we are and what we stand for.

Apparently, a self-important college student attending a
recent rugby game took it upon himself to explain to a
senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for
the older generation to understand his generation.

'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one.' the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear.
' The Young people of today grew up with television, jet planes,
space travel, man walking on the moon. Our space probes have visited Mars.We have nuclear energy and electric and hydrogen
cars, cell phones.Computers with light-speed processing, And more.. '

After a brief silence the senior citizen responded as follows:
'You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young - so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little s**t,
what are you doing for the next generation?'

About sums it up. Where are the new ideas?
Leaders need to lead. Not subcontract to China.

Alright Nailer! Tell that truth! I agree that this generation is just spoiled, but you have to think about who spoiled them. LOL!

you have a good point beehoney40...the greatest generation was usto having nothing and working hard, so they gave to their children with abandon, so their kids could have everything.

I agree! the greatest generation didn't have everything just handed to them. They understand what its like to work hard and to be dedicated, through that, earn your fruits of labor. I guess in some strange way, the greatest generation did not want the next generation to have to work as hard as they did. Thus handicapping the next generation. Most of th next generation don't understand the dignity that comes with hard work. Kudos to the senior citizen

I suppose you have a point. A lot of lock key kids in this world, however, i think some of that comes from "keeping up with the jones".Somewhere the family table got lost in the attempt to pay for the table. With all the different ideas floating around, would'nt you think somebody could just settle for a cheaper table? Maybe then this generation would'nt be so spoiled.seriously though, it seems to take both people working now and thats no laughing matter.
